Very happy with this hostel. My room was a 4 bed dorm and there were curtains that could separate each section for individual privacy. The breakfast was AMAZING... full English breakfast included, made to order. The staff were really nice and friendly. 24 hour reception. Located in the university district near good food options and tourist sites. Chill vibes with...

I found Lagan Backpackers to be on the lower end of hostels I've stayed at. The whole place is in need of some serious cleaning and maintenance; there was a weird gasoline/chemical smell basically everywhere, bathrooms were small and had non-functioning sinks, bedrooms were dingy, and everything sort of felt like it was falling apart. No doors to the sink...

(The parking is street parking so you should bear that in mind if you have a car.) This place does not have the views of a 5-star castle retreat, nor does it have the cleanliness of a hospital medicine cabinet. But for what you'll pay, it really is the best fun you can get in the area. The place really...

This was a very quaint hostel that felt very homey and welcoming. After checking in I was already feeling like I fit in with the staff because they were travellers themselves. They also are very informative when it comes to nightly events going on and you're able to join them as well. The breakfast is hands down the best free...

I had an AWESOME time at Lagan Backpackers! It was everything you want from a hostel - good quality craic! The staff were all super friendly and were great at getting all the travellers to make friends. I loved the meals they prepared where all staff and backpackers ate together. I also liked how there were curtains around some of...

Stayed here with friends for a reunion. Travelled from all over the UK to meet up and were pleasantly surprised by this cheap find. Clean room, friendly staff and a nice breakfast, would def recommend.

This place is gross, disgusting, filthy. Don't waste your time and money here. I was actually afraid to eat the food they prepare in the morning. They haven't put any money into this place since it opened. 60% of the lockers are broken and everything is just grotesque. They can't even be bothered to fold the blankets for the clean...

I realise now that it's silly to hope for a cheap, private room in a hostel: you'll find a cheaper, much better quality stay in a B&B/guest house. Whereas they have some private rooms but they are basic, not very clean, and you may want to avoid the shared toilet/shower facilities. Sorry, folks, this one is not for me.

This hostel is idea for students. The staff are students that live in so there is a homely & collective feel, like a student flat. There is lots of info about Belfast in the hostel which is very useful. You can book both the amazing black taxi & Antrim coast/giants causeway tours from the hostel staff (at a good price)...

Lagan's was an affordable and fun place to stay. The staff was awesome. The hostel provided a cooked breakfast for free as well as a dinner you could purchase for 3 pounds. We loved our stay here the first time around, we booked beds here our second trip into Belfast as well.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Included is a FREE English Breakfast that includes Bacon, Sausage, egg, beans and toast. Or Porridge or scrambled eggs and bacon. Please note breakfast is strictly between 8 and 10 with no exceptions. All breakfast served only with coffee or tea. Lagan Backpackers is simply a large Belfast house that has been converted into a Backpackers Hostel; and it is owned and run by a South African guy who knows what backpackers want. Our high ratings are mostly due to the great attention and recommendations that you can expect from both myself and my staff. My idea for a great hostel is very simple: to make you feel at home. To give you a comfortable bed to sleep in, to keep the noise down after eleven to ensure a peaceful sleep and to make you feel so at home that you make new friends and enjoy Belfast as much as possible. We provide advice on all tours of Northern Ireland, and will only recommend tours that we have personally experienced. We advise that our customers do not pre-book tours before visiting as we find that some tour operators overcharge and do not provide the level of customer satisfaction that we expect for our guests. In addition to this, Lagan Backpackers hostel is very friendly to single travellers, as we go the extra mile to make sure you enjoy your stay. We are located minutes from the City Centre, the Lagan River and the picturesque Queens University campus; and mere moments away from the lively Botanic Avenue where there are many restaurants, shops, pubs and clubs for our customers to enjoy. Additionally, the Botanical Gardens that boast beautiful greenhouses and the famed Tropical Ravine is a short walk away, adjacent to the Ulster Museum. ** No groups, stag parties, hen parties or drunken weekends like Paddys day!! Please remember only for the 11,12,13,14 July I do not accept booking from people from the UK (England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales..Also no American or Canadian band members). This is only for the marching season. No refunds on deposits will be given and you will be turned away on arrival. No stag or hen parties or groups without prior permission. ... more   less
