Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Was going to a comedy show at the Arbroath theatre, popped into the townhouse hotel for drinks and food, the cocktails were brilliant and had a variety of starters which were also very tasty, really enjoyed the place and will definitely be going back, the staff were very nice too. A big thumbs up 👍

Been here twice before, always been fine no complaints. Seemed fine as usual on arrival, lovely room and friendly service. Unfortunately the lovely staff didn't mention to us that the sex olympics were taking place in the room next to us. The "opening ceremony' began at 11pm and featured at least 2 current Olympic champion shaggers whom i suspect were maybe on performance enhancing substances. The batton was passed over several times and there was maybe even a tag team event on.After a near 2hr marathon session showed no sign of slowing down nor did the wailing which resembled a 1970s Yoko Ono album and was building in both frequency and volume we phoned reception to help. Maybe we should have phoned the police, the fire brigade or even a vet. As no action was taken we decided enough was enough and packed up to head home to Glasgow. Fair enough the staff did offer us another room but we just wanted home at this point. Also i fear the banging headboard could be heard in Dundee. No fault really to the hotel but if the cast of Pornhub are staying its not much cop if you want a sleep.

This hotel is perfectly located in the harbour/high street area, and within an easy 10 minute walk of the station. We received a very warm welcome on our arrival, and given a rundown of the services included etc. The room was fine, we opted for a twin, beds were comfortable, with extra pillows available if required. Bathroom had a choice of bath and shower, with shower gel and towels included. There's a restaurant downstairs, which is handy for breakfast (not included) we had an evening meal there, which was very nice. The staff are lovely, very friendly and helpful. We've booked to stay again in July.

Stayed here for a night in early January. Accommodation was clean, surprisingly spacious with very comfortable bed and good shower. Staff were really welcoming and friendly. We had their fixed price meal and drinks were excellent value. There was a choice of breakfast options all very reasonably priced. We parked on the street outside as it was a Saturday night so no parking restrictions but free car parks are available nearby. Would definitely recommend this accommodation particularly for people who want to stay near Town Centre.

Lovely meal out on New Years Eve. Service was quick even though it was very busy and staff were friendly as usual. The food was so tasty and for a 3 course meal, the price was very reasonable. I will be back soon for my new meal out. Thank you as usual

Just returned from enjoying a Christmas lunch at the Townhouse hotel with two friends, without doubt it was a great meal, served by friendly and professional staff, which only added to the already enjoyable experience. My 3 courses were lovely, Prawn and Salmon cocktail, followed by Turkey and all the trimmings followed by a winter berry crumble and custard were all lovely Well done to Graeme and all his staff

Stranded in Abroath due to Storm Babet. The road was closed and not even able to travel 12 miles home on public transport. Managed to find this very welcoming hotel. Darcy, the young lady who checked us in, was very sympathetic and helpful when we told her we needed a place to wash our clothes as we had nothing to wear. She offered to wash them for us at the premises. Wow!!! The room was lovely. A little cold at first which was corrected with a portable heater once we spoke to the staff. We had dinner at the restaurant. Impressed with the variety of their cocktail menu. We had scampi and chips, steak pie and beef stroganoff. All were served hot and delicious. We often read about bad reviews given to other establishments, but as the consumer, if you do not raise the issue, the hotel or restaurant will not be able to rectify the issue on the spot. Don't wait till after to give them a bad review unless you have spoken to them, but they did nothing.

We can recommend staying at the Townhouse Hotel when staying in Arbroath. the staff are wonderful and there is a lift to the rooms, no lugging cases upstairs. The Hotel is within easy walking distance of everything you would want to see. The food is lovely and reasonably priced.
