Detailed Reviews
Stayed here for a three night break and were pretty impressed. Easy to find on the outskirts of town on the A97 from Huntly and a less than ten minute walk from the town centre.
The hotel is a converted house, which had been built in 1909 and the hotel is being refurbished by apparently new owners. Booking by phone was easy and communication after booking was clear and efficient. The hotel sits in fairly large grounds with lots of guest parking. First impression on arrival was a fresh coat of paint on the outside of the building and a new decking area with tables in front of the reception making the hotel look fresh and welcoming.
Check in was quick and we had a room above the front door, which was small as we had been informed about when booking. The room was spotless but the furniture and fittings were dated, with dark bulky furniture and little room around the furniture. That said, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was also outdated but functional.
We had breakfast on each morning and had dinner once. The food was excellent, with a very good menu and the service was first class on each occasion. Bar service was also efficient and friendly and the reception staff could not do enough to help.
We really enjoyed staying here and were particularly pleased with the quality of the food combined with the high standard of customer service shown by every member of staff that we came into contact with.
It is evident that there is work going on to upgrade this hotel and would be happy to recommend it to anyone looking for a base to explore this part of Aberdeenshire and the Eastern part of the Moray Coast. Handy for dog owners as this hotel is pet friendly.

Lovely Hotel / Restaurant with well appointed rooms and convenient on site bungalow ( sleeps 8 ). With good size lounge and fully equipped kitchen it is ideal for larger groups. With breakfast in the main hotel included and daily room service it was great value. The breakfast was superb as was the dinners available in the hotel restaurant. Well worth a visit. We will definitely be back next year.

Arrived here to meet friends who were up from London and booked for dinner. It was a lovely evening and we all sat outside and enjoyed a beer on the new decked area that looks over immaculately kept gardens. The staff were very accommodating and asked if we would like to eat outside or in. They gave us time to browse the menus and left us to enjoy our catch up and chinwag. More drinks were ordered when they checked ‘if everything was ok’ and to let them know when we were ready to order. All done with Grace and not over powering. When we decided to eat we moved inside and were accommodated no problem and taken to a lovely table for four. We ordered the food which was excellently prepared and hot. Nothing worse than food that is tepid. Again we were asked if we wanted anything else and we ordered more drinks for dinner which arrived quickly and delivered with a positive smile and a a check that our food was ok. All in all we had a great evening at this lovely venue and catch up with friends. Nothing was too much trouble and I would have no hesitation in recommending this venue for a first class experience.

We have been to fife lodge a few times and always have found the service slow but the food very good.
We arrived got seated waited 25 mins just to get our order in waited another 20mims for starter.
Our main arrived about 20 mins after finishing our starter.
After we finished our main dish we waited a while at this point we were just going to get up and pay our bill …no waitresses were on floor to clear our plates all through the front reception talking.
During the time having our food no one came over to ask us if everything was alright which should be a standard customer service at any establishment so that was a bit disappointing.
Your covers as we went were 5 tables and a full team in kitchen as we were told so really no excuse for the time we had waited .
Friendly service and a warm welcome but really need to work on the length of time to wait for food.
This happened the last time my husband and I went we found the service very slow.
We can appreciate everything is cooked fresh and it takes time but if you have a full team in kitchen and there’s no excuse.

+1
Just back from an overnight stay and would highly recommend the Fife Lodge to anyone wanting to stay there. The location is perfect as just up the hill from Banff high street. I don,t often take pictures but did this time as the building and large well maintained gardens were impressive on arrival.
The room we stayed in was a double room which had everything you would wish to need and the decor was well finished and in touch with the age of the building. The breakfast is included in the price and was perfect as you,ll see by in the pics.
A big thankyou to all the staff but a wee shout out to Lorna who looked after us in the evening and to Colin at breakfast time. We know where we will staying everytime we go back up to Banff. Highly recommend this Hotel to anybody reading this, you will not be disappointed. Perfect hotel for a private function as well i,m sure.
Many thanks, Stevie.

Lovely accommodating staff where nothing was to much trouble. They catered for me being vegan and were so helpful. They provided me with plant based milk for the tea in the room, and had a good choice of vegan options for our evening meal and for breakfast - including vegan wine.
The rooms were beautiful as was the rest of the building - lovely calm and stylish decor and immaculate.
We will stay there again if we’re in the area. Highly recommend!

Had a lovely meal with family at the Fife Lodge Hotel tonight. Food and service both excellent. We had Hunters Chicken, Chicken Malibu, Fife Lodge Burger, and Tournedos Rossini for our mains, all cooked to perfection. For Dessert we had Strawberry Pavlova, Hot Marmalade Pudding and Chocolate Bombe, all beautifully presented and delicious. We shall be back very soon as lots more we want to sample on the extensive menu.

Staff were lovely. The restaurant felt a little “fur coat and no knickers”
Food served with white gloves.
Drinks order taken without the wine list being shared for example.
Nothing wrong with the place at all. I would return as the food was nice. I just feel the establishment needs to either step up to silver service or relax a bit and have good grub without the fuss

Had a lovely meal at the Fife lodge tonight. The Cullen skink was lovely and plenty of fish in it. The steak was cooked to perfection and the onion rings were lovely and crispy. There was a very generous helping of scampi too. Linda and her staff very friendly and welcoming. Thoroughly recommend a visit

Really enjoyed our visit to the Fife Lodge hotel. It’s been newly refurbished and the rooms and public areas are very tasteful and relaxing. The lounge has a cosy wood burning stove which was lovely to sit beside with a pre dinner drink. We ate at the hotel on both nights and really enjoyed the food. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful. Really set us up for a day exploring this beautiful area. The staff were unfailingly cheerful and helpful.
Highly recommended.
