We booked to stay here for a last little escape before the arrival of our first baby and it did not disappoint. We live in Donegal, so it was only a 30 minute drive away but when we arrived at the Beech Hill it felt like we were in the country, and further away from home than reality.
On our arrival we were very generously upgraded to one of the Master Suites. This room was amazing!! We had a large sitting room, a patio garden, a large bedroom with ensuite, and another toilet off the sitting room. The bathroom products were all 'The Handmade Soup Company' which was a lovely surprise as I love the quality of their products.
We ate dinner in the Gastro Pub which had a lovely atmosphere. The food was top class. We ate breakfast in the morning in Ardmore Restaurant, looking on to a beautiful view of the gardens and water. Unfortunately during our stay the weather was wet and windy so we did not get to enjoy the gardens, but they looked beautiful and I can only imagine how nice a stay in Beech Hill would be when the weather is better.
I cant believe that this was our first time staying in Beech Hill, as if I had known how beautiful it is, and how much of an escape it can feel with being so close to home I would have been here sooner. We will definitely be back.

Our son and daughter in law held their wedding ceremony and reception at the hotel last weekend. It was absolutely perfect. James was very welcoming with the detail of the wedding plans. He was accommodating for us to use the room prior to the wedding for set up and made sure we had everything we needed. David was also a great help organising the layout of the setting and attending to our needs. Jennifer at reception was so welcoming and pleasant and provided us with a complimentary upgrade of our room to a suite which made our stay so special . She also organised all staying guests rooms beside each other. She could not do enough for us even during our contact after the wedding. Nicole was also so helpful and didnt complain even though we lumbered her with 145 napkin tags ! Jp dealt with the wedding on the day and had everything run like clockwork. The waiting staff and bar staff were so helpful and polite . One even carried a fireside chair over from the house to the marquee for the comfort of a guest. As for the wedding itself, numerous people told us it was the best wedding they had ever been to. The ceremony took place in the marquee draped in fabric and fairy lights which created the perfect intimate ambience. The house accommodated everyone for canapes and drinks while the marquee was turned around to perfection. The meal was outstanding and service attentive. This wedding was only booked 6 weeks prior to the date and achieved everything and more in that time. The bride and groom and all their family and friends had an amazing time and we thank you for helping us make it happen . We would definitely recommend the Beechill for a wedding or overnight stay.

Attended a Intimate wedding at the hotel last weekend. Seeing friend again and celebrating was amazing but our attendance was made even more special by a first class hotel. The staff were excellent friendly and approachable, with nothing to much. Michelle the head house keeper was available on our arrival with reassurance that standards were high In these times of reluctance to be away from home. It was obvious that care and attention was taken on the cleaning of the beautiful room. I highly recommend a stay at this hotel and I look forward to a staying myself again soon

Thank you Beech Hill and team for a wonderful stay

It is much nicer to stay here than in the centre of the city. Beautiful bedlinen, wonderful pillows, very comfortable bed. It's the second time I've stayed in one of the large rooms facing the garden. The room was spotlessly clean and maintained every day by lovely staff. Breakfast is cooked to order and staff couldn't do enough for you. It really is a haven for peace and quiet and relaxation. Amazing grounds. I've recently stayed for 5 nights and have no hesitation in recommending it. Just to add - the Bistro is lovely - carefully prepared food available all day and it's inexpensive. Thank you everyone.

We had a fantastic stay at the hotel!!!! Overall I would say the hotel is mixture of old and new and is used by locals, for weddings and by quests who are staying for a few days. It is cosy, very welcoming and a great place to chill out especially beside the lovely fires. The hotel is an old Manor House with decor that matches the era of the building. It was used by the American army as a base during the Second World War and there is a wide range of photographs and artefacts detailing their time at the Manor. Our bedroom was more modern and absolutely beautiful with lots of space and a very comfortable bed. The new bar is decorated to a very high spec and the food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. However, I would say that it is the staff who make the hotel, they are the friendliest staff I have ever come across as well as being super efficient at their jobs. There are lovely walks in the grounds and a taxi into Derry city is an average of £5 if you wish to venture a bit further.

We got married in August this year 2022. I write this review because I wish I had read it when I was looking for a venue for our wedding. I regret having done it at the Beech Hill. Thank God, our celebrant, our baker, our florist and our musician all were very professional, and our guests made sure our day was very special but dealing with the venue management since the contract was signed was a disaster.
First you make the prepayment and then they send you a contract without much detail. One of the points of the contract is that you must book hotel rooms as well (10 in our case), but the price of the rooms is only sent after, and believe me, it is very high (about 150 to 250 pounds). The values are abusive and of course none of our guests wanted to stay and pay that price. In the end, we invited some friends to stay overnight, and paid the bill, because we were kindly threatened with having the event cancelled if we didn't pay everything before the wedding week.
Communicating with what we thought was the events team was very stressful because there wasn't a person to accompany us from the start. Several people read your email, several respond, and it seems that there is no internal communication. We had to repeat the information and ask questions to different people, who gave us different answers. We have emails with 6 different people, and it was very confusing and unprofessional.
By the way, our contract was from our choice The Absolute Package, which includes scones and short breads as you can see in the picture, and they never served them for our guests. When I asked the manager during the reception, she told me that it was because they served brownies instead (we were never asked about if we wanted brownies instead of scones and shortbread and our international guests were really looking forward to try them). But believe me, none of our guests saw or tasted a brownie in the reception!!!
Also, we were charged for inflation increasing (this was on august). So, in the end, they charged us for more than the contracts said and gave us less. I hope you think twice if you want to make there such an important event as your wedding. The 3 stars are because of the beauty of the grounds and the staff on the wedding day (not management!!), especially Alina.

The concerns you have highlighted here were addressed in the lead up to your wedding and we understood they were resolved to your satisfaction, but I am sorry this now appears not to be the case. We are delighted to know that you were happy with the beauty of the grounds and the staff on the day of the wedding and a personal thank you for your appreciation to myself. My overnight stay at Beech Hill was perfect - the staff were so welcoming and friendly right from the start! Because it was a special birthday celebration they had upgraded us to the Presidential Suite as a surprise. How impressed were we when we heard the names of all the dignitaries and celebrities who had occupied the room before us!
We had booked a meal for 13 in the Ardmore Restaurant that evening. As my guests arrived they enjoyed drinks beforehand around a big fire in the lounge.
The choice and quality of food on offer was first class and some of my guests commented on the great lay-out of the table where we could see and talk to everyone.
Staff at all times were attentive and accommodating but I would particularly like to mention Orla with whom I spoke on the phone several times before my stay, and the bar attendant/ waitress who served us throughout the evening; unfortunately I didn't get her name.
I would highly recommend both accommodation and food at the Beech Hill Country House Hotel.

From the moment we arrived until we left everything at Beech Hill was first class.
Our garden suite was absolutely class from the bedroom itself to living area and the walk in wardrobe.
We then went down to the cellar bar were once again we were met by lovely friendly staff again.
I had booked the valentines package which included the six course dinner which was absolutely lovely and the service was second to none.
The next morning the freshly cooked breakfast was lovely and not like usual carvery style breakfast you get in most hotels these days.
I will without doubt be going back for another stay at Beech Hill and definitely will be going back soon to try the food in the cellar bar as from what I seen looks lovely as well.

Just had the most wonderful time at my daughters wedding on 15thjuly.. what a magical day. From the ceremony in the beautiful forest to the amazing food and service throughout the day. Thanks to James, Gary and all the amazing staff for being so attentive and professional. The rooms we stayed in were absolutely gorgeous and breakfast was delicious . Even the guests who travelled were raving about how beautiful the hotel and grounds are and can’t wait to get back for another stay!! I would honestly recommend the Beech hill to anyone planning their big day.. the only negative of the day was the decoration of the banquet room which was part of the wedding package, which was very disappointing . Thankfully the bride and groom had organised with Wishingtree.com to decorate the forest and put extra decorations in the banquet room which improved it immensely. Absolutely loved the day!!

Visited here for a wedding in the marquee. The setting is lovely, lots of attractive gardens and the house itself is very grand. The marquee is well set up, good decor and decent bathrooms. Food and drink, not so great.

For dinner we had soup, which was fairly bland and a minuscule portion. It's cheap to make so it's a bad start to the meal when you see them scrimped on the soup. A sorbet was served as a palate cleanser but it was fairly sweet so was almost like a dessert. I had roast beef which was well cooked and flavoursome but let down by undercooked roast potatoes. Vegetarian main which my wife had was another bland affair, a risotto. It's possible it was a vegan risotto but the vegetarians weren't given an option. The dessert was a pretty decent sticky toffee pudding.

Drinks selection in the marquee was very poor, I asked for a craft beer and the waitress didn't even know what that meant. The website talks about local suppliers and produce but apparently this doesn't translate into stocking local beer. Most top venues now stock at least 1 or 2 IPAs for those who want a decent beer. Wine and whiskey selection was equally uninspiring.

Overall, a disappointing visit as I had heard great things about the food and drink served in the restaurant and gastropub. It feels like the food and drink setup in the marquee is almost an afterthought.

The Beechill has a lift and is easy to access from the car park into the main reception areas. I presume that they have to be accessible for those requiring easy access. I would however check with them before booking.

what is heating like in wedding pavilion during january?
Answer from Conor D
Hi Eileen, thank you for your message. Our marquee pavilion is a permanent structure which we use all year round. It is heated by an industrial air handling unit which is very powerful and we have had no problems with getting it heated during the winter months. Unfortunately the weather is something we cannot control but our winters seem to be getting milder and on occasions when we do get snow and ice we try to manage the conditions in the car park and foot paths with salt and grit. Please let me know if you would like to come and view the marquee? kind regards Conor Donnelly - Sales Manager
