Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice clean en-suite single room with everything I needed except a hairdryer but this was produced right away when I asked the host. Room was quite warm even though heating wasn’t on but as a fan was provided this worked wonders. Quite noisy traffic on busy road outside my room which did affect my sleep but couldn’t be helped. Nice friendly host. Definitely worth £45 a night. Decent breakfast if requested but I thought a bit pricey at £9.50

Sunday lunch was fantastic. Roast chicken, beef, and pork along with a full choice menu and very reasonable price. Staff are super friendly and polite. Highly recommended 👌 Atmosphere was pleasant and quiet, with background Scottish music added to the atmosphere.

We stayed in room 4, small but adequate and clean. The bathroom ok apart from broken toilet roll holder, shower door came off the rail at the top, attempted to have a shower but the water pressure was non existent and only one temperature, burning hot! Gave up on that and had to wait a good 5 minutes for tap water to get hot. There is no reception, you have to go to the bar which is also very dated and full of older men watching football. The staff were friendly enough. If you are looking for somewhere just to sleep would be ok but not a family hotel

Chose this hotel as it was convenient for visiting friends. When arriving no reception, had to sit in the bar before being attended to. Had a single room which was ok, clean and plenty of sanitiser. Went out to meet friends and came back and went for a bar meal. Nothing very appetising on menu and settled for scampi. The bar/lounge was not inviting, had big screens and football was on. There was people there sitting drinking, including one who was so loud called him motormouth, but the language was a disgrace, he saw me look over and did apologise. The manager played darts and the barmaid sat with them. The following morning breakfast, never had my toast buttered coming from the kitchen making it soggy by the time was ready to eat. The poached egg done in a poacher was cooked underneath but was uncooked on top, my bedroom that day was untouched, when I returned was as I had left it to go out. If I known that would have at least made the bed and hung up the towels properly, a disgrace. The only decent thing I found about the place was the Shish Tandoori , part of the hotel, which my friend and I did enjoy. Would not recommend this hotel and will not be back.

First thing to say is that the guy who runs it is a gentleman and all his staff that I met where pleasant and helpful. My room was small and compact but it had everything I might need, tea and coffee, a t.v,a selection of toiletries and an iron and ironing board. Everything was clean and tidy and replenish and cleaned every day. The food in the Indian restaurant was excellent and the breakfast was nice. You have to place your order for breakfast the night before, but for me that's fine. The only drawback and it's mentioned several times on other reviews is the noise from the bar. The bedrooms are over a very popular bar and the jukebox seems to be on all the time. If you like darts and pool then this is the place for you, but you will have to be good as there experts here. If you are a light sleeper or wont an early night then the Brig Inn is not for you.

I have so much to say about this that I don't even know where to begin. I try avoid giving bad reviews but this one was just beyond anything I'd imagine for a local owner. The WORST part We paid for breakfast each day. The breakfast itself was good, but BEWARE. If you didn't finish something on your plate, your food will be 'rationed' the next day. The amount will reduce magically. If you bring it up with the owner/manager, they WILL say "well you didn't finish it yesterday..". I can't believe they said that! Now, I'm all for saving food, but I didn't realize that the choice of saving food was done for us! Room Room is tiny, I mean really tiny. I would recommend only if you are travelling alone. Unless you are carrying a backpack, there will be no space to move in the room. Shower This is also tiny, and the shower door is broken. It was hard to move in and out, and the door looks like it would fall off any time. Food Food at the Indian restaurant is great. I'll give that to them! Location Beware that they are located at a place that is away from other food choices and the main town area. You are sort of stranded. This doesn't count towards my overall review of them, but just something for others to be aware of! Noise I was told that the rooms above the bar can be loud, music plays till late. For the price you pay, you can get somewhere else with better facilities! You've been warned!

Very unwelcomed on arrival, shocked to see my personal details including payment written in a book with no security. Room door wouldn’t lock, and stains on the bed covers. Couldn’t of stayed as felt so unsafe

We came here with a group of friends on a Saturday lunch time. I ordered a vegetarian burger. When the food came everyone's chips looked nice, golden and crispy. When mine arrived they were white, undercooked and a bit raw. I told the waitress that my chips were undercooked and the reply I got was "they are vegan chips they are meant to be different" to my knowledge chips are vegan. I never ate the chips and told the waitress to show them to the chef that they were not cooked properly when she collected my plate. If you go here don't order anything vegetarian if you want proper chips. I felt that the waitress was very rude as she did not want to listen to me.

Went here with the family for dinner yesterday afternoon . Plenty of parking spaces. The meal was excellent a really lovely Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. Some of our group has the steak and said it was cooked to perfection The kids meals were great too. Delicious desserts. The waiter & waitress were really polite and patient..there were 13 of us . Nothing was too much trouble. Highly reccomend this place for dinner and will definitely be going back again

My wife and I found our room very comfortable and very clean. The restaurant was excellent, great food and very friendly staff, our only regret is we couldn't stay longer as we had be somewhere. We had a good breakfast the next morning after a good sleep. We will definitely be back.
