Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed at the Totters Townhouse across the road from the Hostel. It’s a separate property with its own entrance. Bob and Henri(etta) are great hosts and met us on arrival with lots of goodies for breakfast. The place is spotless. We are a family of five and there was plenty of room for us. At the top, there’s a lovely double room with a big en-suite. On the middle floor two twin rooms with a shower room and loo - again a good size. The kitchen is well kitted out and the open plan lounge has enough room to chill. The property is just inside the old town walls and on a very quiet street. There’s no noise from the Hostel. Bob and Henri are on hand for any info you need. Their recommendation for Curry Scene for an Indian Takeaway was spot on. You are within and easy walk of the Slate Quay, Castle and Highland Railway. You’re seconds from the streets of the old town. We only stayed a couple of nights, but wished we had booked more. It’s a short drive to Llanberis for a Snowdon hike and we are off to Zip World at Bethesda today which is a half an hour drive. Thanks Bob and Henri. We’ll be back.

Absolutely amazing, bedroom and kitchen area were pristine and breakfast options were great. The hosts were so lovely and accommodating and as three young girls staying on our own, it was the safest we’ve felt in a hostel, would definitely stay again.

Couldn't be happier with our experience at Totters. Visited Caernaerfon as a group of 4 families (11 persons) and cannot recommend the place enough. It might have the "backpackers name on it but it's anything "but", feels like a real hotel mixed with being at your own place super cosy and super nice. The following describes what we experienced: . Friendly host and zero intrusion. . Super easy/flexible check-in/check-out process . Location-Location-Location =PERFECT . Cost=EXCELLENT (around £25 per person per night) . Clean=Totally spotless . Showers and bathroom=Magnificent . Beds super comfortable (memory foam mattresses) . Kitchen = AMAZING and super prepared for everything including breakfast, the old Fireplace in the kitchen and mega table are out of dreams! I could continue but you get the point. We will be back of course.

Fantastic place. Great location. Very clean lovely people. Would highly recommend to anyone that is visiting Caernarfon. No parking there but found somewhere that was free overnight and not far from it. Poor wifi in rooms but no problem in communal areas. Plenty of food for breakfast (no full English lol). Really nice vibe going on.

We stayed a couple of nights while walking Snowdon. This hostel is only 20 min from Snowdon and right in the heart of Caernarfon. It is absoultly spotless and the character of the building adds to the charm. The owner is super friendly and laid back. We would definitely recommend this place to others travelling in the area.

Fantastic place, stayed in the top room. I have to admit the stairs are not friendly to older legs but the room itself was great. The view from the window overlooking the bay was breathtaking. Hosts really nice, friendly and helpful. Do plan to visit again.!

Stayed at Totters Independent Hostel for 2 nights with my husband. On our first night we slept in a twin room with a shared bathroom, both the bedroom and bathroom were very clean and modern. On our second night we were moved to a double bedroom upstairs with our own bathroom, again these were both to a good standard. We used the breakfast facilities on our first morning as we were up early to go to Snowdon, there was a selection of cereal, bread, eggs and lots of spreads/jams. The lady who greeted us was very friendly and made sure that we were happy to move rooms for the second night. The hostel itself is right in the centre of Caernarfon and is a short walk to various pubs and restaurants. The hostel is very close to the castle as well. My husband and I were both very happy with our stay and would definitely recommend Totters.
