We've just returned from a wonderful week spent at the Shepherds Cottage. Much has already been said in previous reviews about how comfortable, clean, well equipped and cosy the cottage is, all of which we agree with. The outside of the cottage and the garden are 'chocolate box' pretty and the view from the terrace is stunning. We found so much to do during our stay that a week really wasn't long enough. We particularly enjoyed walking up Pen Y Fan and Sugar Loaf and we had an amazing day walking the popular Four Waterfalls trail in the Brecon Beacons, which starts at the Cwm Porth car park. Sandra and Chris both gave us a very warm welcome and were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, without being intrusive. We also enjoyed making friends with Jack The Dog and Crystal and Ken The Ponies. We booked this cottage on a whim following our foreign holiday being cancelled due to Covid. What a good decision we made, as we had a brilliant time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Just back from the beautiful shepherds cottage. The views are magnificent and the sheep coming to greet us at the gate were adorable. Our hosts Chris and Sandra were so welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely be going back.

I can highly recommend the shepherd's cottage. We needed a cosy and quiet break away from it all and this was the perfect place :) it has everything you need, and plenty of things you don't actually need but are amazing anyway like the wood burner and a fantastic view!! Chris and Sandra made us so welcome too thanks so much!

We loved our stay in the Shepherds Cottage as did the dog. It was the perfect spot to both access the resources of Abergavenny town (and the local pub) but also walk straight out onto the hills and up to the "Sugarloaf" through the gnarly oak forest. This area really is the gateway to the Brecons. Great views over the valley and so, even though it was too cold to sit for long outside, there was a sense of spaciousness. The cottage had everything you'd want: warm, comfortable, clean, well equipped kitchen, comfy bed, lots of local information. Chris and Sandra were very welcoming. We hope to return. Thank you.

We stayed for four nights and although the weather was a little gloomy the cottage was lovely. Well equipped, lovely kitchen and bathroom and a cozy mezzanine bedroom. The central heating kept the cottage warm. The views, even with the cloudy skies, are beautiful. Good base to get out and about an explore the area. We would defiantly like to visit again. Thank you Chris and Sandra, very welcoming hosts.

Absolutely beautiful loved every minute. Our dogs milly and Mia thoroughly enjoyed it. Clean and immaculate cosy with everything you need . Had great evening's sitting outside with the chimenea watching the bats and listening to the owls. Lovely wood burner inside. Sat for hours just chilling views and weather amazing. Always enjoy Abergavenny farmers market. The Blorenge mountain and wonderful Crickhowell and Bridgend pub and beer garden overlooking the river Usk. Hosts truly lovely people so friendly and welcoming. Honestly can't fault it. Definitely will stay again. Sue and John Berry from Dover.

Had a wonderful time. The location is amazing with fab views, all enhanced by the Chris and Sandra offering great suggestions of where to go and eat and drink. Cottage was perfect for the two of us with all the facilities you could want and more. Topped off by the outside BBQ and fire with as much wood as you can burn. All in all a great place in a great location with lovely hosts.

We stayed at the cottage for 5 nights in early August. It was a gem of a find. Only a mile or so from Abergavenny and local amenities but was perched on the hill side seemingly miles from civilisation. The cottage was quaint but with all mod cons including washer, dish washer and gas bbq. Chris and Sandra were perfect hosts, non intrusive but on hand if needed. A perfect spot for a romantic getaway. We can't recommend enough

The cottage is a picture postcard dream, well presented, clean and very comfortable. The pictures are a true reflection of the cottage, which has all the mods cons we needed, i.e. dishwasher, washing machine, central heating, wifi etc. There is also a log burner in the lounge for cosy evenings in, and chimera outside on the patio for sunny evenings outside.
Chris and Sandra couldn’t be more helpful, going out of their way to make sure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed, and suggested good places to visit and eat.
The views from the place are stunning and it's great to sit outside on the evening chilling with a glass or two watching the sunset. We did the walk from the back of the cottage up to the top of the Derry several times with the dog and one day went all the way up to the top of the Sugar Loaf (mountain) from the cottage and back in about four hours without seeing any tarmac and the dog having a great time - great walk with stunning views all along the walk and from the top of the Sugar Loaf.
We had a wonderful time at the place and the town and surrounding area is very dog friendly, nearly every shop and eatery allows (well behaved) dogs in.
If you want a lovely quiet holiday, with fabulous views and convivial hosts, you can’t do better than to book the Shepherds Cottage.

If you want a little Welsh cottage nestling in gorgeous countryside away from it all with the most amazing views then this is the place for you. The cottage has everything you need and more with highlights for us being the space outside perfect for our woofer, the patio area with barbecue and chimenea, and the woodburner inside. Chris and Sandra were lovely and couldn't be more helpful - they even gave us a big bowl of cherries they had picked one morning! The cottage is well looked after with a well stocked kitchen, great WiFi, a good hot shower and was very clean. We walked up Sugar Loaf Mountain directly from the front door and walked to the pub a short distance away. Abergavenney is a great little market town and we shopped locally for all our supplies. Do not hesitate to book this little gem - you really won't regret it.
