The Aberystwyth Park Lodge Hotel garners praise for its cleanliness, with modern rooms and facilities that guests find well-appointed. Many find the service friendly and efficient, contributing to the hotel's warm atmosphere complemented by high-standard linen and furnishings. Its location is a hit for being quiet yet convenient, and the amenities, including Tesla chargers, add to its appeal.
While the rooms are celebrated for their comfort and modernity, some issues with noise and temperature control have been noted. In terms of value, the hotel is generally appreciated, especially for its breakfast deals and quality meals.

Detailed Reviews
As we had to be in Aberystwyth early one morning for appointments, we decided to book online the morning of our stay. This meant we could travel down the day before. Booked two nights bed and breakfast .
We arrived at approx 4pm, parked easily in the car park. The entrance was nice and welcoming, clean and tidy.
Entered the foyer, used hand sanitizer, and was met by a lovely gentleman, who asked us if we were checking in. Check in was quick and easy, and everything explained to us.
We were given room 24, which was large, bright and airy, albeit bit of a weird shape, with sloping ceiling. The bed was comfortable and large too.
The shower cubicle was of a reasonable size, but not what I would call big. Enough space to move in it , while washing, the toilet was also in the same room, it was all very clean, with plenty of shower gel and toilet rolls etc. The washbasin was in the main room itself, seemed a bit weird, but not a problem and also very clean. The hanging area for clothes was tucked in an alcove near the window, under wher the ceiling sloped, quite cute really, as it all seemed so different to your standard square or oblong rooms, with a chunk boxed off for ensuite.
Went into the bar for a drink, ladies working were very pleasant and polite, and smiling. Drinks prices were on average for hotels from my experience of differences between hotel bars, and pubs.
Breakfast menus on offer were quite good, considering restrictions in place everywhere due to covid 19. The only thing not available was continental, but cereal was on offer.
We went for full both mornings, which was nicely presented on the plates. I was able to request no beans or mushrooms on mine, and have extra egg instead. Also I don't drink tea or coffee, so was allowed orange or apple juice. Really nice touch to be allowed alternatives and not pay extra. The restaurant was large clean and bright, and is apparently open to the general public as well as residents.
The tv in the room was good size, and picked up the relevant freeview channels for the area.
All in all a good stay, and if I ever need to stay in Aber(as we locals call it ,as we only live approx 30 miles north)I would certainly stay here again

I stayed one night in a modern, comfortable and large bedroom on the first floor which could be accessed via stairs or small lift. The room was facing the road and was quiet with excellent amenities - large king size bed, tea/coffee making facilities, fan if needed, ironing board and iron, hairdryer, television, ample sockets including USB. The bathroom was well equipped with plenty of fluffy towels and included a large power shower cubicle.
The hotel is located on a roundabout with easy access into Aber itself - 20 minute walk on the level or by catching a nearby bus. Morrisons, Next, Costa and McDonald's are a five minute walk away. The car park is excellent with plenty of spaces and six Tesla chargers if required.
I ate in the restaurant in the evening and the staff were friendly and helpful, The food which was served quickly was very tasty and hot. Breakfast the next morning was a mixture of buffet and table service. Again the food was very enjoyable. If you book the hotel through its own website breakfast will be included in the price and you can choose your room and its location. Cara on Reception was very friendly and helpful. I look forward to my next stay in Llanbadarn. Diolch yn fawr.

Just returned from a four night stay at the Park Lodge. We only booked here due to a mix up with our original hotel - thank God for that
The hotel has recently undergone a complete refurbishment.
Bedrooms have been done to a very high modern standard and the shower alone is worth the stay on its own.
The staff were fantastic, very friendly and only too willing to help.
We dined here for two of our four nights and the food was really good.
I can only speak as I find and doubtless someone else will have a totally different experience than I did, but I personally can only recommend it and would definitely stay here again if I visit this part of Wales again.

Having arrived at the hotel just after midday in order to meet lovely family members for lunch at the super SY23 restaurant in Aberystwyth town, I parked the car in the car park and went into the hotel to advise them that I had arrived and parked my vehicle, but that it would probably be late evening before checking in.
Lucy courteously thanked me for advising them and responded that it would not be a problem because reception was open until late and that a night porter would be on duty thereafter.
She then telephoned for a taxi which arrived in about ten minutes and took me to the SY23 for £4.
The welcome received from Lucy and all her colleagues during my stay was warm and friendly which made the overnight visit a lovely experience.
My room was clean, warm and spacious with a most comfortable bed and no traffic noise.
There is ample free parking.
Breakfast was also very enjoyable with a good choice. I opted for the large cooked with toast and coffee that was very tasty. I appreciate some like very strong coffee, but Lucy was on hand once again and brought me a jug of hot water instantly - problem solved.
Whilst I have no complaints, would like to make a couple of minor suggestions which I hasten to add did not detract from the pleasure of my stay.
I have often wished to be taller, but never more so than when trying to hang my coat at the Park Lodge. It was only after several leaps that I managed to reach the rail!
The second recommendation is to provide more clothes hangers – there was only one in my room. With hindsight that might be a blessing as leaping in a hotel bedroom on my own following a whole afternoon and evening of wining and dining may not be a good idea!
Finally, I would like to thank all the staff at the Park Lodge for their courteous and friendly welcome. It was a most enjoyable stay and I recommend the hotel.

We stayed here for one night and as soon as we got onto the car park all we could say was wow. It is such a modern hotel and has a posh element to it as well. Our room was on the first floor which was great and surprisingly super quiet as it was on the main road opposite a McDonald’s. The room looked like it had been recently refurbished and the bed was huge which lead to an amazing nights sleep. The mattress was very firm but did not bother us in the slightest. The staff upon arrival were nothing but friendly and helpful and check-in was simple and quick.
In the room was a kettle, hot chocolate, coffee (de-caf and caffeinated) and sugar sachets alongside teabags, milk and bottles of water which was a great selection for me and my partner.
The TV in the room was really big, and the best part is that it is a smart TV which means you can access YouTube and other apps AND you can connect your phone to the TV!
The drive to the beach of Aberystwyth was an 8-10 minute drive so this hotel really is in a perfect location.
If we travel to Aberystwyth again, we will without a shadow of a doubt stay here again!

Booked 2 rooms for family return visit to our home town.
Recently refurbished - lovely big rooms but incomplete (told awaiting delivery of more furniture) eg no phones in room, only one bedside table, no chairs, nowhere to hang clothes. Also other annoying things that shouldn’t happen when paying £138 a night for a room eg TV not working or no TV remote at all ! No spoon or stirrer with tea and coffee in either room ! Of course you can always phone down to reception to get tings sorted but wait a minute ........
Most annoying of all you are told you must pay in full on arrival but not told in advance that your room is incomplete or that you can’t phone internally to order room service. Poor customer service.

This twenty year old hotel had a complete refurbishment during the lockdown and boy was it worth it? Yes!
Plenty of parking but very few dedicated bays, six Tesla charging points, all good.
Pleasant ad efficient staff at reception.
Bedroom No 7 was allegedly a dedicated disabled bedroom but although large it had many deficiencies particularly in the bathroom. In the bathroom there was not a seat or stool in the shower, a bar is also required. Some hooks, towel rail and shelves are required.
The large flat screen TV was a smart Philips, easy to use and excellent picture and sound. A massive change from the cheap TVs used in most hotels.
The auto closers to fire doors in the corridors were too heavy, they should be adjusted.
Excellent breakfast, buffet facilities.

My parents are both in their 80s, during the recent storms their electric went off and they were told it would be off for at least 2 days, they stopped here for 1 night and then booked another night when they were told their electric was still off. An hour later a neighbour informed them it was back on. When they tried to cancel the room they were refused stating it was against company policy and cancellations must be made at least 48 hours prior. How could they do this as they were staying in an emergency situation. We have tried to take this further but as yet we are getting no replies. This is such a shabby way to treat a local elderly couple who sought shelter, and to not respond is even worse.

Attended my grandads wake here yesterday and as a family we were very disappointed and embarrassed by the very little food and choice supposedly catered for 50 people at £14 per head. The room alone was £300 and the bar was not even opened so we as a family had to keep going back and forth to the other room.
Not one member of staff made the effort to ask if any of us were okay or needed anything and considering what the room was hired for there was no empathy given!

Response from General Manager, Owner at Aberystwyth Park Lodge Hotel
Responded 13 Mar 2023
We are so sorry to hear you had these issues at your grandad’s wake, this is not the experience we strive to deliver at Park Lodge. We were not made aware of any concerns on the day, so could not rectify this at the time. To the contrary we were complemented on how lovely everything was so we are keen to address what went wrong here and reach a resolution. Please contact us directly on 01970 636333 or email reception@aberpark.com if you wish to discuss this further, we'll be happy to help.

A 3* hotel which exceeds the rating for its cleanliness, comfort and quality of service. This hotel offers so much, it has recently been refurbished to a high standard. The rooms are bright, spotlessly clean and functional. The bathrooms are immaculate.
There is plentiful, safe car parking. The hotel is in a most convenient location. The bus stop opposite at Morrison's offers frequent services to the beach and town centre.
As soon as you step inside the hotel, you will find all staff friendly and helpful. It is good to see the presence of the owner of this family-run hotel around the hotel often and he is happy to speak to guests about their stay.
The bar/dining room is a welcoming, bright space with large picture windows.
Breakfast offers a full buffet plus a large choice of hot dishes.
The menu for other meals offers a huge choice, with something for all tastes and dietary requirements, including vegan.
We could not find fault with anything during our stay, every meal was delicious.
We were so impressed with the Park Lodge that we enjoyed a short break there in June and again in July.
This hotel scores a 5* rating in every aspect.

Hi Karen,
The room I stayed at had a shower only which suited me fine. The hotel does however have a limited number of rooms with a bath - I believe they have five.
Hope you enjoy your stay as much as I did.
