Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A very warm welcome from our hosts Jane and Mike. Our room was very clean and comfortable and had a large ensuite bathroom. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice with beautiful views across the valley from the conservatory breakfast room. Onsite parking and a short walk along the canal towpath into the town made it an ideal location.

We spent 4 weeks last year along the Cornwall and Devon coast and stayed in a different place each night. This is one of the worst places we have ever stayed!!! Originally booked for 2 nights, but we made our excuses after one. There is NO KEY FOR YOUR ROOM, so anyone can go in there when you are out. Everywhere was dusty and just looked unloved. Even the literature in the hall was dusty. No WiFi. The room was small, no hot water the next morning. Cobwebs in the room. The breakfast was good but this did not make up for the neglect of the house. We paid £100 for the night, an absolute ripoff!! We weren't going to leave a review and leave it to experience BUT, I read the reviews here first and looked at their website and it looked amazing,. The video on the website must have been done about 20 years ago!! The breakfast room did NOT look like the video. Still had some Christmas Dec's around. Its a 25 minute walk into Llangollen, not 15. Mike did say they were cutting back on guests. You could tell their hearts are not in it.. A very DISAPPOINTING experience. It spoiled our time in Llangollen.

Taking your spurious complaints in the order in which they appear; We only let one room. Are you suggesting we should be unable to enter your room to clean it or are you suggesting that we might steal your belongings. Everywhere was not dusty. We have WIFi but you did not ask for the code. Yes the room is our smallest but it has a large ensuite. There is always hot water. Your shower is electric and the water for bath and basin are heated by an oil boiler every morning and evening. Did you ask at anytime during your stay for us to check the facilities? You paid £50 per person for B&B. Originally you booked 2 nights which would have been £45 per person per night. These prices are around the average for Llangollen in September. As you left after one night the rate is £50 per person per night. You did not mention any of your concerns to us during your stay. Instead you made up an excuse to leave and decided to write a spiteful review. In 30 years of business this is the first “ terrible” review. It is to be hoped that people reading our reviews would see yours standing out like a sore thumb .

We stayed at the Bryn Merion B&B this weekend after deciding to find somewhere with more character than a Premier Inn. It did not disappoint, its a lovely B&B and Jane and Mike were very welcoming and friendly. Nice clean room and en suite, and the bed was super comfy. The views from the conservatory are beaut, as was the cooked breakfast! Nice selection of fruit and cereals too. We would definitely return, thanks so much for having us! Jodie & Callum

If you happen to be in Llangollen (and the penalty for mis-pronunciation is being smacked around the head with a stale Bara Brith) this is a fantastic place for an overnight stay. As we got out of the car Mine Host was standing by the door, full of smiles. After greetings, the next thing was the offer of a brew, and a goodly brew it were! The house just oozes charm and character, with some great paintings, one of which I would happily have nicked if I thought that I'd get away with it. Our bed, which required a map and compass to get from one side to the other, was on an Egyptian theme - although less camels, you will be relieved to know. A goodly night's kip ensued. Now, breakfast, served at our choice of time, i.e. late. (Vegetarians, please look away now.) Superb quality, thick rashers of local bacon, an obviously butcher-rather-than-supermarket made Snorker, beautiful deep-yellow yoked eggs, a lovely fresh tomato and more toast than you can imagine. The marmalade was home-made and spectacularly good. Breakfast was taken (!) in a conservatory affair, overlooking the mountains, forest, fields full of sheep, the River Dee, the Llangollen Canal and, the Llangollen Railway, and all archetypically Welsh. Bacon and steam-engine whistles beat the Heck out of caviare and trumpets, I can tell you. Incidentally, the breakfast was so huge, Mrs M couldn't eat all hers, so I got a spare Banger. Tee Hee. Oh, and coffee. Coffee. Lashings of hot, fresh coffee. The next three hours was spent waddling. Mike and Jane were positively charming people, full of wit and humour, which just enhances the whole experience. Must find a good reason to spend another night in Llangollen.

Thank you for your rib tickling review. We enjoyed your company and your erudite comments. Was the painting which you lusted after the cowboy and horse? Hurry up and “ find a good reason to spend another night in Llangollen” No need for the stale bara brith in your case.

We spent a lovely weekend in this B&B on our way to meet our son and his family for a week in Wales and it was an excellent place to start, the welcome was warm and and the room comfortable. This place is right above the canal, the garden slopes steeply down and the dinning room is on stilts to bring it level with the back of the house. Breakfast is excellent and evening meals can be had by prior arrangement. There are quite a few places to walk to from there and it is ideal for seeing the area.
