Larry, to yourself and the team there at Dundrum House, a huge "thank you" for hosting us on Saturday last. From the warm welcome, to the restaurant booking and the transport to and from Tossie's Cottage. Hope the lambing season goes well for you, too. Best wishes from the Gaffney & Torney families.
Larry, Liz, Hugh & Annie were the perfect hosts for our wonderful three day stay in September, 2019. Upon entering through their grand drive we were first greeted by some wonderful sheep, who reluctantly moved so we could proceed to the spacious parking area. Larry & Annie met us at the door and led us to our comfortable room, which overlooked the pasture. A delicious Irish breakfast was served in the beautiful dining room at a time selected for our convenience. Larry even offered to pick us up at the nearby pub in the evening, so we wouldn't risk driving on the dark narrow road. Thanks for the perfect weekend!
The online description talks of “three spacious en-suite bedrooms each with a beautiful view of the countryside or farm”. On arrival, my wife and I were installed in a rickety annexe with a kind of youth hostel kitchen on the ground floor. Our bedroom was clean and spacious enough but the beds, like the kitchen, were a bit flimsy and nondescript. The hot water was the hottest I’ve ever experienced. Another degree higher and it would have been steam. Breakfast was served in the old dining room but served at a communal table. As someone who does not communicate well early in the morning, I found this an ordeal especially as the table was dominated by a garrulous northern Irish woman who only wanted to talk about Presbyterianism. The cooked breakfast was fine and copious but the continental version was lacking in substance and represented poor value for money. The host, Larry, was very helpful on arrival and in providing information about suitable dining places in the local area. But, overall, this was a disappointing experience.…
We stayed in Tassagh for 7 days, Larry Liz and family made us feel so much like we were at home. Nothing was too much for them - our room was sufficient for our needs, clean comfortable and welcoming and our breakfasts were brilliant. Too much food on a normal breakfast so had boiled eggs one morning (Larry has to learn how to cook a soft boiled egg) only joking Larry! We will return hopefully next year until then thank you so much for being so kind, generous and for your hospitality. Miss the morning wonderful jokes and stories.
