We stayed for two nights in the room in the picture (number 8) and it was really lovely. It has a large en-suite with a good shower and a separate bath. The house is beautiful and is very secluded. It feels isolated in a good way. Just down from the house is the stunning private beach. Really enjoyed walking along... More

Tyrella House has the most stunning setting combining the best of everything - beach, parkland and mountains. Great food, hospitality and surroundings. It is well worth a visit and is close to beautiful parts of Northern Ireland.

David Corbett invites a few guests to share his eclectic home. His passion for polo and for restoring this house, which has been in the family for generations, makes for interesting conversation over breakfast and maybe dinner. A special place with fine rooms.

This is a private house, where you are a guest. The owner, David has an eclectic range of skills, interests and experiences and will engage in a broad variety of fascinating discussions! We were the only guests on this visit and stayed two nights. We ate in on the first night and out on the second. The food (both the... More

Completely charming! David was the perfect host and...the electric blankets on the beds! Cozy. The beach under the Mourne Mts.; the working farm, the poloponies. Breakfast in the formal dining room. Would go back in a heartbeat. PJ

Recently returned from a one night stay at Tyrella. The house and room were huge, and although it was a chilly night they had pre-heated the room with additional heaters and had switched on the electric blanket! I would still recommend to bring your thermals, but it added to the experience. We really enjoyed some quiet reading by the open... More

Just returned from a 2 night stay at Tyrella house. Total silence, total relaxation, great food, picturesque setting, old-world charm, perfect beach, great walks, great welcome, largest bath we have ever seen and a great host. Highly recommended to those who appreciate these qualities.

Having read some of the previous reviews, all I can say is there are those who understand places like Tyrella House, and those who don’t. This is not a hotel, nor is it really a standard bed & breakfast – which is what makes staying there so special. David Corbett welcomed us as if we were old friends come to... More

I'm not sure where the other reviews come from but we saw a dirty room with dead flies and bees on the carpet. When we first came looking for a room David advised us that he was full. While talking a little longer he advised that he had a room but the vanity mirror was broken. Didn't matter to us.... More

I am so sorry you did not have a good experience at Tyrella. I try hard to look after my paying guests as if they were my own friends but clearly on this occasion I got it badly wrong. On the night in question there was some sort of event on in Newcastle and as you admitted in your letter... More

We stayed at Tyrella House for 3 nights with great experience with host David Corbett and company of young couple Donald and Kiara from Dublin. A very unique house comprised of two buildings respectively from the 18th & 19th century with an old fortress and cannons. The best part has to be the private beach where we see mermaid's purse...
