Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife and I visited for Sunday lunch on Oc.31 and Although the main course was tasty,as was the dessert, we were both very disappointed with the portion sizes. We had four small potatoes between us and a small amount of veg, But what disappointed us the most was the amount of meat we had,I had the beef which consisted of a small slice of beef and a half of a slice, and my wife had similar which was supposed to be sliced chicken breast, which for some reason included a bone? And when I went to use the toilet I noticed that the so called regulars, had a lot bigger portions than we had. Therefore the the price we payed, we where very disappointed. Needless to say we will not be visiting again.

We stayed at Doug and Joy’s place for just one night. A lovely comfortable en-suite room. Clean, roomy and airy. But the real treat was the amazing food! We ate with friends at their restaurant, where Doug cooks and Joy serves. Far better than some Michelin star restaurants we have dined in! Our steak was cooked to perfection as was the accompanying vegetables and dauphinois potatoes. Mmm! One of our party asked for cheese and biscuits after our meal, not on the menu, no problem! What an amazing cheese board with port! Breakfast was equally as impressive, with fresh fruit, cereal and a full cooked breakfast on offer! We intend coming back to stay again soon!

I booked a table with the Travellers for a Saturday night for 5 people, as me and my wife had hired a canal boat that we planned to moor at the canal close by . We had arranged for my daughter and her husband to meet us there and my other daughter to do the same , this meant them travelling from London and Liverpool respectively to meet up . On turning up a few minutes early for our meal to be told that they could not serve us because we had not replied to their Email with the menu choice so they had cancelled our meal was quite a shock , and to be told they could not accommodate us at all was a real smack in the teeth , especially as I had booked this restaurant well in advance to cancel any problems with this Covid problem . Now I receive an Email stating it was all my fault for not replying to their Email with the menu on it ,I have since checked my Emails going back 6 week and my spam mails the same period and NOTHING . But very strange I received a reply when I make a complaint to you . If it was a genuine mistake we could understand, but the way you have gone on the offensive to blame me when it’s your business is quite upsetting . This is not a review to criticise your restaurant’s food quality ,it’s. Review go criticise you business acumen. Terribly run pub end off

Lovely hostess took this weary traveller under her wing and made me, and my bike, most welcome. Delightful stay in pleasant and comfortable surroundings. Very convenient for everything, especially eateries.

I hardly ever leave reviews but I had to make an exception for this restaurant. We found the restaurant on trip advisor and we were thrilled! It is such a gem of a restaurant and we had the most fantastic dinner. The whole experience was exceptional and I cannot recommend it more! Really the best evening and we will return!

We are a group of friends who came for dinner after a long day hiking the Pen y Far horseshoe and were very hungry. We weren’t disappointed. We had a delicious amuse bouche in front of the roaring log burner followed by a meal of wonderful diversity and quality. Indeed as we licked our dessert plates clean and paid the very reasonable bill only one question remained. Can we please all come back tomorrow night?

We had a very good Sunday lunch here with our daughter. As always, the food was excellent and service was up to Joy's usual relaxed but high standards. It appears to be a well kept secret in the area as it was not as busy as it should have bene, even in winter.

We stayed here on a business trip. What a lovely little find! Beautiful little place with amazing views. The lady who owns it couldn't be nicer. The food in the restaurant was incredible. After our evening meal, we couldn't wait to see what breakfast was going to be like...and it didn't disappoint! Would definately return.

We stayed here for 3 days and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The room was quite basic but very homely with a lovely view, the breakfast was very good and if you choose to eat in the restaurant the food is superb. Ther canal flows right past the back of the property and there are great walks all starting right from the garden gate. We hope that we get the chance to return here again soon.

We had Sunday lunch here for a change a few weeks back, it was as good as always and service was very helpful. The menu for Sunday lunch does not vary a great deal but it is reliable and always cooked to perfection - definitely recommend as long as you book as spaces are limited!
