Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My mum and I stayed here for two nights in mid July - it was absolutely lovely. Our room was great, it was clean with great facilities (amazing shower, well equipped tea tray and very generous hamper of local drinks and snacks). The breakfast was amazing, the best we have had on our 8 day trip by far - simple but high quality and very thoughtfully done. We also loved the resident pets who were no trouble whatsoever and extremely cute! We are SO glad we stayed here rather than a hotel nearby, it was better value and much more comfortable too. 100% recommend. Thanks to the hosts for a lovely stay!

Lovely dog, cute cat, great welcome basket. Lovely selection of top notch teas and coffees. Breakfast was absolutely the best I’ve ever had, all locally sourced and something to suit everyone. Can’t believe the service from this little B&B.

I stayed here 1 night by myself for a recent work trip, Gordon was so welcoming from the start (and so was slippers the cutest cat). I was shown to my room which was lovely with some treats left complimentary also. Everything was immaculate, cosy and homely. The room was great with a really good size en suite and shampoo etc provided. The breakfast in the morning was cooked fresh and delicious, everything has been thought of. Would really recommend this place for anyone stopping in Montrose. Thank you for a great stay. Thanks, Jen.

Stayed in the Bamse for almost 4 weeks and cannot speak highly enough of the place. Extremely clean rooms w/ great facilities and kind extras (coffee station w/ locally sourced bakery goods on arrival). Also the friendliest hosts you'll meet. Nothing was too much to ask for Gordon and Euan. Very kind blokes who cooked beautiful meals for all dietary requirements. Would recommend to anyone who is visiting Montrose for any reason.

I was here for three nights to visit family. Quiet, clean and friendly owner. Parking is possible on street outside for offloading etc and just across the road is a safe free car park. Most impressed with the complimentary welcome pack.

Wonderful B&B in Montrose. Great base for our four day family trip to Scotland. The B&B was clean and had everything we needed. The host was brilliant and the breakfast was amazing and huge portions. The food was locally sourced rather than your usual Tesco job lot. We had a wonderful little basket welcome gift with a few local treats such as lemonade, ginger ale, strawberries and biscuits. All the little touches in the room also made a difference, nice coffee, funny toilet roll and very comfy bed! Wifi and TV available in the rooms. There are 5 of us and we had the whole floor to ourselves and it was enough space and very comfortable and safe.

Such a lovely wee bnb. It's in a very convenient spot being very close to the town centre. The front garden is just gorgeous with a mosaic of lovely colourful flowers. My room was very sweet and cosy, with a very comfy bed (and brushed cotton covers), plenty of storage and spacious bathroom with shower. There were some refreshments laid out for my arrival, some fresh berries and without a doubt the best shortbread biscuits I've ever had. There were several different choices of tea and coffee, with both regular milk and oat milk - I appreciate the inclusivity. The room had a tv and sky package so I could enjoy watching Wimbledon as I wound down for the evening. The team were incredibly polite and eager to help throughout, and their pets were adorable and incredibly well-natured and mannered. I would highly recommend Bamse B&B to anyone looking for a relaxing and comfortable wee place to stay.
