Had a great stay visiting the motorbike festival with some friends. lovely balcony and patio overlooking Railway, Canal, and treetops.A nice one mile walk down the Towpath into the centre of Llangollen
Fine welcome from our hosts, comfortable accommodation, homely place with excellent views, near the attractions, right next to the canal. Good food, friendly dog and nothing not to like, even had excellent weather during my canal cycling trip.
If you happen to be in Llangollen (and the penalty for mis-pronunciation is being smacked around the head with a stale Bara Brith) this is a fantastic place for an overnight stay. As we got out of the car Mine Host was standing by the door, full of smiles. After greetings, the next thing was the offer of a brew, and a goodly brew it were! The house just oozes charm and character, with some great paintings, one of which I would happily have nicked if I thought that I'd get away with it. Our bed, which required a map and compass to get from one side to the other, was on an Egyptian theme - although less camels, you will be relieved to know. A goodly night's kip ensued. Now, breakfast, served at our choice of time, i.e. late. (Vegetarians, please look away now.) Superb quality, thick rashers of local bacon, an obviously butcher-rather-than-supermarket made Snorker, beautiful deep-yellow yoked eggs, a lovely fresh tomato and more toast than you can imagine. The marmalade was home-made and spectacularly good. Breakfast was taken (!) in a conservatory affair, overlooking the mountains, forest, fields full of sheep, the River Dee, the Llangollen Canal and, the Llangollen Railway, and all archetypically Welsh. Bacon and steam-engine whistles beat the Heck out of caviare and trumpets, I can tell you. Incidentally, the breakfast was so huge, Mrs M couldn't eat all hers, so I got a spare Banger. Tee Hee. Oh, and coffee. Coffee. Lashings of hot, fresh coffee. The next three hours was spent waddling. Mike and Jane were positively charming people, full of wit and humour, which just enhances the whole experience. Must find a good reason to spend another night in Llangollen.…
We spent a lovely weekend in this B&B on our way to meet our son and his family for a week in Wales and it was an excellent place to start, the welcome was warm and and the room comfortable. This place is right above the canal, the garden slopes steeply down and the dinning room is on stilts to bring it level with the back of the house. Breakfast is excellent and evening meals can be had by prior arrangement. There are quite a few places to walk to from there and it is ideal for seeing the area.
we went here for 2nights with biker friends on our bikes and trikes the owners are fab as are the rooms and the setting so beautiful this was a great location, fab food and company welcoming and hospitality second to none
