Stayed here for 4 nights on a work trip.
Pat and John made their home feel like your home. Very friendly and welcoming.
Lovely homecooked choice of breakfast each morning cooked just the way you like it.
The room was perfect, lovely ,warm and spacious.
Pat and John couldn't do enough for you.
They even offered to drive me into the town while my car was being unexpectedly being repaired.
I will be requesting to stay again on further worktrips.
Highly recommended. I might even bring the wife on a non work related trip !!!

My partner and I (both in our 20's) have just spent two incredibly relaxing nights at the Belvedere in Talybont on Usk over the May bank holiday weekend, it was great.

We arrived at the Belvedere following a full day of horse riding (at the nearby Cantref riding school) and Pat received us with a warm welcome and showed us to a lovely, comfortable and incredibly clean room.

We stayed in room 2 which overlooks the front garden, it was a nice size, very comfortable bed (with additional pillows and blankets provided (but as house was nice and warm were not needed on this occasion). Plenty of wardrobe space with wooden hangers provided. Tea and coffee facilities and an immaculately clean en suite bathroom.

Pat asked what time we would like our breakfast and we opted for 9am on both mornings (although as other travellers have posted Pat is happy to arrange breakfast earlier if guests wish to be out and about earlier).

A range of cereals followed by a full cooked breakfast (which included delicious bacon from a local farm). Toast and as much tea, coffee and juice as we wanted. We certainly needed a walk after the hearty breakfast!

The B&B is located in a great spot only 2 minutes walk away from The White Horse, The Star and the Usk Inn. We sampled all of the pubs on both evenings and they have great food, good real ale and friendly staff. Quick tip if you would like to eat at a particular time booking is recommended as all 3 pubs were very busy both days.

If you are looking for a quiet, traditional, rural B&B run by a family who have been providing great service for 35 years this is the place for you.

Thanks for a great stay Pat, we will recommend the Belvedere and hope to be back again to do the walk you mentioned along the ridge above the reservoir.

Firstly PLEASE IGNORE the bad review written about this B&B. My husband, mum, dad and myself stay in this B&B about 5 times a year. We have family who live in the area and stay at the Belvedere everytime we visit. I don't know where to start!! Pat and John always give an extremely warm welcome. The rooms are cleaned to a very high standard and I always end up with a very good nights sleep as the rooms are very comfortable. Pat serves a great breakfast with plenty of tea and coffee. The bread is not cheap and the jam isn't either. The bad review written I feel is very picky. The pictures on the web site are exactly how the rooms are. They are comfortable, warm and relaxing. You can unpack your bag put on your pyjamas and snuggle down for a great nights sleep. Yes there is a lorry cab parked away from the house at the front but it does not get in the way and we all have to earn a living so what's wrong with that? The way that it gets parked is amazing, John certainly knows how to reverse!!
We have stayed in other B&B's around the country and I have to say I look forward to visiting Wales because I know we are going to stay at the Belvedere. It's always a pleasure to stay here and if you are in the area or thinking of going to Talybont-on-Usk then book yourself into this B&B and you are guaranteed a great stay. Thank you very much Pat and John.

We booked a double room at the Belvedere more than 3 months before our stay. When we arrived we were put into Room 4 which is a very small room which had a double bed in the corner. It was so small you could not pick up the proverbial cat let alone swing it.. We think that as they where full they had converted the very small single room into a double. The room was airless and badly ventilated with only a very small window.
The en-suite was so small sitting on the WC you could wash your hair in the basin. The gap the WC was in was so narrow it was just wide enough fit in it which meant it could not be used in the normal manner. The floor of the en-suite was unsound as it sank when you walked on the floor covering. Parking was limited as the most of the parking bay in front of the house was filled by a massive articulated lorry cab. Breakfast was good but only cheap white bread, poor quality packet jams and no marmalade.
Do not be fooled by the fancy pictures on the website. Our friends stayed in the two twin bedded rooms and even these larger rooms where not as sumptuous as the pictures. Where do the 4 stars come from - nowhere does it say who awards them!!

We stayed at the Belvedere for three nights over the May bank holiday. We booked all three rooms with friends. The B&B was spotlessly clean and looked to be recently decorated. Pat was the perfect host on arrival, during our stay and on departure. The breakfast was of a good quality with a good choice. It fuelled us up for a full day's walking ahead. The village is lovely with a good choice of pubs. We ate in three of them and they all offered a varied menu offered good quality food. We would stay at the Belvedere again without hesitation.

The Belvedere is located in a convenient location to reach numerous great sites in the Brecon Beacons. Better than the location is the warm hospitality that Pat and her husband offer there. They make it a most enjoyable experience and do make it feel like you are in your own home. Her breakfasts are excellent as well. There are several good pubs within walking distance which makes it nice for a relaxing evening.

We stayed here for a couple of nights, in Room 2. The room was lovely, and although the en-suite was quite compact everything worked perfectly and it was equipped with lovely fresh towels. The whole place was spotless, and Pat was the perfect hostess - friendly and genuinely interested in her guests without being too forward. Breakfast was simple but good and tasty and a fine start to a day's hiking in the hills. Pat also offers packed lunches, which I did not need, and flask refills. The location is ideal with a short 5 minute stroll to the village and easy access to everything the area has to offer. Recommended.

This is an excellent b&b. Have been going here year after year since 2003 an it never disappoints! Have stayed in each of the four rooms but mainly stay in room 4 which is a lovely cosy room! Can't say that I've ever sunk into the bathroom floor and I can certainly stand between the wc and the sink, think this says more about people rather than room size! An absolutely delightful place to stay with the loveliest most amenable hosts! Recommend a stay here.

I know Talybont so it was easy to pick the Belvedere to stay. The photos on the website were very accurate and our room was delightful, airy, spacious and comfortable. Amenities included a brew kit and TV with Freesat as well as plenty of cupboard and wardrobe (with hangers!) space. Towels were provided. The double bed was very comfy and lots of cushions to rest on as well as two armchairs, one in which I fell asleep which tells you all you need to know!
The breakfasts were made to order and delicious, all cooked fresh with "proper" marmalade & jam to go on the toast not pre-packed stuff. We could have taken advantage of the packed lunch on offer but were eating out.
Pat & John were very ameniable hosts and we will definitely use the Belvedere again.

Stayed here over the early May bank holiday weekend for some outdoor pursuits. Very nice email communication with Pat before our stay, on arrival we loved the warm welcome. Room and en-suite bath were big enough for the two of us, we even had a fridge. Breakfast was pretty good, too. Happy to stay again.
