We were gifted an Itison voucher from our daughter’s so decided on a Sunday night stay, it was a good choice. The hotel was very quiet due to this, so we had a peaceful sleep apart from the seagulls which is typical for Aberdeen city centre!! Our voucher included afternoon tea so we headed down at 4.00pm, and the waitress made us very welcome, we were the only customers. A choice of cocktail, a few sandwiches, a scone with cream and jam followed by a choice of cakes. Very nice and the quantity was fine for us. Our room (209) was at the back of the hotel so very quiet and was very comfortable. Breakfast was a good choice of cereal, juice etc and we opted for egg benedict and the healthy breakfast which was freshly cooked due to the place being quiet. Again the staff were very pleasant and efficient. One caveat I would state it the dynamic of the hotel may change when busy, especially at a weekend, as it is well situated for night clubs, pubs, public transport and shopping.

Supposed to be a 4 star hotel. More like 2 star. Upon arrival the very nice receptionist told us they are recruiting cleaners and other staff due to a change in management. The room itself was okay apart from the cobwebs on the walls and main light. The en-suite had a mouldy shower head the extractor hadn’t seen a duster in a number of months. I feel for the staff as the waiter was the receptionist the cleaner basically everything was done by this guy.

The hotel is located perfectly in the centre a small 5 minute walk from train and bus station. The reception staff Geoffrey and Andria were both kind and helpful with the questions that I had. The room was more than decent for the price paid, with all the amenties that you would expect.

I attended the ROX hotel on a couple of occasions over the last two months to celebrate with friends for an afternoon tea.
On both occasions the soup was served cold and it was cold!!!!! not even Luke warm. We complained and it was duly taken away to be heated up and again served cold.
The value for money was atrocious, a small egg cup full of cold soup a sausage roll, three quarters of a sandwich on hard bread a scone and some small sweets served with a cup of tea for £16.
No gin glasses for the gins and atmosphere abysmal.
I emailed them a few days later to tell them how disappointed I was at the service and quality we received to be told they don’t serve the soup hot in case people burn themselves!!!! Really we are grown adults not in kindergarten, would they serve soup cold in the restaurant and not expect to get complains I don’t think so.
I replied to their email and have not yet had a reply, absolutely shocking customer service for a four star hotel.
DO NOT WASTE your money go elsewhere. Absolute rubbish you would have more fun in a paper bag.

Stayed here in January for my friend's birthday. Booked an upgraded executive room as it was for a special event... shouldn't have bothered! It was a bog standard room with marks on the carpet, a basic leather sofa without cushions, no mini bar or fridge and only 2 sachets of coffee and tea provided!

There were no sockets beside the beds, and the view out of our window was of the lower flat roof!

The only good point to the room was the bathroom which was lovely and had a powerful shower.

Breakfast was included but there was no vegetarian cooked breakfast on offer which really limited our choices so we both went for the healthy breakfast which consisted of 2 poached eggs, some fried mushrooms, spinach and.... uncooked, halved cherry tomatoes??

The staff I met were lovely and the hotel is centrally based and that's as much as I can say in its defense.

I did send an email of complaint to allow them a chance to respond but never received a reply.

Travelled with a friend and only stayed 1 night, arriving late. Reception staff were most helpful, hotel clean and with every facility we required.
My travel companion has allergies to gluten, soy and quinoa and the breakfast team provided specific items to allow her to have a hearty breakfast.
Would highly recommend for customer service and guest experience.

Absolute worst Christmas party i have ever been to. To say it was disorganised would be an understatement!
I would like to say that this is not a reflection on the bar and waiting staff as they clearly had no manager or team leader organising the evening and they did the best that they could under pressure from everyone complaining.
We had pre ordered drinks for the table from the list sent to us by Rox. These were not at the table as expected when we got seated at around 7pm and we had some issue then getting them which we eventually did after 8pm.
9:30pm the starters were beginning to arrive. Staff no clue what they were doing and walked aimlessly around the room not knowing where to serve. Everyone was given starters at different times and half the table had finished before the others were even served. Soup was cold and the quality shocking!
This was the best the night got.
Now Sunday morning and i am still waiting for my main course and pudding to arrive! Apparently there was a carvery style main set up at around 11pm that was out for around 10 minutes which would not have been enough for everyone. By this time it was too late. Tables up and left after realising they weren't being fed whilst the other half either went out to a take away and brought it back or had food delivered to the function room! I have a video taken at around 11:30pm showing all the tables with cutlery still in place not used and take away boxes on the tables.
Absolute disgrace and i will be requesting a full refund for a service paid for and not received! How they can take peoples money knowing that they are not organised or equipped to deliver on what has been sold is crazy.
I feel sorry for the floor staff working there and the complaints they must be having to deal with on a daily basis.
Staff had told us that each night had been the same but last night had been the worst. Also they had discussed cancelling the evening due to the issues they had been having. I question why they didn't just do this.
Then to top it off the people who had booked a room to stay couldn't even get a breakfast that again they paid for as part of the room. Choice of toast or toast with some cereal then put out half an hour later!

Well where to begin,

On arrival the hotel looked closed lights turned off and no one at the reception desk. After walking around the public areas up and down the glass staircase I find a member of staff. But not dressed as staff he eventually comes to reception to check me in but insists I haven't paid. Upon questioning him he later agrees I have paid via booking.com

The hotel wifi didn't work until I spoke to a young man on the reception he explained there was a few teething issues with IT equipment but got me connected to the WiFi, he was very helpful explaining the hotel has just reopened after being closed since Covid and had changed hands.

One night I noticed an Indian man arguing with staff I think he was drunk! I later find out this was the hotel General Manager. I must admit it was funny watching him in action, as he couldn't stand upright and was struggling to speak clearly.

Then there was Breakfast or lack of. Juice boxes water boiler few sugar sticks and some Nescafe sticks from the rooms! Really? Bread I wouldn't feed to a dog and the worlds smallest pastry. Holiday inn express you even get a full sized pastry! These things are a joke! Few cereal bars and wait for it a mars bar!

The room! Stained pillows dust everywhere but not on the flat surfaces I'll give them that! Bathroom was clean but the water! The water tasted odd I decided to buy water from the shop across the road as I wasn't drinking that!

No bar open, no cooked food. No staff. Gym not open. Not a 4-star hotel!

Honestly just book anywhere else or sleep on the street!

Booked an afternoon tea for 4 for my 22nd birthday, made two dietary requirements (one vegetarian and one required JUST almond milk). Arrived at the hotel cafe and there was no record our booking, was left for about 10 minutes while several members of staff ran about looking for our booking. After the lack of organisation, from what I’d assume to be the manager, we received our afternoon tea and it was a shocking display of some limp, stale and unappetising food. The service was also very poor as there was no apology for the loss of booking and no member of staff checked how our food was. After waiting about 25minutes, the almond milk was not given to the table and had to be requested, then being told they had none and then given soya milk. The venue restaurant was lovely, however our experience was not. The food was very stale and far from satisfactory, fair to say we will not be returning for the afternoon tea anytime soon. Very disappointed and let down after the birthday girl was far from pleased.

When we arrived we was told that they were under staffed, and many rooms were not ready yet including ours, but from what i saw nothing was cleaned that day. i myself am a cleaner & i can assure you this place has not been cleaned in a long time, luckily the bed was clean & we had not intended to stay in the room other than to sleep. Not happy about having to clean the shower before i could use it either.
i would not ever stay here again & nether would i ever recommend it to anyone. We did not stay for the £15 breakfast i can only imagine the kitchen standards if this is what the guests have to stay in.
So much for for the enhanced cleanliness procedures. The toilet roll came off the holder this morning to discover a brown smear under it with other brown sparks on the wall, every wall was marked or drinks had been spilled on them, i have many more photos but could only upload 10
