Nice singlesingle room on suit and excellent value for £55 and only £5 for excellent breakfast. When on Rugby weekend hotels wanted £200-£300. Plus the help me with a cheap and quick to arrive taxi service to station.

We stayed at the knoll when we travelled to Newport to see placebo play at the Newport centre. The host Barry is a lovely chap and very bright and chirpy and welcoming. The room was nice and clean with ensuite shower etc. The only gripe I have is we paid an extra five pounds a head for breakfast which was...

Very good roomrate en excellent breakfast. Host is very helpful. We dit have a good bed and a nice sleep. Very good place to go to Cardiff and a lot cheaper. Our room had a seperate bathroom, very clean, maybe a little bit old. Shower is electric and was warm.

I stayed at Barry's guesthouse for four weeks recently and found it charming, warm, amenable and everything you would expect for a very competitively priced place. Due to health issues I don't partake of breakfasts if I'm working but from what I saw they look perfect. My room was well stocked daily with beverages, clean and a lovely size. There...

It's reasonably priced and the owners a nice guy but it needs a damn gold clean and an update .It's noisy as hell in some rooms next to the main road .More suitable for a single person looking for cheap place to stay .I'm nearly single again after booking this place .Oh dear

Barry was polite, the building was beautiful and the breakfast was good, but: The room was in desperate need of a deep clean, the dust was incredible. We paid extra for a double that was a twin with the beds pushed together. The noise from the traffic and the wafer-thin curtains made getting a decent sleep difficult. There were 4...

Would recommend this traditional and old-fashioned (in a good way) guesthouse. Be prepared that you do have to order breakfast in advance, and arrange a late check in (>8pm) beforehand, but this is more than compensated for by the very characterful Victorian-type building and decor, particularly in the reception and spacious communal lounge area. The man and lady who run...

I was greeted with "welcome to my Victorian home", and Barry the proprietor is striving to enhance that side of his guesthouse. He has a way to go as the previous owner obviously didn't have the same desire, small details like having Georgian handles when Victorian are the same price are those little things that Barry will iron out given...

Character house in excellent location for town and railway station. Great room, food and host. Plenty of on street parking spaces. It's like staying at a small friendly hotel. We had a great stay. Cheers Barry
