Detailed Reviews
The food was exceptional, the staff were very attentive and the place was wonderfully clean. We stayed in the double deluxe room, which had a freestanding bath and a private toilet. The bed was very comfortable, and the little extras (tea, coffee etc) were greatly appreciated - the hot chocolate sachets were lovely! We felt the room definitely reflected the price we paid. The staff all wore visors which was reassuring, and all tables inside and out were socially distanced, which gave us peace of mind.

This is my second stay at the King’s Arms Hotel and it was just as wonderful as my first. Every single detail is thought through with not only your comfort in mind, but also your sense of relaxation and happiness! I travelled with my dog, who was made as welcome as I was - a gorgeous dog bed, water and food bowls and treats to boot. Dinner was delicious, the Hake - perfect with the tastiest potato croquettes. Best of all, the cups for the in-room tea or coffee in the morning are full size cups, not the little ones you can sometimes find on your travels. All staff are upbeat, warm and helpful, a sure sign that the whole place is run well, from staff to residents everyone’s wellbeing is clearly important here. This is an absolute gem of a place to stay. I will be back again and again. Thank you.

My wife booked this place for the night of my Birthday on our daughter's recommendation. So glad she did. We arrived at midday and were checked in straight away by very pleasant staff who showed us to our room and had the luggage taken up. The room was lovely, as was the rest of this very old building, which has wonderful features throughout. We had a light lunch in the bar, which was great and they gave us a complimentary drink as it was my Birthday. The Wye Valley beer was superb and both dinner in the evening and breakfast the following day were superb. Every member of staff was so helpful, courteous and friendly and the price we paid was such great value for the quality of the accomodation and the food and drinks. We will, most definitely, return. Well done and thank you so much to all at the Kings.

Visited here for the weekend with my parents, for a short break away as for obvious reasons we haven't been able to get away for a while. We were perhaps a little apprehensive as it was our first trip away since the start of the pandemic, but we had nothing to worry about.
Check-in was easy and friendly, sat at a table with everything explained to us. Our bags were carried to our rooms and from then on nothing was ever too much trouble. We had a table booked for dinner that evening which was excellent and we were sat in a nice spacious room without needing to worry about how close we were to other people.
The weather also allowed us to enjoy drinks in the sun where the table service was fast and efficient service with a smile and a chat, and the drinks much cheaper than they are back home.
Breakfast was from a good menu, where you just handed in a form the night before to say what you wanted and the next morning it would be delivered to your table.
The building itself is full of character and that was reflected in the friendliness of the staff who make this place what it is. It was a joy to visit the Kings Arms and I hope to get back there again one day.

We stayed as a group of 14 friends occupying 7 of the bedrooms and we could not have wished for a nicer or more comfortable stay.
We were met by the friendly and efficient manger who happily took our bags up to our rooms herself “in case the rooms weren’t completely ready”. The quirky 17th century flooring upstairs served to enhance the experience. The individual rooms are large and warm and the beds comfortable. There was plenty of hot water for bath and shower.
We had booked a large table in the function room to eat and watch the rugby on a big screen.
The food and drink were super. The rugby was disappointing but not the fault of the Kings Arms.
Every one of our group remarked on how friendly and engaging the whole staff were. We will definitely be staying again as this is an ideal base for exploring some of Britain’s most beautiful countryside.

We were having a meal in a restaurant where our Grandson works so decided to stay over for the night instead of driving back. So booked the Kings Arms, we were met by a lovely lady who checked if our room was ready as we were early, it wasn't quite ready so we had a snack lunch in their outdoor seating area, which was really nice, we had a cheese platter to share again very good. After a wander around we were shown to our room, which was very spacious and a large bathroom with a jacuzzi type bath and a separate shower. All very well appointed, soft white towels, all spotlessly clean. We had a drink in the bar, before going out and on our return, breakfast the following morning was very good, I had avocado on toast, and my Husband had a selection from the full breakfast. We would most definitely stay again, staff were friendly and helpful, lovely oldey worldly establishment but well appointed

We had an absolutely wonderful time celebrating my wife's 60th Birthday with a fully catered party with musician and disco in the delightful function room. Staff were so helpful and put up the decorations for us, sorted the tables out and made the space look so stunning. Food was excellent, staff were helpful, charming and cheerful throughout the evening and really made it feel special. Music by Jim Ramsey and disco by Matt Lane really made the party vibrant. We stayed overnight in a lovely four-poster bedroom which was spotless, comfortable, spacious with sofa and chair, on-suite shower room and plenty of storage. Breakfast next morning was first class with excellent locally sourced products. Heartily recommend the Kiings Arms both as a venue and as a place to stay. Well done all concerned - many thanks. Bruce & Sue

Visited The Kings Arms for my Brother in Laws funeral wake. We also stayed the night there.
From the moment we arrived until we left we were looked after. A lovely quirky old Coach Inn, with uneven floors, just added to the charm. Our room was ready for us on our early arrival. Room 6 a lovely little room with an excellent bathroom. One tiny gripe was that the wardrobe, though in keeping with the room, wasn't tall enough for our long coats etc.
The function room is a lovely room out the back of the small courtyard. We had tabke service for drinks and never had to wait for long to be served.
The buffet was excellent with everything clearly home made. We were also given very good quality boxes to put any leftovers in to take with us.
Slept very well in the lovely comfy bed. Then went downstairs, a little earlier than we had put down on our pre ordered breakfast sheet, but again that was no trouble. The porridge was the nicest I had ever eaten. Plenty of toast and the cooked full English, though not massive, was very good quality.
The owners of The Kings Arms should be very proud of their Staff, they are an absolute credit to the Hotel.
We will definitely be back next year.

Went to the Kings Arms for my sisters wedding reception on the weekend and it was absolutely perfect!
We were in the large function room in the back which had been beautifully decorated and had loads of space for all of the guests. Due to Covid restrictions the bar was table service only but there were always staff close by to ask for a drink and service was really speedy even with all of us in there. There was a delicious hog roast meal with fresh crusty loaves, beetroot coleslaw, creamy potato salad and more! They also catered for the vegetarians and vegans among us with jackfruit instead of the pork. -They even boxed up what we didn't have room to eat and we took it home and ate it again! -no detail had been spared!
They made us feel really welcome and special and I would 100% recommend the Kings Arms! Thank you very much to all the team!

Luke warm food. I ordered a pumpkin burger and upon arrival I was very impressed with it's look. I cut the burger in half and bit into it to find it was Luke warm. I then touched the centre to find no heat. I informed them and they took it back. Around ten minutes later after my friend had finished Thier meal they returned with another burger I then cut that in half and found that that was lukewarm also. I let them know that yet again the burger wasn't hot to be told the last one was hot. I said it was luke warm, she said well I ate it and it was fine, I thought to myself I put my finger in that burger to check the temperature and you've just ate it. She took the burger back saying while 'you're only having the same burger back" I said that's fine it came back no temperature difference.... she said that's how the burgers are... I said what luke warm? I said you shouldn't be serving lukewarm food! it was a shame because what I did bite in to was delicious. I ate my delicious fries drank my nice coffee and wasted the burger as I didn't want to have a stomach upset from being served lukewarm food as I'm unsure it had reached the correct temperature to begin with. The attitude of the staff was disgusting. She said I know that the customer is always right but I checked the temperature and it was fine. All fair and well if you're a baby and can't eat hot food. Now I know why this pub was not as busy as other pubs on a bank holiday Monday. I gave an extra dot rating for the delicious fries.

Thanks for your question. We have an enclosed courtyard which is non-smoking during food service and an outside area where smoking is permitted at any time.
