Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed at the West Cottage for a week in January and we loved it so much, we have booked another week later in the year. A week at Point Lynas provides a great getaway, a peaceful and different holiday with lots of opportunities for walking and watching wildlife. We had hoped for storms, but in the event we had dry and sunny weather most of the week.

Iona gave us a lovely welcome; the owners, as others have said, are very friendly and helpful and have put a lot of thought into what a guest staying at a self-catering cottage would need.

The cottage was very clean with lots of room. There is a bathroom with a shower and there are two double beds, one en-suite. A twin room and large living room with a pair of rocking chairs and a settee. The bedrooms face the courtyard, the living room looks out to sea and the kitchen has windows on both sides. Please see photos. From the West Cottage we saw some stunning sunsets. East Cottage gets the rising sun and views out to Snowdonia.

It appears pets are permitted at the East Cottage but not the West.

Guests are able to access the platform in front of the light. It’s a great place to look for porpoises and dolphins but to see the seals you may be better off walking down closer to the rocks. There are lots of paths.

The nearest shops and pubs are at Amlwch which is about 3 miles away. It’s a good walk via the coast path and back on the roads via Llaneilian. The coast path is muddy in places, you will need walking boots. Having an Ordnance Survey map enhanced the visit for us. A car is pretty much essential, not least for exploring other parts of Anglesey. We visited some of the prehistoric burial chambers at Lligwy and Bryn Celli Ddu. Most places on the island can be reached in a short drive, half hour or so.

Took our dog for a walk up this breathtaking point- well worth it as the views are amazing! Public footpaths all around, and we spotted seals, porpoise, dolphins and birds of prey. The car park nearby is free just small and no overnight parking. Felt a little self conscious that we were walking right past self catering cottages up there but we tried to be respectful and keep our distance and we didn't see a soul! Sure it would be a lovely place to stay at and enjoy the sunset!

Walked with the dogs from the public carpark to the lighthouse via the road and stopped off on the way at a little bay. Really pleasant and able to see the lighthouse lamp up close. Great views out to sea and relatively quiet so a good relaxing experience to pass an hour or two.

Iam so sad that i will never stay here again. It was our 4th stay which we have loved over the years. We have just had the most stressful week in the east keepers cottage. On arriving & went to use the toilet it was hanging off the wall & the pedestal was also not bolted down.A stella beer cardboard box had been folded & pushed under the pedestal. We contacted the care taker Rick who asked for photos which we provided.he said he will send a plumber Today, no plumber arrived. That was on 20th April our arrival day.the plumber came out on 24th April which wasn't good enough. The cottage was dirty very dusty. We reported that the bulbs in the kitchen were out appart from two out of eight. The main walk in shower the filter was blocked so all water was going into the bathroom area & out came the the mop & bucket. These concerns were reported to Rick the care taker but didn't get resolved till the Tuesday 23rd whe he did put 3 bulbs in & cleaned out the shower drain. The self-catering cottage had everything but the oven door didn't shut properly so food i.e oven chips fish fingers took over a hour so food wasn't getting to the right temperatures this wasant rectified & he said he will look into it which he did not do during our weeks stay or bring an air fryer to make our life easier. The frying pan needs replacing not fit for purpose no none stick everthing sticking. The kettle was very tempimental one minute it worked the next it didnt. Rick the caretaker said because its fully booked no time to check everything, we have stayed at this property over the years under different hosts & always spotless n everything working. When the so called cleaner's come in on change over day need to be on the ball with cleanliness i.e shower filters cleaned of hair & report any findings of broken or not fit for purpose items &
replacement of bulbs. So upset & felt as if its just about money. Mrs lindsay pritchard.

Our 3rd stay in West Cottage and not our last! Fabulous place to stay, so peaceful and quiet and in beautiful surroundings. If you're lucky you'll see the seals and porpoises and enjoy the high winds and rough tides! Perfect place to get away from everything.....what's not to like. 😀

My Lords, Ladies and Gentlemen, you are reading the word of an old bloke that speaks with authority, for this was our seventh (7th) visit to Point Lynas Lighthouse, or Goleudy Trwyn Elianus, if you want it in Welsh. The is a magical place, with an atmosphere you could cut with a butter-knife. The light is still operational, controlled remotely by Trinity House, but the cottages are privately owned by a lovely couple, Iona and Robin. We were in West Cottage, which gets some magnificent sunsets, whilst East Cottage gets the sunrises, but I don't do sunrises when I'm on holiday - or, indeed, any other time! The cottage is really well equipped,.nicely heated, a touch quirky with some older features, a fantastic wood-burning stove (with logs provided), comfortable furniture and a kitchen that contains everything you could possibly want except a computerised egg-timer. There were utensils that I had to ask 'Er Indoors what they were for. Incidentally, whilst the lighthouse is beautifully remote, there are shops within easy distance at Amlwch or Benllech. We were left some milk, a packet of Welshcakes (Iona knows me well) a couple of bars of chocolate and some bickies. The weather was as rough as one could hope for, which provided a unique atmosphere, with 80 MPH winds, rain, sleet, hail, snow, fog, sunshine - in fact everything except plagues of frogs and a touch of thunder. I can truthfully say that this was one of the best holidays I have ever had, and Point Lynas is superb whatever the time of year. But now, back on the diet and get rid of the half a stone I put on in a single week. Don't worry, Iona, we'll be back!!!!

After a year of big changes we decided to try something a little different and chose to stay in the East Cottage at Point Lynas Lighthouse.
This was probably the best idea and best cottage we had stayed in in a very long time.
It's a cosy, lovely place to stay with stunning views from the dining room and yes, you read this correctly, one of the bathrooms.
Even more stunning than this is the location which has panoramic views, whales, porpoises, dolphins can all be seen from the shore if lucky, the ships queuing to enter Liverpool in the distance, the lighthouse itself.
You can spend hours during the day and the evening just taking in the fresh air and views without actually going anywhere. A short walk away is a little beach. A longer coastal walk to the nearest town is worth it for the surprises on the way and a pint at one of the local pubs.
The owners show a real passion for the place and are very proud as they should be of their stunning home.
Everywhere is Anglesey is less than an hours drive away and it's easy to get around with some, once again, stunning beaches and scenery.
Point Lynas is well deserving of these 5 stars it's a place where dreams are made.
Our family and Zack the dog had one of the best weeks of our lives and can't wait until we can book it again .

We booked this weekend away through Menai Holiday Cottages. West cottage was was excellent and had more than enough of everything you would need for a comfortable stay. The owners could not have been more helpful or approachable and would have done more if we had requested it. The log fire was on all day and provided a perfect environment for pure relaxation. It is definitely somewhere we would stay again and we have already recommended it to others on our return home.
