Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed at the Ty Belgrave last summer. Unfortunately the hotel was randomly targeted by an arsonist. The hotel was raised to the ground. Myself and my young children were rescued by a cherry picker fire engine after 40 minutes from the roof, my partner fell from the roof and broke his back and neck. You might have seen the footage on the Cambrian news. The hotel front door was left open by staff. The reception was not manned after 9pm. The fire doors were propped open. As noted in the Fire Investigation Report as breeched or improperly fitted. The room door had an inch gap at the bottom which allowed the smoke to flow freely. There was not anexternal fire escape. Later, my four year old son said, ‘Mummy, I would have climbed down a ladder if there had been one’. One man died. We have not been able to claim from our Home Contents Insurance as we did not have Out and About Cover. The Hotelier is not interested in us and has not even refunded our nights stay. We met with him for a bizarre coffee last week and he said his solicitor would be in touch with us. He hasn’t. Even though we can prove that the Hotelier was negligent to his Duty of Care towards us, staff were been seen leaving the hotel insecure, staff were not fully trained, he has refused to give us a copy of the Public Liability (coincidently it was dated August 2018 in his other hotel.) My partner has life changing injuries, failed spinal treatment, then nine inches of metal in his back/neck.

Moved me to a hotel with no water, etc. Wouldn't refund difference in price. Wouldn't let me see purported damage to my room. No pics either. Wouldn't meet with me. Lied to booking company. Please avoid this hotel. Do you want to get here and not have a room?

Stayed in the Spring for a belated birthday treat in this lovely comfortable and friendly Hotel, right on the sea front. Good breakfast. Did the cliff railway at the end of the strand, and The National Library had interesting exhibition on Celyn? Williams the artist and is in a wonderful strategic position behind the town. Coming back sometime to jobhunt/househunt. Dinah Wainwright

I rang the htel to say that, with regret we were going to have to cancel. The rooms were booked on 25 May and I rang to cancel on 4 June. However the hotel kept the full payment of £245 stating that it was Booking.coms rules - I spoke to Booking.ccom who said they would write to the hotel and ask them to treat this case with leniency. They have not responded to Booking.com or to me. So we now have a legal battle. I would say dont book in advance at this hotel as you will have a fight on your hands if you want to cancel

I booked this as there was free parking involved. However, it appears that the parking was 200 yards away and not guaranteed. When I looked further at the small print it stated that parking was nearby. I do not consider this ‘nearby’ not least after travelling 6 hours by car with an 81 year old husband and an Asperger son. I had to find alternative accommodation but the hotel refused to accept my cancellation and withdrew the funds in full for the two rooms for the night. Bookings.com who had been so helpful to that date chose to support the hotel.

Stayed here last week, and really enjoyed it. We stayed in room 4 on the second floor, which is a twin room over looking the sea. The room had 2 windows and it was lovely, quiet and clean. I'm a vegan and they were kind enough to get me soya milk for breakfast. The breakfast room is a bit small and feels very busy when the hotel is busy (usually sunday morning) but the food is nice. Not many vegan options but toast, beans and hash browns is always a winning combo for me. The lady who welcomed up and who did all of the breakfast serving was Mary, she was lovely, and she recommended some things to do in the town for me and my mom. She was so kind and chatty and is a true credit to this hotel.

We had booked an apartment and unfortunately our son didn’t like it and neither did we -so we booked into The Belgrave on the sea front. As soon as we explained our situation the lady on reception Mary was great , she showed our son the rooms and asked if he liked them -which he did. She was friendly and helpful and reassuring to our Austitic son and was a truly wonderful person. I hope whoever owns this hotel pays her well and appreciates her as all the guests stated the same and she made all the difference to our stay -her breakfast was superb !!

The owner is a greedy 'Rob dog' and the hotel is dated and tired. Breakfast was a joke with a dirty setting and limited food for all guests. The best part about this stay was the wonderful reception lady..Mary! A true angel. X
