My partner booked a jacuzzi room as a surprise getaway and we were staying a couple of nights. We were put in a room that had a really loud constant noise, we were told this was coming from pumps but it was still going after 8.30pm and they couldn’t guarantee us when this noise would stop. I knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep with this loud noise so we asked to be moved. The lady at reception was very accommodating and moved us to another part of the hotel where it was quieter. However this room was very stuffy when we got in and felt like the windows weren’t opened in months, maybe they weren’t expecting to be using this bedroom. When we opened the other room there was a sticker to say it was sanitised and smelled fresh with the windows open, this room had no sticker. This room also didn’t have a jacuzzi bath which really disappointed my partner as that was the reason he upgraded the room in the first place and paid an extra £50. The meal we had the first night was lovely, plenty of food and well priced, the meal we had the second night was more expensive and the portion sizes were smaller, I actually left still feeling hungry. The staff all over the hotel were so lovely and very helpful. Due to Covid, breakfast is order only and we waited nearly 30 mins from entering the breakfast area until our cooked breakfasts arrived at our table, we were the only ones there. The area where the hotel is situated is lovely and quiet.

Much larger than i expected and a bit of the beaten track, maybe that why its a "Country Club" but overall an enjoyable little stay.
Rooms are good size with a really comfortable bed and the heating has the room cosy in no time.Complimentary tea, coffee and bottled water is provided and the usual toiletries in a modern bathroom.
The multi channel flat screen t.v. should keep the kids happy as will the swimming pool downstairs through the Spa.
Very enjoyable breakfast with plenty to choose from but don,t leave it too late as dishes are not replenished if your a late comer.Heard a few complaints as we checked out but none from us except maybe one.....overpriced drinks.

Upon arrival I was slightly concerned as the check in queue was extremely long and people were becoming very disgruntled but we were dealt with in a timely and professional manner. We had reserved a suite room no. 321 and it did not disappoint. Lots of room for kids to stretch and the facilities were excellent! My only issue is we could have done with some assistance with our luggage as the suites are quite a distance and with an unruly and excitable toddler it was a task but in the hotels defence we didn’t ask for assistance as we weren’t just aware as to how far the room was but I’ve no doubt had I asked for help it wouldn’t have been a problem. We ate in the Bistro and food was excellent and good value for money. Pool and spa facilities were excellent and kids enjoyed the swim, quite chilly but just jump in and it’s fine once your heart regains it’s beat. I had noticed a sale on rooms and had made a mental note to ask upon check out about booking to bring my entire family back as the room we required was not showing up online and to my disappointment we checked out on 3rd and missed the online sale as it ended on the 2nd, unfortunate for us as a family of 6 but we will return regardless in the future ☺️

Checked in and the receptionist was very polite, friendly and helpful. She told us we had to book a time slot for the pool which she’s promptly booked for us. We were then told on arrival at the pool we had to buy swimming caps at an additional cost! However the pool was good with the use of the jacuzzi, stream room and sauna. Our rooms were a little dated (1st floor) compared to a couple which we were away with which stayed in a ground room floor, however there was a large patch of damp/ mould in their room and the tv in ours not working. Only good thing about the rooms was the cleanliness, the cleaners had done a great job.

We then had booked a meal in the restaurant which I couldn’t fault enough!! The menu was a poor selection, and the service was terrible (unsure if it was because there was a wedding next door??) however that shouldn’t take away the quality of service to paying guests should get!! The food was terrible and over priced, after a few issues the manger then tried to twist we didn’t order certain things?? No member of staff came to the table after we got the food to check we had everything, if there was any problems or if we needed drinks! We got a few sides knocked of the bill which I thought wasn’t enough. However the one girl that had serviced us was more than sorry and helpful to get our meal sorted. We had enough and went to our rooms. The next morning we had booked breakfast.

The breakfast was good there was plenty to choose from and the dishes were full, the water/ juice etc was always filled up. This was probably the best part of the stay although it still wasn’t great

Overall I will most definitely not be returning to this hotel.

I arrived at 4:30pm and went to work on my laptop in the bar area. I was looked after perfectly by staff and my food and drinks were staggered as requested during my 3 hours working.
Next morning breakfast was nothing short of perfect. Bacon was perfectly cooked as was the sausage, poached egg, tomato & mushrooms. Nothing soggy, undercooked or overcooked, every item was exactly perfectly cooked.
Staff are so polite, helpful and well presented.
This place is worth every penny.

I would have given this an average review if not for the managments response to my grievences via email.

During my stay at La Mon we had consistant issues with hot water in our room, specifically in the mornings when we most wanted to use it.

Before writing this review I contacted the hotel directly to explain my grievences and their response was frankly insulting.

A person named Gillian emailed a half hearted appology and sugested that the reason my hot water was not working was due to a small button on the shower controls which "prevents little ones from turning on the shower and burning themselves". In other words, Gillian was sugesting that I was foiled by a child lock despite the fact that there was no hot water coming from the basin tap either and despite the fact that the shower seemed to get easily hot enough to burn a child in the evening.

Other issues we encountered were a filthy kettle in our room that to my absolute disgust I only noticed on the last day after having used it multiple times to make tea.The inside of the kettle was lined with brown scum that when wiped with a finger left a vissible trail on the inside.

On return to our room after a day trip on our second day I found that the room had not been serviced at all, no beds made, no towels replaced no soaps or amenities replenished. I called reception to inform them and they said they would have someone service it right away so I went down to the bar for a (full price) drink.

On return to the room I found that the bin had not been emptied and the bed had been poorly made.

During breakfast, my fiance asked for a capucino from the machine in the breakfast room but the 1 person serving told her that it wasnt available to us and instead directed us to an earn of coffe that had been pre made and tasted suspiciously like instant coffee.

On our last night the room was freezing cold which leads me to believe that the reason we had no hot water in the mornings was due to managment turning off or turning down the hot water and central heating to cut costs.

The very least i would expect from even a 2 star hotel is hot water and clean towels, ive litterally stayed in hostels in downtown Bangkok for $3 a night that provided that. so to get this level of service from a four star hotel is frankly astounding.

Gillian offered me upgrades on my next visit which is entirley redundant because I will never be returning. I strongly suggest you avoid it too.

In summary, an utterlly dissapointing experience and a complete lack of ownership of failures by hotel managment, youd be better off in a teravel lodge as at least there you would get a hot shower.

We were excited to stay again for 3rd year running, for the Santa experience, last year we gave it a by ball as it wasn’t as good as the previous year 2019,it was not as nicely decorated or organised. we had to meet elves instead of them coming to our room and gathering up children which built excitement for them. Instead we met at balcony, still got to see snowman video whilst we waited and decorations were in working order!
This year we were rang a few weeks before hand and told check in was at late at 4 o’clock which meant we had to fight the Friday rush hour traffic! We had no time to unwind or use spa facilities as we were booked for 5 o’clock santa, told we’d be met by elves in reception but if it wasn’t for other parents going upstairs we would have missed it!!!
Then no singing for children walked along sparsely decorated hall to a pitiful arts n crafts which we had to sit at for nearly 45 min whilst waiting our turn!! With our 3 year old. Ni snowman video or any Christmas feeling to it, decorations like the Reindeers weren’t working just shoddy compared to previous years, santa hadn’t even a hat on! Same toys as previous years, a teddy or a polar bear, for all.
Disappointed and let down would describe that, until we had our meal which we were told would be at 6! So with 5 min to spare, we went down to be greeted took to our table n told there was a childrens buffet, we’ll that took the biscuit! Hardly any chips, over cooked pasta tough pizza sausages chicken gougons which were cold, disgusting!
Adults were allowed a meal from the over priced menu, £8 for a prawn cocktail with a small piece of wheaten which had been microwaved to make you feel it was fresh! £18 turkey and ham, no mention of any condiments, had to disturb waiting staff, who clearly couldn’t be bothered!
We were told children could have jelly n ice cream, no sign of jelly the cheapest yellow ice cream with sprinkles on it! Even my daughter didn’t like it! And what 3 year old doesn’t like ice cream!!
Charge £8 for childrens buffet. No other option.
Previous years there was a menu for kids, they were given crayons and a page to colour, and a choice of flavour of ice cream.
Summer weight duvets, no extra blankets or pillows!
This was not 4* this was dreadful!
We already decided with the Santa insult we wouldn’t be back, which is a pity as we wanted it as a tradition for our we family, but after coming home disgusted enough to write this then no thank you!
Leaving lamon I noticed that on the cleaners trolley there were candy janes and sweet ginger bread man lolly for the rooms they were servicing for later, we were not left anything on the Friday which has angered me further!!
Oh yes no time to even use the spa!

Stayed here on Friday evening for one night. Overall a very disappointing experience. The TV in room had only five channels the batteries in the TV remote didn’t work ,we called reception reception to ask for some ice to be brought to the room and were told it would cost £5 ! We went to the so called Spa which cannot be described as a spa. It’s a Swimming pool And a jacuzzi which had broken chipped damp stained tiles and part of the bottom of the jacuzzi had broken off which I scraped my foot on.The sauna and steam room were closed The following Morning we went to the ‘Spa’ again to be told the jacuzzi was closed as it was broken. We booked this particular hotel for the spa facilities so this as you can imagine was a great disappointment
The dinner experience again was disappointing. There was no background music and the lighting was very bright. My starters arrived ten minutes before my friends which then arrived cold and dry. The main was tasteless and we had to ask the couple on the table beside us to use their condiments as we had none and there were no available staff to ask. My baileys coffee was served in a glass with a chunk of glass out of the rim which I had to send back. The breakfast was very nice although the seating in the breakfast room was worn and ripped. Overall very disappointing

Stayed 2 nights with my wife in room 94. Chose LaMon as it was close to Belfast and had a spa.

In general I was disappointed with the hotel. The staff were nice appart from one and the hotel was very clean. Bed was comfortable and had nice sheets. Croissants were very nice. Potato and soda bread was nice. Spa was nice clean and comfortable. Changing rooms were good.

The issues I had were as follows:
The carpark was a patchwork of tarmac, concrete and gravel. The were a lot of tall weeds growing in the gravel which you have to cross to exit the carpark.
The room was clean but well worn. The carpet at the door and in the middle of the room had lifted from the hard flooring outside the bathroom.
The wood panels and doors were showing a lot of wear.
The bathroom grouting was stained around the toliet and shower and possibly some black mould around shower.
The carpet in the hall between our room and lift was stained in numerous places and lifted in a few places.
We were told that 8am was the only availability for breakfast but when we passed at 9am both mornings the dining room was empty. Felt like they just wanted everyone in and out quickly. Too early for a romantic night away.
The breakfast was poor. Bacon was a grey colour. Scrambled eggs were uneatable. I think they were powdered eggs. Toast sat out for a very long time before being served and was cold. The service on the first morning was terrible. Waiter looked like he had been dragged out of bed and didn't care.
There were a lot large and tall weeds right outside the windows from the dining room.
The spa was nice but the windows were dirty and the weeds right outside the window were almost 3ft high.
The room was also way too warm. I struggled to sleep both nights even with the windows open and there no temperature controls in the room.
The cleaners left a bottle of cleaning fluid in our room which was ok for us but could be an issue if there was kids in the room.

There were other small issues but a few small changes would make a big change.

We took advantage of the recent offers for discounted rates to stay in La Mon Hotel. Second time staying and it’s always a pleasure. Staff from reception right through to cleaning and restaurant are all a delight to deal with, always smiling, always helpful. I took full use of the gym which has excellent equipment, my fiancée used the spa and was definitely impressed again. We will be back again in June for our wedding reception and look forward to another great stay. Definitely highly recommend staying at this pleasant and peaceful place.
