Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Arrived for late night checkin for a two night stay. We had several rooms under the one booking. We offered a card on account but couldn’t communicate with the staff due to the level of noise from a band playing in the foyer. When the morning of checkout arrived reception rang our room and demanded we come dow to pay our bill we promptly did and they processed payment but they failed to charge the full booking they then harassed our remaining guests to leave their rooms and pay their bills. The staff were rude and unhelpful the manager did a runner rather than answer any queries. Hotel was unkept and in need of a good clean. But the outstanding factor was the RUDE staff. We travel for work as a group and stay weekly in hotels worldwide this was without exception the worst hotel experience ever

I was very disappointed with my room. It was dark and uninspiring. The lighting was totally inadequate. There was no safe, no minibar, no dressing gowns, and there was no shower gel - two shampoos rather than a gel and a shampoo. When I arrived at the room I was met with a blast of hot air from a fan which, I presume, had been switched on since the room had been cleaned. What an unnecessary waste of electricity!!

Staff were friendly especially Gerry the concierge lovely man to deal with made us feel very welcome. Hotel was clean and in the centre of Derry. Pool and gym was lovely. Food was delightful. Highly Recommended this hotel for families and couples. Parking under the hotel however limited amount of spaces we had to park behind the hotel in Tesco car park cost us 12pound for the night.

My friend and I went to Coppins Bar for a bit of lunch, very dissapointed. Lots of staff but not one of them were interested in taking our order. Made to feel we were a bother and an inconvenience to them. When lunch did eventually arrive - it certainly wasn't anything to write home about.

Thank you to the City Hotel and Staff for such a great NYE! The card and room upgrade to mark my special occasion was so thoughtful. The room was absolutely lovely and beds were very comfy. I would like to commend all the bar and waiting staff for their hard work on such a busy night!
