Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed here on our Welsh Highland Railway Walk. With only two rooms, this B&B feels very much like you are in your hosts’ home. We had a peaceful and relaxing stay. The room was spacious and very comfortable and even though we faced the main street, the noise was minimal. The breakfast was delightful with different pancake options. Do not miss their pancakes. We also dropped in for lunch before departing and it was excellent. A great place to stay in a small Welsh village.

Stopped for takeaway drinks late morning. The tea rooms are quaint and the staff incredibly friendly. Although we didn’t eat, the menu looked varied and extensive. We will go back and eat there at some point as the coffees we had were delicious.

Had a beautifully freshly cooked scone with jam and clotted cream. Had a latte that was made to perfection. The rest of the family had ciabatta with a good selection of fillings and homemade chunky chips. However, was sad to see there was no baby changing facilities so had to change the baby on the toilet floor! Plus, 4 small drinks of apple juice concentrate poured from a large carton for our two grandchildren cost us £10!!

Response from Emma Selbie, Owner at Ty Mawr B&B and Tea Room
Responded 10 Aug 2021
Please ignore the above review as these guests did not visit our Tearoom (Ty Mawr B&B and Tearoom Rhyd Ddu) but another establishment nearby with a similar name. We do not serve ciabatta and chunky chips!

We arrived mid morning with indoor catering still not available and were welcomed through a window hatch to a very extensive menu - all at reasonable prices. Our hot drinks were nicely served in real crockery - and we had a good garden wall to sit on! Well worth the stop - and would definitely return again.

Spent 2 nights here as a base for Snowdonia activitiies. Highly recommended. Both Emma and Menno were very friendly and hospitable. The breakfast was superb - both the full cooked (suasages amazing), and the Dutch pancakes.

Great welcome, comfortable room, excellent breakfast in terms of range of choice and quality and a good lunch sandwich pack. Very handy for walks and having good food in pub in the evening. Great to have boots dry in the warm. We only the "tea" once but that was good too.

We recently stayed for 1 night at Ty Mawr. We had the double en suite room. It was very spacious, clean, warm and had everything we wanted, including a couple of slices of bara brith which was delicious. The breakfast was fresh and delicious, served in the quaint tea rooms. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful in their advice regarding local amenities. We would love to stay again and have more time to walk up Snowdon.

Popped in with my family on a Saturday morning. Recommended by my husband as he has been before after a hike up/down Snowdon. Great food , friendly hosts and the best pancake I've ever had ! Well worth a visit.

Staying in Rhyd Ddu we visited Ty Mawr a couple of times for a drink and a snack. The main room is quite unlike any other I've visited - everything looks like it's been collected from somewhere along the way - from the pictures via the hangings to the chairs and tables (there's a large chair that looks like it wants to be a rocking chair - looking out onto the road - my wife nearly fell asleep in it twice, I didn't get a look-in). In out visits we had tea, coffee, chocolate, cake (the Lemon Drizzle was one of the most moist I've ever eaten - gorgeous). All great. If you pass through, or visit, Rhyd Ddu and it's not Monday (they don't open on Monday) then stop if you can. We weren't disappointed and hopefully you wont be either.
