A very impressive, beautiful old building. When I arrived I was greeted warmly by Angelina and Eli. Both were very friendly and made me feel welcome. I stayed in the Myddle room which was absolutely stunning. The waiter was Eli and he was very polite and efficient. When my meal arrived I was a bit disappointed with the size of the meal for the price. However, it was delicious, cooked to perfection by Becca and because was it was so rich I found the portion size was ideal. I had a great night’s sleep and the following morning I had a lovely breakfast and was served by Luke who was also very friendly and polite. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel. The staff, the food and the room were amazing. Thank you Angelina, Eli, Becca and Luke. Xxx

I am half way through a 5 night stay and am really impressed with this hotel.. and I’m not easily pleased! It’s not perfect, I had an issue with water pressure and the plug in the bath not holding water but they tried to to resolve it and as soon as one was available i was moved rooms, but I feel like every one is working really hard to ensure you have a good stay. The food is worth a visit even if you are not staying. Both the evening meal and Sunday lunch I have had were exceptional factor in very reasonable prices for both and I definitely recommend a visit. I have eschewed the restaurant as I am travelling alone for business and eaten in the very cosy bar instead. It’s a lovely old building … just watch your head through some of the doorways and feels very appealing and comfortable. Ignore the coat of paint required in some of the corridors, it’s a super hotel for a 3 star book a table and stay over, I would definitely return.

Wonderful little find, perfect for an overnight stay after a function in Porthcawl which is only a 10 minute taxi ride. Staff were extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Clean comfortable room and a tasty well cooked breakfast. Excellent value for money.

The restaurant: - restaurant was clean and spacious and we had a warm welcome - free parking although entry was a little hard to find The food: - scallop starter was really tasty. The jalepeno aspect of it was an absolute winner - pate was tasty and the bread was a stand out - fillet of beef perfectly cooked for main course with a flavourful black garlic ketchup - perfectly cooked chips were a highlight - harissa carrots were amazing - pork belly - wow - crispy crackling and melt in the mouth mesr - bergamot dessert, beautifully presented and the tangy jelly and rich chocolate were lush - pannacotta, if being picky could have been set a little less and had more coulis as white choc was very sweet but overall was very tasty. Overall - well worth a visit and we will be returning. Everything was fresh and tasty. Also: There was an elderly couple in, who wanted fish and chips, but the only fish on the menu came unbattered and with a bean stew. The chef made a fresh batter especially for them and have them fish and chips which we thought was excellent service.

We stayed here with friends & had a great time. The staff at this hotel are fantastic. We had been out for drinks and arrived back at the hotel late. Brian was very accommodating and made us feel so welcome. We would definitely stay here again!! Our room was a bit wacky but it added to the experience. The only feedback about the room is that it would have been good to have normal lights as an option as it was quite dark.

Only stayed for one night with my wife when visiting relatives locally, but enjoyed the comfort and style of the room. Bed was comfortable and bathroom spacious The attached restaurant (Leicester’s) was excellent but I have reviewed that separately. Cooked breakfast menu offered some delicious options. We opted for Eggs Royale and Eggs Benedict One final bonus in the room was that the tv setup included access to Netflix and Amazon Prime tv. Handy if you have those at home and were following a series which you otherwise wouldn’t be able to do on the road.

We stayed at this hotel last night and ate at the restaurant of this hotel the staff were so lovely freindly and helpful the meal was incredible my only little disappointment was my husband wanted cheese and biscuits but we were told they had no cheese that's ridiculous for a Welsh restaurant but I would definitely go back and do recommend you try it .

We got married at the Great House Hotel in Sept 2023. Elinor helped us plan our day. Her advice, guidance and experience was invaluable. The day was just perfect, staff were excellent, professional and just couldn’t do enough for us and our guests. For those who stayed, the rooms were also excellent. Everyone commented on the excellent standard of the wedding breakfast and buffet. We were recommended the Great House by friends who had also had an excellent experience, we were so fortunate they did. The hotel, the team led by Elinor was just outstanding. Thank you so much 🙏🥰

We decided on having our wedding at the Great House Hotel as we wanted an intimate celebration with our immediate family and friends. From the first meeting to the very end it didn't disappoint. Elinor and her team accommodated every request we asked and some at very short notice. She coordinated everything before the day and was a brilliant MC for the day. Everything went like clockwork. The wedding breakfast was absolutely fantastic with everyone commenting on how wonderful the food was. It was definitely worthy of Michelin stars in our eyes. The rooms were decorated perfectly and our flowers from Florrie & Jo and our cake from Centre Stage Cakes were wonderful. Entertainment provided by Lee Jukes from Bridge FM made the evening amazing too. We are so happy that we chose the Great House as our wedding venue as we could not have picked a better place. Thanks so much. Love David and Claire Davies.
