Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After setting up camp atop Slieve Meelmore, mid way round the Mourne Wall, the weather changed rapidly, resulting in a quick evacuation down the mountain. With high winds and a now broken tent- camping was unfortunately no longer an option.
Having called multiple hostels and bnbs and finding them all fully booked (or unwilling to take us), we eventually got through to Helen- our saviour.
She quickly assured us that she had a super king bed ready for us and was even able to drive down to collect us and save us the 1 hour walk from the carpark to Tollyrose Country House.
We could not have received a warmer welcome. On arrival, Helen quickly showed us to our room where a hot shower was waiting. She provided us with tea and coffee and even went out of her way to make us toast as we were clearly tired and hungry. The room was immaculate and the bed like sleeping on a cloud ☁️.
A hot breakfast was served prompt at our agreed upon time and the service very personal.

We would have had quite a difficult night without Helen's hospitality and in the end our night was extremely comfortable. We are incredibly thankful and cannot recommend the stay here enough.
We hope to return, on a day with better weather, to complete the second half of the Mourne Wall, and to stay with Helen again 🌞.

We booked this last minute on 3rd June after being let down by a Airb&b experience. Helen, the landlady was so friendly and made us feel very welcome. Our room was spotless, you could have eaten your dinner off the bathroom floor! Absolutly Spotless! There was lots of little unexpected extras like a chocolate orange in the bedroom along with water and biscuits and tea making facilities. All these little extras made our stay extra special. Breakfast was amazing too! We will definately be back!

This is our second visit to Tollyrose Country House, and I can say for certain that it would be our last!!
Friendly welcome from the owners, makes you feel relaxed from the word go.
Room was so cosy and clean and fresh.
Black out blinds ensured a good night sleep, keeping that morning sun at bay until you want to see it.
Breakfast is cooked to perfection and the bacon is the nicest I think I have ever eaten, and lots of cereal, toast and juices for all tastes.
The surroundings are so quiet, broken only by the occasional crow calling its territory.
I certainly will be returning for another weekend break 🙌 😀 😎

What an amazing place! Helen was so welcoming to us.
Our accessible room was EXCEPTIONAL! The size of the room gave more than enough space to move around, the bathroom was huge and with everything that was needed from grab rails, easily accessible shower, shower stool and again space to move around easily. Obviously a lot of planning had gone into the process - and it looked (and was!) modern and bright.
The lift to get down to breakfast was easy to use. We were able to park by the room with a ramp leading in. If you need an accessible room in Ireland you MUST stay here!!
What a find! Such a shame that we couldn't stay longer and live so far away, but we will definitely recommend it to others!

Helen is a wonderful host, the rooms, breakfast and the quality of the inn and amenities are top notch and the setting is very pleasant. My room looked out to a beautiful countryside and I was able to just cross the street to enter Tollymore Forest Park. The drive into Newcastle and to many great hikes and views is short and easy.

The Tollyrose is a superb B&B. It is only about 4 miles from the centre of Newcastle, about half a mile from Tollymore Forest Park and a few miles away from the Mourne Mountains. The hosts are terrific-Eammon & Helen are very welcoming and nothing is too much bother for them. It is spotlessly clean, warm and very relaxing. The breakfast was excellent - fruit, cereal, toast and of course the best fry!!
We highly recommend staying here and definitely will be back again soon!!

Great family welcome, clean tidy warm room. Excellente breakfast.
Close to Tollymore park, short distance in car from Newcastle and Dundrum towns and beach areas.
Mourne mountains were beautiful and on a beach walk we observed seals from a distance.

Helen, the proprietor, could not have made us more welcome. A good clean room, accessible in our case, good Wifi, and plenty of suggestions for places to eat. A great breakfast and a sense of caring for our needs. We had car problems whilst there and I waited outside for the RAC to arrive, I was fine but Helen was concerned for my welfare offering to make me tea etc. I cannot fault the seer and would gladly recommend a stay here. We will certainly return when we have an opportunity.
