Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hotel's Favourite
We stayed for 2 nights from 1-3rd July. After reading some of the reviews I wondered if we were staying in the same hotel! From the time of arrival the reception staff were wonderful and very courteous. The room far exceeded our expectations (we stayed in room 17). We overlooked the river which was an amazing view. The eating area outside was brilliant for those hot days. The staff were very pleasant and dealt with any query efficiently. The room was lovely and very clean with a supply of tea, coffee etc. The breakfasts were wonderful, cooked perfectly with lots of choice. Must give the young waitress Freya a mention, nothing was too much trouble for her. She went above and beyond what was expected of her and if she didn’t know the answer to something she went to find out. She always had a smile and paid lots of attention to what was going on around her. The food from the restaurant was well cooked and reasonably priced. The entertainment on Saturday night was brilliant. We will definitely return! Thanks for a lovely stay!

Just returned from a nice stay in this hotel with my fiancé and our 3 yo daughter along with our parents. The hotel is an old historic place which is what we were after, our family room (19) was great with everything we needed and clean.. the same is true about our parents double rooms too. The view of the river from our rooms was amazing and the breakfast and dinner was really nice. Huge free car park and great location, just a couple of minutes walk into the town centre. Great atmosphere in the bar on Saturday night for the live band 9:30-11:30. Would definitely return in the summer maybe next time to make use of the fantastic beer garden overlooking the river.

Easy parking, and a friendly and efficient check-in, then stairs and corridors (no lift) to the room. On the positive side, it was mostly clean and comfortable, but there were many faults: There were blood stains on the 'spare' blanket. The wash basin was in the bedroom (not the bathroom)! Bizarre! I've never had to leave the bathroom to wash my hands... The bath was so old that the enamel was rough to the touch, and stained. The bathroom ceiling was darkening with mould. The extractor fan was so loud, it sounded like a generator.... The facilities (bar, restaurant, etc), whilst dated in places, were generally lovely, especially the outside bar next to the river - albeit we didn't get the weather to enjoy that. Superb breakfasts, and the staff all helpful and nice, but the rooms obviously need work. There's some evidence of improvements being made, so maybe next year....

We booked for two nights but left after one, as the mattresses on both beds were sagging and yet lumpy. I was promised a call from the manay which never came. I did have an email when I complained, they checked and mattresses were found to be firm. My back says different. We were offered another room, but having lost faith, as they put paying guests with the worst option first, did not believe it would be an upgrade. Stay clear.

What a town to take a day off in! My wife and I walked Offa's Dyke, and we were happy to have been in Llangdollen. Best about the hotel? The woman who was the manager that Saturday! We got there too late to do our laundry, and the launder state was closed on Sunday. However, the kind lady took home our laundry! Thank you, thank you! And the buffet breakfast was the best breakfast of the entire walk!

We called in yesterday for a bit of lunch and a lovely view. Partners soup was a small bowl of pale green and watery broccoli soup with an even smaller roll. I had an old, dry portion of salad, no dressing, with greasy fried white bait that tasted well past it's best before date. We were finished long before our 2 cappucinos arrived, which were undrinkable, one extremely bitter, the other like water. Both had something synthetic on top. This was very disappointing considering the town is full of good places to eat and drink - we will never go there again for sure. The view was good and the sun was shining.

Very disappointing. Was expecting a lot more from this place. Food wasn't great, my friend recommended a gâteau type desert that he had the night before so I thought I'd order one. It was nothing like what he had, and when I questioned it, the miserable looking guy who had brought it said they had ran out. To be perfectly honest it looked as if someone had ran out to an Iceland store and brought the cheapest looking desert from the freezer counter. And on the same evening a couple of the lads had ordered a decent bottle of shiraz wine from the drinks menu priced at £32. Only to discover a price label of £6.99 was still on the bottle. You wouldn't want to spend more than two nights there for sure and only stay for B&B. Definitely Faulty Towers material. And we won't be going again.

Came here in November 2022 for a weekend witn friends. The hotel was very welcoming and the staff were lovely. The room was comfortable although my bed felt like it was on a slope. That aside I was perfectly comfortable. The room was also clean. My room was front facing so I could hear people from the hotel bar very early in the morning but I'm a heavy sleeper so not a big issue. If you're a light sleeper I would ask for al room at the back of the building. I'd come here again and enjoyed my stay.

We stayed at The Hand last night to attend a wedding locally. We have stayed at The Hand numerous times, and once again had a great stay, everything perfect, from check in, to the room to breakfast this morning. Great location.
