Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

Stayed in the bunkhouse during the Coronavirus pandemic, impressed they were able to sort me out a room by myself.

Food was reasonable (burger), although in the room i had to put one mattress on top of another because they were so thin and had little support. The staff were also fairly noisy after closing time, kept me awake.

At £25 per night my bed fellow were treated with a double bunk room with en-suite! Large room for two, loads of space to spread our gear out before and after are marathon. The bathroom was perfectly adequate, I managed to get a very cool shower which was what was needed after a day out in unusually hot conditions. A little noisy in the evening with residents talking loudly at silly o clock and some goby sheep in the car park having a chat at 4am.. but out of control of the hotel! The only negative bit was the mattress were old and tired and I felt I was being massaged by a thousand springs!
You get for what you pay for! Central location, very cheap!

The accommodation is perfect for anybody that is visiting the Snowdonia national park.
Basic accommodation but we only needed a bed to sleep on, during our charity fundraising weekend.
Friendly staff, great food and also a great selection of ales/ciders.
I would say that the rooms are looking "dated" and in need of being spruced up. If you have any mobility issues, request a lower floor room, as some rooms are in the attic and access is by 4 flights of stairs.
The showers in the rooms need to be sorted, as in 2 of our rooms, it wasn't possible to lower the temperature and the water was extremely hot. In fact i was having to rebound the water off the tiled walls to cool it down. Far too hot to put a young child in.
The bar/eating area is huge and there is also a large area at the front and the back, for eating/drinking outside. Food always arrived within 20mins of ordering, which was great considering they were extremely busy.
The rear garden also has a decked area and fire pits in the garden.
We did have a great time though and all in all, found The Heights Bunkhouse, to be adequate for all of our needs.

This building situated in the middle(ish) of Llanberis high street.
Arrived a little earlier than check in time but perfectly adequate parking to leave the car and go have a wander. The website for the bunkhouse doesn’t scream about the fact there’s a beautiful lake just behind them. I went for a swim but could see there was kayak boat hire etc.
Then there’s the pub garden out the front of the bunkhouse. Beautiful.
All socially distanced, a very pleasant space in such a lush part of the country. Had an evening meal here on my 2nd night, was nice. Filled me up after a days hike. Staff extremely accommodating, helpful & kind. They even put love island on for me & it’s the little touches that make a visit so thank you. Will say that maybe keep the angry chef in the kitchen ;-) staff seemed tense around him. I suppose there’s a fine line between a waiter that doesn’t listen and a chef wanting to keep communication open because he did make me jump telling all the staff off because someone had ordered a burger which he stated wasn’t available. I’m an anxious guy and I nearly ordered the exact burger he wasn’t happy about being ordered hahaha...

The bedroom was on the top floor, typical. But served its purpose for what it was needed which was to get my head down & wash etc. Shower hot, towel rail needs replacing.
Would have been nice to have a chair or something to put clothes or bits n bobs on. The decor inside the bedroom is tired but the building itself the location and everything else outweighs that so it doesn’t matter.
Is the housekeeping team men? Who is checking what housekeeping are completing because the standard of cleanliness was not particularly high and feel a female doing final checks may help with them final touches. Controversial but my opnion & if it is already a woman then housekeeping as whole needs extra training. I mean this lightheartedly & with respect.
If it was “four in bed”, cleanliness would have got a three.
My only other piece of feedback is potentially getting a security lock/code entrance for the entrance to the dorms? Seems in the daytime anyone could walk up there.

I absolutely loved my stay, I highly recommend. Beautiful location, loads to do, polite friendly staff excellent value for money &I thank you for having me.

Don’t be fooled, it’s nothing like YHA but that’s okay, I like my own pillow.

Reasonable price for a room in Llanberis. Bear in mind it is budget accommodation and you/your party do get exclusive use of the room due to Covid measures.

Central for all of Snowdonia and ideally situated for Sherpa service to Pen y Pass for Snowdon, Crib Goch etc. 30 minutes to Tryfan(Ogwen). 30 minutes to Betws-y-coed.

Friendly, helpful staff. Beer as it should be. Hearty plates of food.

The whole experience of this hostel was terrible. You can tell they rely on location to keep the customers coming and they make no effort to clean up the place or provide any type of decent customer service.

Majority of the bunk beds were falling apart, no ladders, bars falling out, and the mattresses were flat and had springs poking out. One room had a toilet that did not work and no effort was made to even clean it before we checked in, this was left to members of our group to tackle... unhygienic and unsafe!

If you're looking to stay in Llanberis i would avoid this place at all costs!

So at £25 a night I didn't have high expectations and I'm basing for context the 3/5 review in trying to keep in mind for £10 a night locally in Llanberis this gets a pitch at a campsite.

I stayed in a dorm with another 5 men, 6 of us in total with 3 bunk beds. The beds have a mattress, mattress protector and sheet but no duvet make sure you bring your sleeping bag.
The metal bunk creaked as I got in and the mattress has certainly seen better days, each spring made itself known. However after a day travelling the first day and the second day going up Snowdon I slept well enough once in my sleeping bag.
The other guys in my room were like minded and loved the outdoors and had some good tales to tell. This led to a fair few drinks being shared in the bar downstairs. One of the guys in my room says he's been here numerous times and would always stay here when in Llanberis.

In summary yes the rooms are basic. The shower won't win any awards, bathroom shared between 6 had no lock and the shower no door/curtain. But after a day walking it's somewhere warm and dry to put your head to rest. You can charge your mobile and stand a good chance of meeting some really interesting people with some great stories to share. It's no frills, cheap and does the job.

Normally cheaper, but with the dreaded COVID (no sharing rooms) actually worked out quite overpriced, clean, but in dire need of repair, beds crammed in, 10 bunks in our room, and could feel the springs through the mattresses, light in main room was barely a glow, so really needed a torch to see. Bathroom was in serious need to work, shower worked and was plenty of hot water, but the rest had definitely seen better days, cubicle leaked badly, no mirror, masher toilet was noisy and looked precariously (not quite) attached to the wall, fan went on for about an hour after turning the light on.
On a plus side the food was good, the pizza had rather burnt crusts, but was fine otherwise, had Guinness on tap which is lucky as they never had any Welsh ales!!!

I booked The Heights Bunkhouse based on the photos of the restaurant and food and the photos of the dorms looked fine, we only wanted basic accomodation for one night so it looked fine. For £32 a night I figured it must be.
I would say they have a fantastic photographer, it looks nothing like the photos at all.

After booking I was emailed to say they do not provide bedding, pillows or towels. Apparently it says so on the booking website which I found eventually but it was very hidden information which I think should be much more clearly stated before booking.
I asked to cancel but was told absolutely no refunds whatsoever. I soon came to realise why they do not do refunds once we arrived, I think they would have nobody stay.

On arrival we were shown to our room up some very filthy stairs with a pungent smell I still can’t pin point. We could not believe what room we were being asked to sleep in, prison cells would be an exceptional upgrade.

The bed sheets were dirty, the springs in the mattresses were all broken, one mattress was completely split down the side which exposed the springs inside, the floor was disgustingly filthy with bits dirt everywhere so clearly had not been hoovered in months if not more, in fact the whole room would not have been cleaned, it just couldn’t have been, the shower was riddled in mould and had black loose dirt all over the shower tray which we had to clean out before having a shower.
The toilet leaked from the waste pipe to the floor, the toilet seat wouldn’t stay up so had to be held up or if you sat down it would lean against your back, the sink was full of mould and there was a sticker from a previous customers clothing stuck to the wall next to the broken towel rail, just shocking. More shocking than the lack of bedding was the lack of a curtain or blind on the windows! As soon as the sun came up the room was lit up.

As a group of blokes we didn’t need anything fancy, but the one thing you’d expect is for it to be clean. I’ve stayed in some low end accomodation in the past but nothing came close to this.
We knew we wouldn’t get a refund so looked to get different accomodation but we couldn’t find anywhere at late notice so we stayed. We contemplated sleeping in the car but we were shattered after a 24hr event and decided to suck it up and just get our heads down and leave as quick as possible in the morning.
I wouldn’t let my dog sleep in that room.

The nail in the coffin was that we stayed in a hotel the evening before which cost £50, it was high end and modern, the room came with nice bedding, TV, WIFI, en-suite, complimentary shower robe, towels, hand towels, slippers with unlimited free filtered coffee, and an array of teas. For £18 more!? I would say this accomodation is better priced at £10.

Ordered the steak and Ale pie, chips and peas. The pie was so peppery I was unable to eat it even thou I was so hungry. If you don't like pepper don't order it. Giving you the heads up.
However my partner had the chilli and said it was delicious.
Staff are lovely and friendly.
The pub is old Welsh style which is not to everyone's tastes but we loved the atmosphere.
