In a nut shell, the hotel gets the basics right. The rooms are always clean and comfortable, the staff at reception always greet with a smile and make their guest feel welcome. Tara deserves a special mention in particular, polite and friendly and nothing is too much trouble for her!
We had such excellent service and care during our 5 day stay. It’s a nice little hotel in a quieter part of Cardiff (about 20 mins away from the centre of the city). It was dog and family friendly as it is so quiet in Whitchurch.
Upon arrival our rooms were ready and they changed the twin room so my family could be near my accessible room which was very kind and helpful (they are my carers).
Quick tip: firstly, the “accessible room” has a higher toilet and grab rails but it’s with a bath. We rang ahead to check so I could bring my bath board which worked well but if you want a shower, the “accessible rooms” are all with baths.
Also, if you are part of a group or need care, each key fob is different if you are on different floors, so we changed the twin room to my floor so that we would all have the same access to the level I was on. It’s worth checking ahead!
The rooms are basic but very cosy, warm, quiet and spotlessly clean. The twin beds and chair were comfy and the towels big and fluffy.
The Toby Carvery attached to the hotel does a great breakfast and dinner - and they call ”time” at 11pm so it’s very quiet and we had a good sleep every night.
It was also close enough to explore Cardiff by day and we enjoyed every minute.
Massive thanks especially to Tara for being so kind, funny, chatty and helpful. All the staff are lovely but she went above and beyond for us (especially given my disability).
Highly recommended. Thank you.
A++++

This is a Travelodge so no surprises, but as with most hotels in this brand in the UK, it offers an inexpensive comfortable room with a clean shower room, with plenty of hot water and soft towels.
There was some noise from the bins outside being filled from the adjoining restaurant as breakfast service began, but most of the night was quiet.
It is a simple couple of miles drive from the M4 on the road which will take you into central Cardiff. There are several restaurants in Whitchurch which is a short walk away.
Good price for a comfortable stop over in a convenient location.
The superior rooms were very clean and had all the basics a long with a coffee machine. The housekeeper Johanna did a great job, we could not fault her attention to detail.
Thank you for a great stay, shame about the rugby result!
The staff member was very apologetic and did what he could to help us, escorting my partner back to our room, but I am deeply concerned that something as basic as a first aid kit was either missing or not easily accessible. First aid resources are essential in public facilities, especially in hotels, where guests often don’t have access to their own medical supplies. A first aid kit could have helped prevent a painful situation from becoming even worse and would have made us feel safer overall.
We appreciate the kindness of the staff on duty, but Travelodge needs to ensure that safety essentials like first aid kits are available and easy to access in all locations. A small but necessary improvement that could make a big difference.
We Paid for Kingsize beds but received 2 single beds disguised as Kingsize resulting in a very uncomfortable nights sleep,
Both my wife and myself woke up with backache.
When we asked to change rooms we were told they only had single beds.
Although the staff were nice I will not be returning to this hotel
