Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ty Mynedd was a perfect find. An idea location, very comfortable room, a hearty, home cooked breakfast and very welcoming and attentive hosts. Would recommend highly for anyone needing to stay on the outskirts of Cardiff with easy access to the city centre, local attractions and motorway.

The nicest hotel/lodge that I have ever stayed in. The hospitality was superb, and the accommodation was really well presented. Everything had a very personal touch, and was clearly thought out to make you feel welcome.
The written breakfast menu seemed a little sparse, but I was then offered a full breakfast (without asking) which was worth the trip for this alone! My family members were all catered for individually, and we were also given a pot of their home made jam to take home.
A wonderful experience, thank you.

This little Lodge is beyond 5 stars, the location isn't city centre but is extremely convenient for all the amenities such as the bay, The parking is good, off road and as safe as can be expected. The room we stayed in was small but nicely furnished with a very large bathroom. All of this lodge was comfortable with a separate lounge with a log burner, this is a shared facility.
Breakfast is unusual in that the menu isn't set. However, there is a hot option which is tailored to your requirements which only appears to take a few minutes, during which time a hot drink is provided and there's cereal. This process delivers your breakfast hot and freshly cooked and minimises waste, personally I think this is the business model to follow for smaller establishments.
Finally, the owner, Lisa, was very helpful and a mine of information, directions etc. not to be underestimated.
If we go to Cardiff again I know where we'll be staying.

A lovely convenient place to stay, not far from the centre of Cardiff. Lovely hostess Lisa couldn't have been more helpful in directing us to nearby places for an evening meal. The room was spacious and the bathroom was spotless. There was a vase with some fresh flowers on the bedroom window which was a nice touch. Also a nice touch was the bottles of water provided as it was a hot week. The Welsh cakes on arrival were a nice touch. The breakfast was great, lovely fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal, toast, home-made jam and a full English. We stayed two nights and both days I had lovely poached eggs on toast. I would definitely recommend a visit to this B&B.

Wonderful hosts and beautiful accommodation. Lisa and Llion (and their two boys) couldn't have been more welcoming. The Welsh lessons were a bonus! While Ty Mynydd is a short distance removed from Cardiff the train service is so good and cheap from Radyr that it really made no difference and saved on driving and car parking. We can also highly recommend the nearby Italian restaurant Cicchetti, for a fantastic meal.

We have just returned from a second stay at Ty Mynydd Lodge B&B. It's one of those places that really feels like a home from home the moment you check in.

Lisa, the host, provides a wonderful warm welcome and can give all sorts of handy information on places to eat and things to do. Would recommend a meal at the local Italian restaurant, Cicchetti, and a visit to St Fagans. The lodge is very well situated just to the north of Cardiff, with a train station less than 10 minutes walk away. Direct trains to Cardiff Central are very frequent and take only a quarter of an hour. Much easier than driving in.

The room was spotless, the bed was very comfortable and the breakfast choice is amazing. Definitely the best poached eggs I have ever tasted!

Thank you for looking after us so well, Lisa - we will certainly be back!

What an amazing place we stayed at Lisa greeted us on arrival and explained about the area bus stop, Train station, where to go for food. On entering the breakfast area there was so much to choose from and the cooked breakfast on offer was amazing.
Thank you so much Lisa for inviting us in to your home and making us feel so welcome. Would highly recommend.

Our stay was absolutely amazing. Our host, Lisa was so welcoming and helpful, the food was delicious, the rooms were beautifully decorated and the small details everywhere were so charming. We have asked if we could spend the evening at the lounge area and if we could light the fireplace up and she loved the idea. She even made sure that the fireplace would be set up - ready to be lighted up once we got back after the day. The minute we stepped in we saw the fireplace literally lighted up seconds ago. So so touching of her and her husband. They could not have done anything more to make us feel more at home. We loved our last night in Wales - so nice and cozy. I would highly recommend it and would definitely come back once in the area.

Wow! What a place. If you are looking for a cozy historical place to stay, with a friendly host and a relaxing atmosphere, then Ty Mynydd Lodge is the place.
Our room with en-suite was quiet, spacious, clean, and well-maintained,
Breakfast had a range of choices to suit an individual's needs.
The Lodge is steeped in the history of Ronald Dahl, with books in the lounge should you want to read about him. There is ample parking and it's close to town with bus stops nearby.
The host is friendly and warm, nothing is too much trouble.
Would stay there again and would recommend it to fellow travellers.
