When we arrived at The Waterloo, we didn't quite know what we had let ourselves in for. The area around it is very run down. However once inside, we were pleasantly surprised! Clean, warm and friendly and very spacious. The room was large with an extremely comfortable bed and a lovely bathroom. Fabulous home cooked breakfast in the morning too....

Stayed again this week and once again the warmest of Welsh welcome was given. Again, wonderful food and restaurant area one of the best in the world Go on, give it a go- yes it's on the main road and opposite the docks, and I feel this adds to its charm. Amazing value for money to boot. I'll definitely be...

Arrived at the hotel, it was easy to find, and thought I was at the wrong place from looking at the outside. Anyway, ventured inside and was surprised how different it was. Checking in was easy, everything was explained. Hotel room was nice and clean, the bed was super comfy! Breakfast was included in the price, and there was plenty...

This is a building with a rich history. At one time the ornate bar was the longest in the world and the cellars are spectacular. This Hotel used to serve the docks and the steel works and as a result was home to many stories relating to the comings and goings of downtown Newport. If you are into interesting buildings...

I chose this Hotel based on the reviews on TA. My wife and I were staying there after attending a family funeral and seemed impressed by the reviews bearing in mind there were a couple of reviews that mentioned the location adjacent to the main road. Due to the fact my father in law had had a nasty fall the...

Once again a one night stop over. The hotel overlooks Newport docks. Don't go for room 6. The main road is right outside and the traffic never stops. Our room was a bit old fashioned and in need of some tlc. On the upside. Very comfy bed. If you stay here you must eat in the bistro. Best rice pud...

Ian and I held our wedding reception at the Waterloo hotel and we couldn't have asked for more. From the time we booked it to the time we left the next day they were all outstanding. Bob, Terri and the girls were lovely, organised and professional. We could all chat as if we had known them for years and they...

Turned into Alexandra Road and first impression of location and outside appearance of this hotel really made us wonder what had we come to. WOW how first impressions can be so wrong. You could probably aliken this place to entering the Tardis! On entering the car park at the rear, we started to feel less concerned, since the aspect was...
