Just enjoyed 2 nights in Belfast in a fantastic wee botique hotel with a comfy Signature Room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Big thank you to the gentleman doing the table service at breakfast for the last 2 days. Professional, polite and fully embraced in Covid19 hygiene rules. Excellent display of high levels of hygiene equipment throughout our stay ranging from hand sanitisers along corridors and a care pack in the room with face masks etc. Great bed in the spacious room that also had, safe, fridge with wee bottle of fresh milk and tea coffee facilities as well as hair dryer and straighteners. An iron & wee ironing board completed the useful accessories. A small secure car park was easily accessible and the hotels location is a couple of minutes walk to a busy thoroughfare of diverse restaurants as well as good public transport. A great find and we will be back for sure.

After visiting an old and derelict family home in the Sperrin Mountains, we headed to Belfast for a night. I had originally planned to stay in a particular chain hotel overlooking the Lagan/Titanic Museum. We duly arrived at said hotel, without a reservation, about 6pm. The receptionist was a tad curt and not overly friendly. We enquired about restaurants for dinner but were told we wouldn't get a booking anywhere due to it being a Saturday and with Covid restrictions. We were also told that we would have to have breakfast at 8.30 as that was the only time slot they had left. Not impressed, I then remembered staying in Tara Lodge about 15-20 years ago. We drove the short distance there and were greeted by a very friendly and helpful young lady at reception. We asked about somewhere to have dinner, conveying what the other receptionist had told us, and she just said that was not the case. Instead, she gave a list of recommendations and we chose the Nepalese at the end of the road. The receptionist booked us a table for 8pm. We were told breakfast was served until 10.30 and that we could just come down at whatever time suited. We were given Room 3 on the first floor which was overlooking the street at the front. The room was a decent size, had a large comfy bed, and a spotless bathroom with lovely toiletries. I have to mention again the Nepalese restaurant. What a gem. Thoroughly recommend it if you like Nepalese/Indian food. The meal was delicious and the service fantastic. The owner is quite a character and even gave us a 15% discount as we were staying at Tara Lodge. Slept very well after that - no noise whatsoever from the street in front. Went down to breakfast just before 10am and only had to wait a few minutes before being seated. We were given a full menu and chose pastries, porridge, and a cooked breakfast. Coffee/juice refills were frequent, and we were served by a very pleasant gentleman. After breakfast we had a walk around the Botanic Gardens/Queens University which is very close by. All in all, a very enjoyable stay at Tara Lodge. Great location, well-appointed rooms, scrummy breakfast, and great staff. Hopefully, it won’t be another 15 years before I am back.

Having stayed here before, there is always a danger that any subsequent visit might not live up to the same expectations. No worries on that score this time around! The hotel management and staff had gone to some lengths to ensure the guests' wellbeing and comfort were paramount at this time. A welcome safety pack was placed in the room and no servicing carried out, unless requested and additional amenities were provided on request. Every member of staff was exceedingly helpful and pleasant, but one member of the team in particular is worth a mention - that is Ricky, whose memory for people and their dining preferences was in itself noteworthy! The location of this guest house, is not the most salubrious, being in the university area, there are lots of student lets/a fair amount of rubbish about and quite a number of buildings either boarded up or in need of TLC. However, it felt safe and a busy thoroughfare at the bottom of Tara's road ensured a constant stream of people. At the bottom of Cromwell road sits a wee gem of a place and so handy for Botanic rail station or a 20 minute walk into the centre of Belfast. Staying at the top of your game in hospitality is no mean feat, but team Tara work hard at this, and deserve their high rating. Highly recommend and will certainly return, Covid permitting!!

The hotel was perfect in so many ways. The staff were very attentive, Johnathon on the reception desk in particular was a shining star. The quality of our sleep however was significantly impaired. There were very rowdy drunk crowds until the early hours of the morning. I was assured that this was not the norm and could be due to a bar reopening and offering deals. I'd recommend you check before you go though if you want to sleep!

I gifted a 2-night stay to my daughter and partner, and had a few communications with Tara Lodge before their stay. As it was his birthday, I asked could they make a 'wee fuss'. They did, and phoned to make sure the surprise would be in situ on their arrival. They had a great stay, and have recommended that I stay on my next Belfast trip!! Thank you Tara Lodge for making my gift special.
