Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here in February and it’s always served a lovely breakfast but this time different people were cooking it and tbh it was quality ingredients but was stone cold eggs were overcooked and should not have been served up at all they were like rubber it’s not what I paid for.tomatoes, and bean were cold plus some of the food was from day before they need to get decent cooks who know what they are doing?THIS FOOD SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN SERVED LIKE THIS.we have stayed here on several occasions and always rated the breakfast as tasty and hot and well cooked. Will definitely not be returning to the hotel and certainly don’t recommend.

Lovely welcome in reception when we turned up and asked for a room for the night. We had a lovely room. Was told breakfast was downstairs in the morning. But when we went down in the morning .No breakfast. No one to be seen. Only other guests. They told us that we had to go to another hotel to have breakfast. It would have been nice to be told when we booked the room. We would still stay again though as we loved it otherwise. Just please be up front about the breakfast.

My partner didn't even attend this hotel. Had a bereavement on the day she was due to attend and tried to sort it through Expedia and the hotel. Obviously at 11am on the first day she was willing to accept payment for the first day and was hoping for a refund of the following two days. Both Expedia and Mr Davies let it expire before confirming no refund. If this is their outlook on life? Money money money $$$$. What kind of service could we really expect. Avoid at all costs. You'll have a lucky escape

I was dreading staying here on the night of storm Isha and a six hour drive from Cornwall. So many terrible reviews and 5 nights to go. The hotel is very clean. My room is warm, comfortable and nicely decorated. Lots of tea, milk, coffe and biscuits. The buffet breakfast is delicious. So far, I’ve had 4 nights of quiet and restful sleep. I don’t have a sea view, but I’m fine with that; if I want to look at the sea, it’s right there outside the door. I had a small issue with the heating and it was immediately dealt with. How come so many people have to write horrible reviews? I would stay here again with pleasure.

Was told we had to walk 3 blocks away to another hotel for breakfast didn't say that on website ! That should of been said when booking as we would of gone somewhere else where you can have breakfast without a long bloody walk !

Expensive budget hotel, sinking mattress that rolls you in to the middle, rooms décor dated, mediocre self-service breakfast, rubbish customer service by owner - rude obnoxious. Windows cracked. We stayed at this hotel and what an experience, awoken at midnight to find a drunken man trying to force open our room door, man goes away but returns at 2am again banging on room door, then urinates against the door. We rang the sleepy owner and requested to speak to him in person and reported the incident, as now all fire escape doors were opened leaving the hotel open to all and the drunken man was still stumbling the corridors and stairwells. No owner visit but another visit by the drunk attempting to enter the room by force at 6am. When we finally spoke to owner in person several hours later, his comments were that he did attend during the night and couldn’t find the drunk, didn’t see the large wet patch of urine soaking in to the carpet and couldn’t remember what room we were in to speak to us, the drunk must have been good at hide and seek. The owner refused any goodwill gesture of the appalling nights sleep at his hotel, stating it was not his responsibility to look after his guests and made the comment “haven’t we all done it”………….erm NO. The owner was adamant that it was not his responsibility to ensure his customers had the best experience possible. The owner then stated that he may give a discount on any future stay. Fat chance. What a joke, give this one a miss, front door never locked and fire door to rear fire escape always open.

Booked a single room and got a small double bed which was really comfortable, room was very clean and nice tea and coffee tray. Host was absolutely lovely and breakfast really good. I was on the top floor and the lift was a bit temperamental, might be better to phone ahead and get a lower floor room if you have mobility issues. Good WiFi connection.

We had a lovely, clean, recently redecorated room, with a sea view. Everything about it was good - comfort and cleanliness. The breakfast was delicious and the eggs cooked in small batches so that they were not left to go cold. The staff were friendly and efficient. The only slight flaw was that the parking was a bit 'hit and miss' - sometimes right outside and at others further away. However, it was high season and the town was very full. We will certainly try to book again next year.

Hotel average , Staff friendly. Bathroom needed a little TLC. Advertised as having a bar and when we arrived there wasn't one. Told that there was free parking in the street but be careful of the traffic warden so every time we came back to the car we were expecting a ticket! Very good breakfast but would have been even nicer if it was hot.

Paid by card on phone to find different amount taken when given receipt! Reception Point blank refused to deal with issue & told me to contact owner who was ‘beyond rude’ on the phone once I actually got hold of him. Wondering if this is the norm for them and they say one price to get you to book and actually charge another! Disgusting way to treat customers and can’t even be legal. With some trawling discovered the owner has previously been charged with mistreating and ripping customers off in various ways! Shocked to say the least. Beware as owns the Four Seasons also.
