The hotel is ideally placed for walking to Slieve Donard & Slieve Commadagh with great mountain and sea front views. The female staff were very unfriendly and unwelcoming but the male members of staff were polite and friendly. The food was generally good with sufficient portions. However, the cooked breakfast lacked expected options like beans and/or tomatoes. We found a...

We have just had a lovely weekend break in the Avoca hotel which is right on the seafront in Newcastle "where the mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea". You could not get a better location and the recently updated Avoca has all the facilities for an enjoyable holiday. We stayed in room 30 on the top floor with...

I have never stayed in the hotel but have eaten and drinks at Leslies. My most recent visit was June this year 2016. They have done a remodel and really smartened the place up. Nice and bright and inviting and the food is great. Drinks always cold and fresh. I like the place mainly because they do not blast the...

Having visited the Avoca for a few years, the food has improved greatly. Breakfast very good and evening meals are tasty. My only moan is from some of the older staff, the younger ones were helpful and polite but obviously run off their feet from the barking orders from the older staff. We arrived and stated we were going to...
