Standing above a beautiful stretch of the River Dee close to the centre of the pretty market town of Llangollen. The Hand Hotel with its stunning riverside garden, old world charm, ample free parking and home cooked food from our popular restaurant, is ideal for romance, for families, and groups, whether private or business, as well as for your wedding or conference.

The hotel is charming and convenient. The single rooms were spacious (room 4 was much bigger than room 2) and clean. Breakfast was excellent. Recommended. And the price was really good for what the hotel offers. Good spot for town an there's a car park. Staff friendly, good bar with fireside chairs and good views from the dining area.

After pre-booking a single room for 2 nights, upon arrival the receptionist decided to put me in a double room for no extra charge. Good start. I had room 25, for a single person it was ample size. Everything worked as it should; decent tv, tea/coffee/biscuit facilities, nice high ceilings. It was spotlessly clean and had a modern ensuite shower. It was lovely and quiet and despite the rather lumpy bed I slept quite well. The hotel is in the centre of the town, close to everything you need. It is quite historic and the literature informed that amongst others, Katherine and Aubrey Hepburn had stayed here. The few staff I met were fine. I have a minimum breakfast (c/flakes/boiled eggs/toast) so I cannot tell you what a full English was like. There seemed to be ample parking and…

As others have stated this place could do with a bit of an update. We found the beds comfortable, free parking, very clean and tidy and a lovely cooked breakfast in the morning. Perfect for our needs as it is directly next to the white water rafting company who we had also booked with. Thank you

We have just returned from another great stay at the Hand, visiting the Thomas the Tank Engine weekend at Llangollen Steam Railway. This is truly the most beautiful time to visit, with the valley ablaze with rich hues of autumn colour, an uplifting feast for the eyes. The standard of cleanliness was very high, and the traditional fires made for a cosy touch. Thanks to Mike and Stuart for their exceptionally attentive service, always good to have them on duty. Saturday evening entertainment was excellent, and the cosy bar area and rear parlour are great for relaxing with friends.Well done, Denise and staff.

The hotel is in an ideal location, in the middle of Llangollen. Plenty of car parking spaces. Although the hotel itself looks rather tired and dated, the bedroom and bathroom were very clean, shower not brilliant though. We had a nice room overlooking the river. However, there is no lift, and we had to walk along lots of little corridors and up several flights of stairs to reach our room, there are also steps to reach the dining room, not a problem for us, but I didn't notice any ground floor rooms, so I'm not sure if there are any disabled facilities. Reception and bar staff were very friendly and helpful.

This is a very Special place for me,Brilliant location near the sleepy Welsh town of Llangollen.the food is good and surrounded by excellent Restaurants and antique shops. Overlooking the river with picturesque views of steam- railway. The hotel does not have a lift but it doesn't matter.
