This was our second visit to beautiful Brecon, and we had no hesitation in rebooking with the marvellous Borderers Guesthouse in the town centre. We stayed two nights and had an absolutely wonderful time. Gail and Kevin (and their adorable dog, Trixie) are fantastic hosts and went out of their way to ensure that we were well looked after. The room was spotless and characterful, the breakfast was delicious, the furnishings beautiful and comfortable, and we especially appreciated the local tea provided in the room. Gail and Kevin are very knowledgeable about Wales, and, thanks to them, we saw parts of the area that we had never explored before - breathtaking! All in all, an utterly memorable trip, and we cannot wait to visit again!

PS. Prior to our arrival, Gail kindly reserved a parking space for us opposite the main entrance of the B&B, as the Borderers used to be a coach house and therefore has a rather narrow entrance. Our car could have fit through the gate, but we very much appreciated having the option to park outside, so this is definitely something worth bearing in mind.

I booked the room for guests that were visiting from America and I'm leaving the review on their behalf after discussing it with them. The rooms were sparkling clean, very comfortable and beautifully decorated with very good taste. All the lovely bathroom products were very high quality, environmentally friendly and locally sourced where possible. Gail was so warmly welcoming that everyone felt at home straight away and I will definitely book rooms there again in the future. Gail's breakfasts were delicious with fresh local and homemade produce of a very high standard; she catered for all requirements, including gluten intolerance, without it seeming to be any trouble at all. Gail was so friendly and knowledgeable the local area and local services - everyone is looking forward to coming back!

Excellant room and shower , plenty of choice for eating in the town , 5 mins walk from the B&B , wonderful scenery on your doorstep whether you are walking or motorcycling or looking to get up high. The host was excellant, polite and very helpful cooking a lovely breakfast with locally sourced produce where possible. Happy to offer local knowledge on the best places to enjoy a meal out. Suggest booking in advance as eating places get booked up.

We were greeted by Gail who helped us park the car in the car park. She is very welcoming and showed to our superb room. She spent several minutes chatting about the amenities and the services available. She is extremely knowledgeable about the locality and all the activities. Even our family run boat trips in the nearby canal was mentioned. Nothing was too much trouble, including the fresh milk everyday. Gail is very attentive to detail and the room was exceptional and spotless. it had all the bits you would need for your stay.
Breakfast was fabulous and tasty. All local produce and freshly cooked. Don't get us started with the homemade grapefruit marmalade from Gail the Marmalade Queen!
We were there for 4 nights. Had a fantastic time and we are looking forward to seeing her and her staff ( Ruby & Kevin) again in August.
We would highly recommend all to stay at this establishment. You will not regret it!
Many thanks for looking after us and see you soon!! xx

Our entire complicated group had all their needs meet, my elderly mum in law was very comfortable in the accessable room. There was a dog friendly room for me and my dog (only available through direct booking) and there was even a hypoallergenic section for my friend with asthma!
Breakfast was delicious, vegan and vegetarian diets were well catered for. Thank you Gail, for your advice and for making us fell so much at home every time we visit!

Much love,
A, poopoo and the girls

The guest house has a warm and friendly atmosphere and Gail was extremely helpful. Bikers are welcome and they offer secure parking so you can feel safe leaving your pride and joy unattended. A full English breakfast was served every morning and included in the stay. Gail even made her own sausages and hash browns which was great. I’d like to also thank Maddox who served us on the last two days. For his first job he was polite and friendly and did a great job with a small group of bikers - well done!

I was in room 8. Ground floor room with king sized bed and accessible bathroom. Gail is a warm and welcoming host as is Trixie her gorgeous dog. I was visiting family close by and was made so welcome with fresh milk everyday in my room for a drink before bed. It was very cold outside but the room was cosy. The bed was huge and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and made with locally sourced ingredients. There is a canal a few minutes walk away where you can take a trip on a canal boat. Gail is so knowledgeable about the town and we met up one afternoon and walked to the Peace Garden which again is close by but I wouldn't have known about it. Then we walked along the tow path of the river - which had recently risen rapidly due to the extensive rainfall. The town centre or city has some beautiful architecture and some individual mom and pop stores. Take a visit to Brecon cathedral - lovely tea shop there. I will definitely be making a return visit to Borderers especially to see Gail.

This is the first time we went beyond the corner shop since lockdown. The other half really wanted a holiday so I obliged. Right from the first time we spoke to her, Gale put my mind at ease, explaining the layout of the rooms and all the changes they were making to keep the experience safe for us! Needless to say, everything was spik and span! I’ve never left a review before, but I simply had to this time! Thanks you both for a very peaceful couple days!!!

Myself and two friends shared a triple room in Borderers Guest House. We made quite a last-minute booking and Gail was super accommodating, friendly, and helpful throughout the whole process. She even gave us recommendations of places to visit before we’d even arrived at the guest house!

The location is perfect for anything around the Brecon area. It is less than a minute walk to Aldi and has many restaurants and pubs within a 5 minute walk.

The room we stayed in was immaculately clean and the bathroom was very clean and modern with a lovely walk-in powerful shower.

Gail cooked us breakfast both mornings which were delicious and set us up for a long day of activities.

I can’t recommend this stay highly enough. We couldn’t believe how lucky we were to find availability in a place like this last-minute when most places were fully booked. Absolute gem.

Thank you Gail!!!!!
