From check in to going up to the room, pleasant friendly staff Maria in reception very helpful and polite. Couldn't of asked for a nicer room, the breakfast set up was lovely and we enjoyed the food for dinner and warm feeling in the bar.
Where the hotel is located is just ideal, the fact its outside Belfast City you can enjoy a lovely walk outside by the river, well worth a visit

Loved our stay at the Crowne Plaza!
Although it's outside of the city centre, a taxi is a very reasonable 8 pounds and only a short journey away. The hotel is very modern with lovely spacious bedrooms. The beds were super comfortable - making it very hard to get out of bed in the mornings which is only a good complaint! The food was lovely and plentiful. There was ample selection at breakfast and the evening roast was superb. The staff were also very friendly - in particular the two ladies in the leisure centre (unfortunately, I didn't catch their names but they were working on the afternoon of the 28th of August) and also the hot food breakfast waiter on the mornings of the 27th and 28th who deserves a special mention. These staff are a credit to the hotel.
We were a little cautious going away with covid but this hotel did not disappoint. There are sanitiser stations all around the hotel. I was very impressed by the bar who have paper coverings over the tops of the straws which I think is a really great touch!
The only negative comment with this hotel is that the reception never seem to answer the phone. On the day of arrival we rang a handful of times to request a early checkin with no answer and likewise when calling from the hotel room. Not a major fault but most certainly something which can be improved on.
Would highly recommend a stay in this beatiful hotel.

Great hotel at a reasonable price. Stayed in 2 x joining rooms for family. One double room and a double room with a double sofa bed i.e 5 adults and 1 infant. Great value for money. Beds and bedding, excellent quality. Bathroom very modern and up to date with rainforest shower and toiletries. Fridge in the room, great for few beers and keeping milk etc. Iron and board in room and hair dryer. Hotel swimming pool currently open and allowing 21 pax during covid restrictions. Gym also open. Clean changing rooms with free pad lock at pool reception, no hats required in pool and towel also provided at reception. Childrens play area (didnt get a chance to get in) booking system in place for this (45min slots). Breakfast was satisfactory. Quality was not worth jumping up and down for however great range of food available. Hot food, cereals, granola, yogurt, fruit and pastries. Very well done in terms of covid precautions. Everything is individually wrapped and milk/juices in individual bottles. It got very busy on Sunday morning - really big queues waiting for tables however we booked in advance (recommend doing this as limited seating in the breakfast room for walk-ins). We ate dinner on Sat night in the bar. It was reasonably good food. No Heineken on draft which is a strange one. Good amenities close by. Tesco extra 3 min drive. Park walks on the door step alongside the river lagan. 10/15 min drive to city centre. Would a car if staying here. Will definitely stay again when in Belfast! Looking forward to the next time.

We booked an adjoining room for the weekend. One room was a King bed and the 2nd room for the kids had a King bed split into 2 and a good sofa bed. The rooms are modern and clean. Parking is easy and the location is great for exploring Belfast and surrounding areas. The staff were very friendly and accomodating.

The bad stuff:

WiFi in the bedrooms is extremely poor for a modern hotel. The signal is weak and the speed was not strong enough for a hotel of that size. 10 years ago, this may have been acceptable, but not in 2020 when work requires having a strong internet signal at all times. (see speedtest screenshot)

The breakfast cooked food was a major disappointment. Both omelettes ordered were rubbery and overcooked (not even sure real eggs were used as opposed to an egg mix) and the pancakes were burnt. It would be worth employing better skilled cooks in the kitchen, its not so hard to crack an egg and make an omelette. On day 2, we just avoided breakfast and got an excellent take away from 5A Coffee shop in BT9 5FH.

I would return even with the bad food and poor internet but it would be nice if these things were fixed by managemant.

After having a terrible first time experience at this hotel, the manager Stacey offered us a complimentary stay, however this time was just the same if not worse. After check in we sat outside the river bar and had to go in a few times and ask to be served outside, very long wait times on drinks, when we went in for our meal it was almost 25 minutes before my jug of water came and my partners pint and we ordered our starters. The pints were pulled really badly also. Starter was decent, however the steaks on the main course were extremely fatty and the side of garlic bread was completely burnt, after letting the waitress know she said she would take this of our bill and apologised. Waited over half an hour on the bill and trying to get staffs attention for anything was extremely difficult, our bill still had the steak and garlic bread on it and I had to explain to the waitress that it should of been taken off our bill as promised, she then came back a few minutes later and took our payment for the rest of the stuff, around 10 minutes later a young waiter brought us our bill even though we had already paid. The customer service in the river bar was extremely poor. We couldn’t get a suitable time for swimming as it was almost completely booked, when going into the girls bathroom a male housekeeper was standing there playing on his mobile phone and this made me feel extremely uncomfortable, the cleanliness of the toilets was poor and my partner said the male toilets were very unclean also. We had to let a member of staff know that the floor in the lift was completely soaken wet (not good for a pregnant lady who is at risk of falling), again talking about the risk of falling our corridor on the second floor was full of rubbish, empty bottles and plates lying outside people’s rooms that were there all day! also children were rolling around the floors and running around unsupervised in the corridors. The room we stayed in was spacious, clean, well equipped and very presentable, the only bad thing I would say is it that all the pillows were very firm. We went for breakfast at 9am and went and picked what we wanted and the quality of the breakfast was very poor and disappointing, cheap quality meat and bacon very undercooked which I cannot eat due to being pregnant, we both left breakfast still hungry as the food wasn’t enjoyable. Unfortunately After giving this hotel a second try to change our minds we can both honestly say we wouldn’t come back and wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone, which is disappointing as the hotel has the potential to be great. Upon check out we didn’t even have the chance to express our issues as the member of staff just took our key cards asked what room we stayed in and said that’s you checked out and walked away.

We first contacted the Crowne Plaza in June 2020 when our wedding in Northern Italy was cancelled. We got through to Anneka, who was with us right from June, to the day after our wedding. She was beyond professional and anything we mentioned or asked for, she got organised or sorted it out for us. Nothing was too much for her and the staff.

We meet 2 or 3 times before the wedding day and emailed regularly. The communication was brilliant and any time we wanted to visit the hotel to look at the wedding suite or areas for photographs, it wasn't a problem.

We had 16 people at the wedding and due to COVID-19 we were given the Lagan Suite, which is usually for 50 minimum, but social distancing meant we could have this room. With the package we went for we got a menu tasting and on the night we chose to do this, the Catering Manager himself came to ensure that the food was to our liking.

On the day before the wedding the room was set up and opened for my now wife to make sure the room was to her liking. Bert, another member of staff was more than helpful and was ready at a moments notice to help move or change things around even helping fit a last minute mirror decal we brought.

The wedding day went off without a hitch and everything ran smooth. All of the staff from Bar staff, waiting staff and the management staff were all super professional and helpful. The correct PPE was worn and they made sure that everything was clean and sanitised. The whole day ran like clockwork and we really couldn't have asked for any better. The food was gorgeous, everyone including the 2 vegetarians loved what was served, and the portion sizes were perfect. We were definitely not hungry.

The wedding suite (for the bride and groom) was beautiful. Bed was very comfortable, and the room itself had plenty of room, including a small living quarter, with TV and sofa. Breakfast was lovely and upon our leaving of the hotel Anneka was once again there to make sure that everything was to our satisfaction, and to see us off. But not before personally gathering up all our wedding supplies from the Lagan suite and bringing them to us to save us the trouble.

In all, If you need a wedding venue that has professional staff, brilliant facilities and gorgeous rooms, Crowne Plaza is for you. We will be back i'm sure for an anniversary. A big thanks again to the Staff and Management with a special mention to Anneka, Eileen and Rachael for making our day perfect.

Great hotel, pleasant staff and of course great food and bar. The Guiness was excellent. I must say that the room was of a very high quality - not only did it have a separate bath and walk in shower, but had the option of waterfall or standard shower head - very rare in this day and age...

Our stay was for leisure for my wife and I. Reception staff were always pleasant and very helpful. Covid19 protocols and practices were adhered to by all staff and most guests. Saw one Reception member asking a guest to put his mask in place before speaking to him, which was very good.
Minor dislikes was room cleaning member had left a cleaning cloth on the wash basin. Had 2 evening meals, the first one staff attention to diners by the Tunisian waiter was excellent. On the second occasion when there were 3 staff in attendance they tended not to be looking out for attention signals from guests and so response times were much slower. A similar experience was had at one of our 3 breakfast meals.
Minor points but I think worth mentioning.

This hotel is not worth the money!
Appalling service, with what I can only describe as lack of enthusiasm by staff and managerial skill to run an efficient service, this specific to the restaurant. The manager was rude and laughed at me when I asked for a refund. Service was extremely slow, dessert menu offered 2hr 20mins after sitting, although my son and I asked numerous staff for the menu. Table not cleared of empty glass for the three hours we were seated.

Restaurant bookings couldn’t be made until after 8pm, although only limited bar food menu and not suitable, nor healthy for children.

I spoke with another guest, who herself said the same, and also agreed the money paid for rooms is not worth it. Explaining they too could only be seated in the restaurant at 9pm on the evening of their arrival, and they too had two small children, and no food to be got for the kids.
Not exactly a family friendly hotel!!

A lady in the breakfast buffet returned her breakfast because she found a long hair in her meal, no apology given, she was asked what else she would like and the staff continued about their business.

My son found a sticky lolly and toy underneath the bed in our room, which was not ours, but left a feeling of disgust that the room was not clean..

I was locked out of my room, when asking to be let in by the accommodation staff, I was informed by the staff “I no speak English”.

On a positive note, the shower change rooms were spotless, and food in the restaurant could not be faulted, just the service.

I’m still waiting to hear about my refund, I was offered a nights stay at half price, which to be frank, I would not stay there again.
I find it appalling that a four star hotel could offer me this, expecting I pay money again for such poor service!!

Room dirty and even though it was said at reception it was not cleaned the next day??
The beds in the room were supposed be Queen size but were instead small doubles and payed for Queen size.
We went for food in the Green room restaurant and placed our order after a long wait my grandsons food came out and I was left waiting and waiting and still waiting eventually after the boys had finished and we waited so long my food arrived only to be disappointed 😔 the lamb shank was tough and reheated in a microwave with very little meat on it.
In Fairness the breakfast was very good and didn’t reflect on the previous evening of disappointment.
The staff were very friendly and pleasant.
