Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have stayed at this hotel many times with no issues. However this time was a different experience which I need to share. Check in was pleasant but upon entering my room it was immediately obvious that there was no heating on. It was so cold I could not take my coat or hat off. I turned the room heating on but nothing happened. I called reception who advised that they would turn it on and would be ok in 15 mins. Time passed and the heating still did not come on. I went down to reception to advise this. They told me that the issue was because I’d done something wrong and that their system showed no errors. They agreed to move me to another room. Upon entering the room it was apparent that there was no heating on. I called again and was told I was doing something wrong and that it would heat up in 15 mins. So I had a shower and 30 mins later there was still no heating. I went out for dinner and again advised reception who were now very rude and rolling his eyes. I returned after dinner to find the room was no warmer but a portable electric fan had been provided. I went down to reception to say this was not acceptable. They again rolled their eyes and said there was nothing wrong. I insisted that someone came to the room to tell me what I was doing wrong. I was told to sit and wait because they were very busy. A few mins later a man agreed to come to the room to check. He immediately could tell there was a problem when the door was opened, had a look at the room heater control and gave up. He went off again to find me my 3rd room. By 9pm he came with a new room key for the 6th floor agreeing that I was not in the wrong. I went to the room to find that the key would not open the door. I went back down to reception to again be greeted by the rude young man with rolling eyes who gave me new cards. Up I went to find a warm room. This was a ridiculous situation, I was not believed from 4:30 to 8:30pm in fact accused of not operating the control panel properly. The evening staff (one in particular) was exceptionally rude and I got no apology until check out from the Manager. Will I be staying here again ?

My wife and I were looking for a hotel as I was going to the football. We had stayed here before. Well we weren’t disappointed the staff were ever so freindly. The heating wasn’t working in our room so they offered to move us. They had been having problems with it. The lady in charge of laundry gave us a heater witch did the job . The breakfast was lovely as well. Plenty of options for continental and cooked breakfast. The plus point is it is right next to the bus station and railway station at union square. If back in Aberdeen I would definitely recommend this hotel. The rooms were spotless.

Have stayed many times at this hotel and on the whole it’s been good. Didn’t start out well when we checked in and room keys did not work. Went back down and got different room keys which also didn’t work. The room was 729 and I had to leave my 82 year old mother up there while I went up and down to reception which was not ideal . Reception changed room to 727 and gave me keys which thankfully worked. About 10.30 that night there were still children running along the corridor and knocking on doors. So much noise with banging doors too. On night two the weather turned with strong winds and room 727 seemed so be getting the brunt of it. Every wall in the room was creaking and cracking all night as the wind blew. So again little to no sleep. It made us a bit fearful for the structural integrity of the building. So be wary staying on 7th floor in windy conditions. Room 727 also overlooked the busy road outside and you could hear every car and every person shouting outside late at night

Arrived to Aberdeen by train late in the evening, so this hotel was perfectly located next to the train station. Got a room upgrade when asking for a quiet room due to need for working and sleeping un-interrupted. The breakfast had several different selections for your choice. The best part for me, leaving for work in the mornings, was that the hotel is next to the main bus station, so easy access to buses to/from airport area where a lot of the oil companies and oil service companies are situated with their offices. The hotel is next to a shopping center , where 1. floor have a selection of restaurants to choose from. The hotel is clean, nice staff, but a bit worn. Can absolutely be recommended.

Perfectly nice hotel, acceptable for business stays, centrally located. Some rooms have a less than perfect view (103 onwards on level 1). Staff are very friendly, helpful and polite. Can't do enough for you. Rooms were clean, although a little on the chilly side. Bathroom was clean and the shower very good, both pressure and temp.

Our tour group was booked at this hotel for one night. It is conveniently located within the same complex as the Railway Station. Reception (on the first floor) was straightforward, and the accommodation was a comfortable and well appointed routine hotel room - overlooking a flat roof area. The buffet breakfast had a wide choice with friendly staff, although it did take some time to obtain some advertised dietary items. In summary we experienced a "Good" rather than "Very Good" city centre stay.

Very good value for money. Clean and comfortable room but the staff at breakfast are why I’m giving 5 stars! So helpful & understanding with my daughter’s gluten-free needs. Will definitely be booking to stay here again on our next visit to Aberdeen.

Absolutely delightful staff - a special shout out to Rosa who really looked after us. Comfortable room, bed and bath! Great views, nice bar and delicious food. The only criticism is the size of the chicken skewer...advertised as lunch, but was really an appetiser. Wish we didn't have to leave at 4am!

Considering the age of this hotel, it is still in fine shape. The reception are is very smart and well kept, bar area very pleasant too. My room was very comfortable with a nice deep bath which I really appreciated on that freezing cold December night - although the room temperature was just that bit too cold for me even with the controls at high. I had an early flight in the morning so didn’t have time for breakfast so can’t comment on that. I will definitely stay again - very pleasant.

Wonderful hotel, absolutely second to none in every respect. The hotel is spotless and our room was beautifully maintained and extremely clean. Rooms have everything you could possibly need and are warm and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, nicely presented and plentiful, with a wide range to suit individual tastes. Staff here are just lovely-caring, kind and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. This break was just the tonic following a packed year and long hours at work and a perfect escape from the busy lifestyle so many of us have today. Our thanks to the hotel team, outstandingly good and we will definitely return!
