Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a lunchtime meal here - saturday of the food festival and did not expect too much as the town was so busy. However it was fantastic, good food and great service. Staff were great fast and efficeinct.

Great summer sun bite to eat and cool drinks. Busy but excellent service both from bar and food. Had the budda bowl and also the fish, both excellent and tasted superb. Staff couldn't do enough and were fast and efficient taking orders, and clearing away. Everyone seemed so happy and great atmosphere sitting outside.

Luke warm food. I ordered a pumpkin burger and upon arrival I was very impressed with it's look. I cut the burger in half and bit into it to find it was Luke warm. I then touched the centre to find no heat. I informed them and they took it back. Around ten minutes later after my friend had finished Thier meal they returned with another burger I then cut that in half and found that that was lukewarm also. I let them know that yet again the burger wasn't hot to be told the last one was hot. I said it was luke warm, she said well I ate it and it was fine, I thought to myself I put my finger in that burger to check the temperature and you've just ate it. She took the burger back saying while 'you're only having the same burger back" I said that's fine it came back no temperature difference.... she said that's how the burgers are... I said what luke warm? I said you shouldn't be serving lukewarm food! it was a shame because what I did bite in to was delicious. I ate my delicious fries drank my nice coffee and wasted the burger as I didn't want to have a stomach upset from being served lukewarm food as I'm unsure it had reached the correct temperature to begin with. The attitude of the staff was disgusting. She said I know that the customer is always right but I checked the temperature and it was fine. All fair and well if you're a baby and can't eat hot food. Now I know why this pub was not as busy as other pubs on a bank holiday Monday. I gave an extra dot rating for the delicious fries.

Went to Abergavenny hoping to get a Sunday lunch somewhere nice. We were greeted warmly & told they had a table. Excellent friendly service. Had mackerel pate to start followed by 2 beef dinners. They ask if you want it pink or well done. Came with roasted potatos, carrots, parsnip & yorkshire. Accompanying vegetables - broccoli, cabbage, creamed leeks & squash. Plenty of gravy & absolutely delicious. Can't wait to return.

NO BETTER PLACE TO STAY 5Star PLUS Sasha, Lydia and all the staff were absolutely fantastic. Didn’t want for anything. We had some last minute friends turn up and they made our dinner reservation larger. Extra space for breakfast. Always top of the list when staying in Abergavenny, fantastic atmosphere. Genuinely can’t rate this place much higher.

Superb base for a couple of days' hiking in the Brecon Beacons with an old buddy. Twin room well-appointed and bed very comfortable; room and en suite spotless ; staff fantastic (AJ, Tomos, Marie, Sasha and Lauren) all really friendly, communicative, helpful, proactive; nothing was too much trouble for them; full English breakfast outstanding; beer delicious; atmosphere always vibrant and friendly. Will definitely return. Possibly the best base I've had in 45 years' hiking. Thanks, Mark (Yorkshire) Room: 5/5 -- Staff: 5/5 -- Service: 5/5 -- Atmosphere: 5/5 -- Location: 5/5

Lovely place for drinks and lunch sitting outside. Would recommend this place and will return. One thing to point out that the table system can be chaotic when busy and may have to wait. Reasonable prices for food and drinks. All well presented too. Staff friendly
