The Banff Springs Hotel garners praise for its spotless ambiance and beautifully decorated rooms, where guests enjoy the comfortable and clean accommodations. Celebrated for its lively Hogmanay festivities, the hotel's service is noted for being attentive and professional. While some guests find the dining options to be on the pricier side, the overall value is considered fair. However, caution is advised due to slippery bathroom surfaces. Despite this, the hotel's cleanliness and festive atmosphere continue to be a highlight for many travelers.

Stayed here for 2 nights over weekend on an Itison deal which gave you B&B with an allowance of £24pp for Dinner. Check in was very smooth, room was clean and basic but adequate with fantastic sea views, huge selling point for this hotel. Dinner was very good both evenings, with a decent choice and good quality on offer, felt a bit let down by the breakfast on both mornings as the food was a bit greasy, undercooked and lacked taste. Service was excellent mind you and all members of staff were very friendly. Decent hotel in a fairly remote part of the country, but a good base for exploring the villages in the area.

Recently stayed at this wonderful hotel with my husband as soon as we walked in the door we were greeted by the very smiley receptionist (didn’t catch her name). Check in was very efficient and all covid related procedures were explained thoroughly. The room was of a very clean standard which made us feel very safe during this pandemic. The bed was one of the best I have experienced in a hotel - very comfy. We had dinner booked in the restaurant which we very much enjoyed. Waiting and bar staff were very attentive and nothing was too much hassle all very professional. There is a very good selection of gins which is very neatly displayed in the drinks menu.

We will be recommending this hotel to all family and friends and will definitely be back again.

A very pleasant lunch here in the bar area. Menu selection was great and our food was delicious. My daughter had food off the children’s menu and very unusually the food for her arrived without burning her mouth, this kind consideration is a major plus point. The service was attentive. Great view from the window seat they gave. We'll be back, thank you.

My Husband and I have been regulars at the Hotel, and paid for our Son and his partner to stay here as a treat, this is what they experienced - As mentioned by a previous reviewer, lovely hotel but disappointing customer service, stayed in a Superior room for 2 nights which we couldn't fault, but were very let down by the customer service, we booked a table for Dinner on our 2nd night, and arrived on time to be told our table had been given to someone else, we were then ushered into another room to wait with various others for a table, 25mins later we got sat at a table, we ordered drinks, 20mins later we still hadn't had anyone attend our table to take food order, even though we tried on various occasions to attract the attention of staff, we eventually, decided to leave the restaurant, on leaving we saw a member of staff and explained the situation, and to be quite honest she couldn't have cared less, only once the penny dropped that we were residents in the Hotel did we get a response, which was a phone call to our room offering us dinner free of charge in our room, we accepted this as we had no other alternative due to the current Covid restrictions (10pm curfew), the food arrived cold and inedible. We couldn't give any feedback on checking out in the morning, as the reception area was unmanned. When we arrived home we emailed the Hotel for the attention of the owners with our feedback, only to get a reply of your food and drinks were free. We stayed in a Premium room which wasn't cheap, The Hotel can obviously afford to lose Custom as we won't be back and will make sure we pass on our experience to others as we have recommended the Hotel to others on various occasions.

We stayed one night for our anniversary. Having booked online I then phoned to upgrade our room to a have a sea view, room was £128 for one night, included breakfast. The room wasn’t huge, (we stayed in a Travelodge the night before and had more room there) but well decorated and nicely furnished. The windows however were filthy and had a fair few birds droppings which didn’t look fresh so I guessed the windows are perhaps overdue a clean. Also the toilet sink flowed away very very slowly and the toilet seat was loose. I just would have hoped for a bit more at that price. The staff were all very friendly and seemed very knowledgable in all the new ways of moving people around the hotel. We had evening meal and breakfast in the hotel restaurant. The service both times was pretty good although we did have to ask twice for an item but it was sorted quickly. One main meal was lovely the other not so good . I have never seen macaroni cheese with loads of what looked and tastes like melted butter in the bottom of the dish. The macaroni cheese was nice enough until you got nearer the bottom of the dish, haven’t seen that before ? Chips were not great either, menu says they are homemade which I think was right as they were all random sizes but they were soggy and just not very good. But the deserts were perfect and beautifully presented. We slept well the bed was comfy. Breakfast again was good but we asked one breakfast to have a well cooked fried egg which was not given and we finally got our toast when we were almost finished our breakfast. It wasn’t that busy and there was enough staff not sure why it was a bit disjointed. They have different staff who take your fruit juice order, then someone takes tea/coffee order, someone else takes your hot food order and yet someone else takes your toast order. Never seen that before anywhere and it didn’t work very good for us anyway. This isn’t a bad review don’t be put off. The hotel is lovely but I felt for the price it could have been a little better, the attention to detail was missing. Also no tea/coffee facilities in the room (not sure if this is due to Coronavirus rules) if you wanted a cup of tea or coffee you had to phone reception. I didn’t get that seemed to be extra work for them. I just went without a cup of tea. We would visit again but maybe would try and see if we could get a better price.

I've visited The Banff Springs on various occasions, hoping that each time will be better than the last, but always come away feeling disappointed by the food. On this particular occasion, we sat down, and a few minutes later was asked for our drinks order, however we hadn't even been given a drinks menu. I eventually ordered a Cosmopolitan, it came in a large gin glass and tasted nothing like a traditional cosmopolitan.

For food, I ordered a pulled pork burger which sounded lovely on the menu.
However, it came, and it was far from. It was in fact a beef burger, which was very poor quality, and it had a tiny amount of pulled pork on top. Mine came without the cheese, and instead had a rediculous amount of mayo on both sides of the bun which just made it soggy. The bacon and the burger its self was also very oily.
I picked at some of it, and the skinny fries, which were nothing special.
My friend really enjoyed her macaroni, and the setting is nice so the only reason I have rated more than one star.

I won't be reccomending, and won't be back again. There a far better places locally to dine.

Visited recently for an afternoon tea, good table with excellent view of the bay and very clean , standard high tea served but disappointed with the sandwiches which were small doughy rolls with very limited filling , the roast beef filling consisted of a wafer thin slice which was tasteless, the egg filling was scant to say the least , small sausage rolls were excellent as were the assortment of cakes , difficult to get service form staff and had to go to reception to ask for more tea and coffee , it was reasonably good but the more imagination could be used fro the sandwiches and perhaps resort to bread rather than the rolls offered.

The other rather annoying issue was the background music was at a level which was just bearable, I've nothing against music being played but it should be in the background and not slightly overbearing .

Was it worth bringing to the staffs attention ? , as the staff were generally young I don't think they would have noticed.

At £15 a head its not expensive but it could just be slightly better , it wouldn't take much.

We got an itison voucher which gave us a 2 course lunch for 2 for £22 plus a draught soft drink. It was good value for money. The food was very tasty and portion size was just right. Drinks were a bit on the small side. Customer service was ok, but needed to be a bit more attentive, especially when it comes to wanting to pay the bill. It was only because we heard someone else asking that we knew to go to the bar to pay. Overall, good meals and the restaurant has lovely views.

Regrettably the banff springs did not live up to my expections... I rung at 11am to book a table for 2 for afternoon tea. Took 5 attempts for the girl to process the payment (its £5 deposit per person for reservation) she kept getting number wrong. Finally get there for 1pm booking 10mins early young lad Couldnt find reservation we was left standing 10mins.. after eventually going to speak to his manager (instead of looking at sheet of paper bewildering she came very helpful very professional (finally someone professional) was seated by the window stunning views! 25mins sat without any member of staff coming to set table up for afternoon tea (was set for lunch) So started off bad and tainted the experience. Afternoon tea arrived and we was underwhelmed it was nice looked great but taste unfortunately lacked flavour very bland and cakes dry (their advertising photos look 100x better & bigger) strawberry tart the pastry extremely thin and hard. Over all wasnt bad for price we paid with the eat out 50% off had we paid full price would have been disappointed. However restaurant manager Jade was brilliant customer service on point polite and friendly! Mistakes happen someone clearly didnt write reservation down but could have been handled alot quicker! And a few points the afternoon tea could be improved. 1st experience not the greatest.

We went last Xmas Day (2019) after believing the glitzy brochure advertising. What a disappointment, we were booked in on the early sitting. Shown to our table and my son had a full glass of Prosecco knocked over him, accident but not a good start. Next the starters arrived wife and son’s prawn cocktail presented well mine looked like it had been dropped and scooped back on plate. Next failure main course arrives plated, would have expected veg in dishes etc for £69.95 per head.
The plates had the smallest portion of gravy on it, I asked the waitress if we could have a small gravy boat and was told “I’ll have to ask the chef if we can do that, gravy arrives as we have nearly finished our main course. Pudding was alright but to be honest could not get out of the place quick enough. We watched in disbelief as the table opposite which was a booth had a lady arrive in a wheelchair and they were expected to lift her out and get her seated as the wheelchair would not fit in the space available. I wrote a letter of complaint and received an offer of getting my son’s trousers dry cleaned which I declined and also £20 voucher which I reluctantly took as it was all we were getting. Strangely enough 3 days after Xmas loads of restaurant staff jobs advertised. I have put reviews on their own website warning people of the excessive cost for a meal no better than the Brewers Fayre in fact Brewers Fayre do a better Xmas Meal. Funny old thing reviews are removed so putting one on here which cannot be removed. A hotel that trades on its name and glitzy brochures.
We vote with our feet and would all friends and family to do the same.
