Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a brilliant week here recently, great hosts, with breakfast being the best. Such a peaceful and quiet place to stay, and ideally suited to explore the whole of North Wales. We hope to return in the future.

We spent a lovely 4 night holiday here. The views from our bedroom and our bathroom were spectacular. We received a warm welcome and good advice on trips out and places to eat. There's a big sitting room for guests too.

We spent a wonderful family weekend at Pengwern - the rooms/bathrooms were immaculately clean and comfortable, the breakfast was superb, great quality with generous servings. The hosts were friendly, welcoming and more than happy to share their local knowledge of walks/hikes in the area.

Lovely room, with great view and everything to hand - tea and coffee, Welsh cakes etc. Bathroom well stocked with all you need and fluffy dressing gowns much appreciated. Tea provided in the comfortable sitting room on arrival and upon return from a day’s climbing. Excellent breakfast, with high quality options. A very pleasant stay indeed .

We stayed at Pengwern for a 3 night break, we found the place to be stunning and a fabulous welcome from Gwawr. Faultless food and luxurious accommodation, fully recommended. We’ll be back again when we go back up North. Martin, Louise & Zac from Milford Haven

The self catering "annexe" to the house. Absolutely perfect for two. Well appointed kitchen. Lounge has a mezzanine/balcony bedroom which has a neat ensuite shower room. All fitted out with style. It made a perfect base for touring North Wales. Would certainly go again. Nice to be able to walk into Betws-y-coed - a few hundred yards on the pavement and then through a gate to go across country. A torch is a necessity after sundown!
