I booked online to stay overnight on my own while on the university run collecting my son and all his belongings at the end of the academic year! In the past I have booked a room in a national hotel chain on the outskirts of Bangor, but have not been impressed, so decided to look for somewhere else, and the Management Centre seemed ideal in terms of location, room and parking, and the price was less than what I would have had to pay at the other hotel. Booking online was easy, and email communication between then and my arrival was informative. On arrival, parking and Reception were both well signposted, and I was greeted by a friendly and efficient receptionist who talked me through where the restaurant and bar was and directed me to my room. The room was clean and comfortable, and perfect for me on my own, with all the usual tea, coffee, towels etc, plus an iron and ironing board and hair dryer. The bathroom was spotless with a large walk-in shower. The bed was a double, even though it was a single room (one bedside cabinet and one lamp) and it was extremely comfortable. I did not eat in the restaurant on the evening of my arrival although I had breakfast the following morning. There were no free clean tables when I walked into the dining room, but two young members of staff came straight over to me and between them cleared a small table and set a space for me, as well as talked me through the options for food and explained that they would bring over the hot drink. Coffee was "proper" coffee in a cafetiere, and I opted for the continental rather than full English breakfast which was delicious. Checking out was easy and the same receptionist dealt with me in a polite and professional manner, wishing me a safe journey home. I would definitely return here next time, and not give the other place a second look.

Had issues with my trains on the way up so emailed the centre to let them know I would be late for check in a very kind woman notified me that I shouldn’t threat and that check in was 24 hour making my travel up a lot less stressful, once I arrived a very kind receptionist explained everything I needed to know and gave very thorough directions to my room as someone who struggles with directions this was appreciated and I didn’t even get lost so clearly they were effective! The room was lovely spacious and bed comfortable, the bathroom shower actually made sense without having to guess settings for hours and breakfast was equally as lovely both in terms of staff and food! Wonderful stay and easy check out just handed the keys over and left, would come again

It is a long drive from Cambridge to Holyhead, from where we take the ferry to Ireland. Taking a break in a comfortable and friendly environment en-route makes this a relaxed and pleasurable experience.
We have stayed before and always found the staff to be helpful and welcoming. The evening meal and breakfast are great with a good choice and great service.
Parking out side the reception area is very convenient and secure.
The rooms are clean and comfortable without being over-fussy.
We recommend the Management Centre to anyone looking for great value accommodation in the area.
A really great find !

This review relates to my third stay in the University of Bangor's Management Centre during the past six years, and as I'm quite selective as to where I stay when away from home, this luxurious establishment on the eastern shore of the Menai Strait must be doing lots of things right! This place really is a hidden gem, offering clean, warm and comfortable accommodation, with friendly and helpful staff, close to the centre of the north Wales Cathedral and University City of Bangor at a very reasonable price! As a University sports administrator my previous visits have been for business purposes, but this time I chose to break a return sail and rail journey from Dublin to Portsmouth by staying overnight in Bangor. The Management Centre is a fifteen-minute, gentle uphill walk from the railway station, or a five-minute, GBP 5 ride away with Chubb's Taxis. A full, cooked, all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast, available between 07:30-09:30, is included in the price of a room. Reception is open 24/7 with staff who speak both English and Welsh. My accommodation was adequate for an overnight stay with a comfortable double bed, plenty of wardrobe space to hang clothes and a scrupulously-clean shower room with washbasin and toilet. There were plenty of 3-Pin, 240 Volt power sockets for my laptop computer with free, fast wireless internet access (Download 11.5 Mbps; Upload 1.7 Mbps and Latency 41 ms) also provided. There's a kettle in each room with tea and coffee-making facilities. If you're staying for a couple of nights the licensed 1884 Restaurant serves evening meals between18:00-21:00 each day. There's also a Coffee Shop next to the reception desk which is open from 08:30 until 16:00 every day. The latest checkout time is 10:00 Mondays to Fridays and 11:00 at weekends. The Management Centre bears more than a passing resemblance to a rabbit warren, so it took me a while to find my bedroom (and the Restaurant) but that's nobody's fault but my own. It could be argued that the decoration in the bedrooms has a "dated" feel, but bedrooms are for sleeping (or working!) in and, at this price point, who cares anyway? As a base for singles, couples or families who want to explore the City of Bangor and the surrounding area of north Wales, with its impressive Norman Castles, rugged mountains and lovely narrow gauge railways, the University Management Centre comes very close to perfection.

The WiFi didn't work it was so slow. I am a computer engineer and even I know that the system has major issues. Try doing a daily clear of cache. Lesson the amount of firewalls the system is being throttled. I got a quicker connection via my mobile service provider even at H+ I did better than what was provided by the hotel
I was in room 113 the bed was so uncomfortable I could feel the springs it did not give a comfortable night's sleep my back ached in the morning maybe provide more than 1 pillow per person as well.
We went to breakfast at around 8:30 when we arrived there was no egg an empty dish for scrambled eggs no offering for fried egg or poached egg & no black pudding and only a few pieces of bacon less to say we couldn't have a full breakfast as we wanted.
Maybe just take an order of each person and cook to order as requested by each diner.
Unfortunately I wouldn't be staying again.

First the positives: Free parking Great location for university visits Mostly very friendly young staff Mostly very clean Soap, shampoo and lotion provided
Now the not so positives: It's impossible to navigate the hotel. It's several old buildings cobbled together with very dated corridors and signage is very poor. This results in lost people all over the hotel, going round in circles and up and down stairs. We found this quite funny but some people were more upset. The rooms were very shabby and resembled a late 80s student accommodation, in desperate need of a lick of paint and upgrades to furniture and equipment. TV is tiny. The beds were very uncomfortable - hard as rocks and pillows very flat. Windows are single glazed (though lovely leaded small panels) so they were very condensed in the mornings which was not good for our chests. There was a kettle in the room, but only 3 teabags, which were not restocked. Breakfast was served in reception which was like a large school hall, from trays around the edge of the room. All very dry and felt like a lunch provided at a low budget conference. Being in reception rather than the restaurant, there were people walking through which was not nice as the floor is incredibly noisy. We chose to eat elsewhere the second morning even though it was included in the hefty price we had paid. The fire alarm went off during breakfast on our first day, reading other reviews it does happen here, but at least for us it wasn't during the night. After all standing around for some time wondering what to do everyone eventually went outside. The lack of any clear instruction may have been a problem had there been a real fire. On return after 20 mins or so the food was not refreshed - so the trays of hot food were even drier.
On checking out we were asked if everything was ok - we were honest, and response from reception was that our comments are fair, and they are in the process of refurbishing some rooms. Perhaps it will be worth the price once it's refurbished.
The location suited us perfectly for the university visit but at the price charged would definitely not stay again.

This is an old property and while everything was clean and the service very good it did feel a bit tired. The rooms lack modern soundproofing and any activity in the corridors was very loud. We were not unduly disturbed but inevitably there are some guests that always need to have a conversation in the corridors at midnight!! There is a good breakfast selection, plenty of parking and we found the location to be suitable for exploring the local area attractions. Overall I would rate this as good value but more of a functional hotel than a holiday hotel.

Not really a location that some would consider, but it was perfectly fine. Parking (once found) was ample. Access to rooms could perhaps have better signs - as a fair distance from reception Rooms were fine and had everything required Good buffet breakfast Good location for tourist attractions in the area Town is 5-10 mins walk away, but offers little Staff are very nice and friendly

This review is based on my 30+ nights a year staying in hotels, mainly on business; this was a personal stay.
Clean room, adequate parking, very friendly and helpful staff. The food was adequate for the price point, overall reasonable value for money.
Unfortunately let down by WiFi that needed to be reconnected every time I moved location and intermittent connectivity issues that feels like a FW problem.
Booking.com bombarded me with emails prior to the stay, I don't understand why, it doesn't happen with other bookings.
The pre-stay emails contain lots of useful information, but lack clear directions or a map link which would really help at the end of a long day driving.
Overall A- for the accommodation, D+ for attention to detail and user experience.

Perfect for solo, couples and business events. We stayed as a family with a teenager and they were very accommodating to ensure we had two rooms near each other. The hotel is situated close to the town in a breath taking location of Wales, the staff are extremely helpful, the rooms are comfy and clean.
