Convenient location for both Chester and Snowdonia and walking distance to the town Center. We’ve chosen the contactless stay and the staff proactively texted us for all the necessary information which was very helpful. The room was basic but just adequate for us. I particularly liked about that they don’t use plastic cups. The mineral water supplied in the room was also in a glass bottle not the plastic:)

The Memsahib and I were celebrating a recent birthday with a family gift of High tea at a favourite venue that we had patronised in the past.We had visited the "restaurant with rooms" on several previous occasions with some satisfaction.
This time we were greeted amicably as usual by the friendly staff and shown to our table.
A choice of teas or coffees was offered and I selected the Earl Grey which hit the spot.
We were asked whether or not we had any dietary preferences and replied in the negative.
So service proceeded.
Our first surprise was the lack of any finger sandwiches! The cake stand was fully loaded so investigation was called for. The variety of flavours and textures was something else and by referring to the menu we were able to establish what all the tit-bits were.Quite a change from the traditional sandwiches but still enjoyable!Fellow diners among us were more of a traditional bent and commented on this!
Our only disappointment was the traditional scones which we thought whilst being tasty enough were just a tad over-baked.
The restaurant was busy enough for the sole member of staff who coped admirably.
We were made aware during our exiting conversation of the special offers available on Tuesday evenings and it's more than possible we shall be partaking in the near future.

Regrettable that we stayed here to be truthfully honest.

No blinds on windows meant curtains had to be shut on bedroom constantly as our room was on the carpark with no privacy at all. Went to use the bathroom and had someone starring into the window while getting in there car. Unnerving and not at all comfortable.
Gate on carpark was open all night leaving us unable to open our windows due to location by the carpark it simply wasn’t safe too. At one point a group of youths were gathered at said gate
Room smelt, we found this was due to the mini fridge and when we approached the staff about this they confirmed they knew it ‘stank’ we actually had to bin a bottle of wine that we put in there. Disgusting. Food crumbs on and along the side of the soft chair in room. Cups for tea & coffee had been used and not cleaned. Coffee remains in both cups.
Hairs in beds.
Bathroom radiator leaking badly major safety hazard - notified staff about this (room 20)
Slept terribly due to heat in the room and unable to open windows as previously mentioned.
Pillows like bricks

Food in restaurant was disappointing, luke warm and nothing to comment on further.
Breakfast service… well we waited about 20 minutes before anyone approached us to take an order even though we had not been given a menu. Continental offerings were shockingly poor. No white bread and one croissant left, we arrived for breakfast at 9am it started at 8.30 so should have been plentiful.
One server who had also worked previous day in restaurant was helpful, long hair in a ponytail, she even went to the shop to purchase bread. Other young lady server was less helpful and gave the impression guests were an inconvenience and didn’t witness her doing much other than frowning and chatting. She could learn something from the other server.

Breakfast again was disappointing, poached egg was runny on too but undercooked at the bottom, bacon was practically raw, very chewy and not edible. Black pudding uncooked, maybe ask personally preference going forward. This lead to waste on both our breakfasts
Sausages were terrible quality. I suggest sourcing them from a butcher
Due to the no bread my husband ended up having toast at the end of his breakfast.

Overall we were extremely disappointed and saddened at the service, room and experience we had after reading more positive reviews before we visited.
The value for money aspect was unbelievably disappointing.
I can not rate the hotel/restaurant anymore than 1 star.

My daughters surprised me with afternoon tea or through Groupon at this restaurant. We were greeted by a very miserable receptionist, she seated us a really nice table, she offered tea and coffee, we had previously enquired about soya milk and my daughter mentioned this telephone call which she was not aware of at all. We were having the Christmas afternoon tea which was awful, there was half pieces of sausage roll as my other daughter is pregnant and one is a vegetarian they were supposed to be offered an alternative. They never received anything and had to complain to get two pieces of bread cut into a finger with minutest piece of ham on compiled with butter. The cakes were hard as they were obviously leftovers from Christmas. All in all it was disappointing. Especially as it was a gift. My daughter was asked by the manager as we were leaving what we thought and she told him the truth. He gave her a £20 voucher to return. Under the circumstances a refund to my daughter and husband and a separate refund would have been accepted as My daughter was sick on the way home, we had to stop the car. Then my other daughter who was pregnant had a poorly tummy that evening to. Very sad that a Christmas present had to turn out like this it will be the first and last time we go there

The staff are accommodating and we asked for a higher floor room which we regretted with a dog. The room in particular 10 was small and the TV was roughly 19", too small to watch anything (which is what we wanted to do, chill and watch TV) No Iron has stated (although this may be a positive for some)
Corridors are small and the location of our particularly room was opposite the housekeeping store room which meant we had to navigate over things on he corridor floor, while they where cleaning rooms, hoovers, bedding, bin bags.
Positives are the cooked breakfast is excellent and the times are good and a bit later to have a lie in. Could do with more choice with the continental section.
No charge for dogs which is a bonus, WiFi is free and so is parking.
We did book through a third party site which for some reason is cheaper, and had we paid the full cost we would have been disappointed, but for the the price we did pay it wasn't too bad.
Due to the negatives we did come home a day earlier, we did manage to see through the a downstairs window to see they ground floor rooms and these appeared nicer so that was a mistake on our part.

The lemon Tree is adorable , beautiful style, very well maintained and restored well.
The room we were in no 3 , I chose , was very tastefully decorated , high quality furnishings and bedding , excellent complimentary tray , including water , always a plus. The room was small but adequate , with the added touch of a window seat . This next comment would not stop me re booking , but due to the position of the room , uncontrollable , and the beautiful old windows that should not be changed, the road noise was very noticeable and slightly effected my sleep.
The staff were very polite and nice , and the breakfast rooms and restaurant were very nice, alongside an excellent breakfast .
My only downside was that the bar is closed if the restaurant isn’t open that evening, and for anyone who wishes to just stay in the hotel and maybe sit in a comfy settee with a drink on an evening , this is not an option . I felt this could be achieved by having a small area near the entrance where the leaflet table is a nice chair and small settee with a lamp and maybe a small help yourself bar which can be paid for !
Otherwise , definitely recommend, would stay again, if road noise bothers you , ask for a room further into the hotel . A great base for exploring Wales

Stayed 2 nights end October in room 15, so many fire doors we almost lost our way on the 1st night! Room and ensuite are small but clean and adequate; washbasin so small you have to fill the kettle using the mugs! We had very noisy people in the room next door, and the walls are thin, plus the doors bang. Main car park is a bit challenging to get into, but there are a couple of spaces elsewhere. All that said we had a good stay and the breakfast was very good. Very convenient to town and easy access to main roads.

These people just cant do enough for you they are so so friendly they are like your family.....
The chef has a talent that is rare in much posher hotels his food was creative , tasty and plenty of it what more could you ask for......
This is the best hotel that we have used this year ( we average 1/mth) and one of the very few that we will be returning too.
The hotel was very clean and tidy and I really cant think of any serious negatives ........
I would like to suggest a few small improvements that may make the room a little more accessible and tidy and that would be to have a few shelves in the bathroom and a few coat hooks on the doors.

This was my 1st visit after lockdown and The Lemon Tree delivered the same outstanding service and food from start to finish, started with cocktails, my friend had a cosmopolitan and I had porn star martini and I can honestly say it was the best one I have ever had anywhere! It was so nice I had a second and my friend also had one!
We opted for the three course Sunday lunch (a bargain at £22) we were able to enjoy our cocktails before eating and didn’t feel rushed at all, the whole meal from start to finish was tasty, hot and very fresh…could not fault any of it..The service was fantastic..James & Matt make amazing cocktails and we tried a new one “Chocolate/orange martini Oh my Lord you have to try!! We had lovely service from Matt & Adam and even staff that came out of the kitchen greeted us with a cheery hello! The whole afternoon was so relaxing and we will definitely become regulars! WELL DONE everyone at The Lemon Tree 👏🏼👏🏼

The town centre is a 2-3 minute walk. The train station is a 10 minute walk, or 2-3 minute car journey.
