Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed in a dog friendly, ground floor room overlooking the garden and river Dee. The room was immaculate with nice furnishings and a spacious bathroom with Molton Brown toiletries. Breakfast was lovely with a great choice from hot and cold dishes. Staff were all lovely from check in to the breakfast staff. Look forward to returning and staying a bit longer. It's a lovely spot for relaxing.

Hotel's Favourite
Maryculter House is a slice of heaven in the highlands, from check in to check out the welcome is friendly and warm and staff going the extra mile comes as standard. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable , a lot of thought has gone into their design. There is a proper carton of milk in the fridge and a personal cafetière plus still and sparkling water in cans (very environmentally friendly). There are Molten Brown toiletries and a very comfy bathrobe. We stayed in a River View room and were lucky enough to see a seal, a kingfisher and an otter all from the comfort of our room. The food at Maryculter House is excellent. Breakfast caters for every taste and includes smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, a Full Scottish and even porridge with a wee dram of Royal Lochnagar whisky. We ate our evening meal in Poachers which has an open fire for added ambience and windows overlooking the Dee. I had the chicken with wild mushrooms and sweet potato which was superb both in taste and presentation. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and the wines were good value for money. There is a bar area for those just wanting a drink and a good selection of whisky and gin. Maryculter House also does packages including concerts at the P&J in Aberdeen. We enjoyed the Rod Stuart event in December last year and it was amazing value for money. We had fantastic seats, access to the VIP lounge and were chauffeured there and back. A great meal in poachers before the event plus a night cap in the great hall when we got back. It was a complete experience and worth every penny. Maryculter House is the perfect destination for a weekend or even longer and we will certainly be heading back there as soon as we can.

Faultless from beginning to end. The staff were attentive, polite and friendly. The food was delicious, the Scottish breakfast was cooked to perfection and the evening meal was one of the best I have had in a long time. The room (228) was beautiful and absolutely immaculate. I look forward to returning one day.

What an amazing find! A beautiful, peaceful hotel right on the banks of the river Dee. The hotel has an amazing history and the hotel staff could not have been nicer. The restaurant had something g for everyone and the service and quality was second to none. The breakfast was also amazing and in all the hotels I have stayed in only the BEST offer to pour your tea for you and they follow this service here. The rooms are beautiful and the staff could not be nicer. We will definitely make time to go back again.

Only stayed one night for business but it was fantastic. The room was well presented, felt luxurious. seemed newer and fresher than a lot of the hotel Ive stayed at lately, I wish I could have stayed longer. Only downside was, the breakfast wasn't great. nothing bad but could be better.

Not a stay, booked for Sunday lunch as a treat for my wife and I, confirmed the booking and blow me, 30 minutes before we were due to set off, they called to say no booking - a mistake - what a TUI moment!

Stayed one night in one of the Heritage Riverview rooms. The room was beautiful, clean and very comfortable. We had a meal in the restaurant and it was lovely, good portion sizes. The hotel had a lovely relaxed atmosphere and the staff here very helpful. Must say they make the best Old Fashioned cocktails. Would definitely recommend and will visit again. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Booked a 2 night New year package and enjoyed every second of it, The river side room was beautiful, housekeeping was the best I’ve ever experienced. The staff were exceptional we felt so pampered nothing was too much trouble for them, the lovely girl at dinner went out her way to get me something else when nothing suited me, absolute angel ! Enjoyed the New Year’s party and the wine tasting though I’m not a wine drinker so got rather sloshed 😂 . Breakfast was great and once again cannot praise every single member of staff high enough we were totally spoilt and can’t wait to come back to this stunning hotel.
