I had recently returned from an unexpected business trip & had planned an escape back to Carradale. My wife & I used to live here so it was amazing to return to see old friends & haunts we knew & loved. We were made very welcome by Steve & Morrice who run “Carradales”. We had an amazing evening catching up with old friends who do seem like family more than anything else. All to soon it was time for us to leave & return to the Covid ratrace however you can be sure we are already planning our next “Escape” !!. Anyone who is looking to escape the current nightmare we are all enduring could not make a better choice than time spent at “ Carradales” however short it may have to be. Thanks again & we will be back as soon as we can. Regards Dave & Karen.
This place was presumably still The Manse the previous time we were in Carradale in the mid-1980s. But Carradale is my favourite beach in the whole wide world, so we had a return visit on the bucket list and managed two beach walks in spite of the weather. (As previously, the beach was virtually deserted.) Lockdown has obviously not been an easy time for front-of-house Maurice and chef Steve, but they are certainly making the most of being open again. They made us extremely welcome and we felt thoroughly pampered during our two-day stay. The setting is delightful, our room was very comfortable and the view charming. (Somehow, you don't mind if it rains here, though it's nice when it stops.) Steve is a fine and imaginative cook, though his portions tend to be on the generous side for our appetites. There was always a good choice, which we expanded by sharing starters and main courses. One night we even managed dessert. Maurice introduced us to Loch Fyne beers, which I found most agreeable, and the wine list, though short, offers something for most palates at reasonable prices. But it's not just about the food and drink or the comfort of the bedrooms: it's also the thought that has clearly gone into the public areas of Carradales that combined to make us feel thoroughly welcome. We hope to return – we have not crossed it off the bucket list, not least because we had one warm and sunny afternoon, which is a bit of a hen's tooth in Kintyre. What's more, we saw a pair of golden eagles on our way there.…
Managed to get a last minute room here when our ferry to Arran got cancelled because of a storm. These two lovely, fun, kind gents couldn’t do enough for me and my friend! From making us a breakfast at 5.45! Which was delicious! To making us feel super welcome from the minute we arrived. Their food is amazing! The lounge area was the perfect place to chill sampling some of their wines and Gins. We also found room for the tastiest sundae ever! Our bed was unbelievably comfy (ground floor) and we had a massive free standing bath tub, which was perfect before our early start trying to get over to arran the next day. Highly recommend Staying here - couldn’t fault it! Thanks!
This is no ordinary B&B...this is an M&S ( Maurice & Steve) B&B. Everything from the welcoming hospitality, spotless & clean bedrooms to delicious breakfast’s and evening meals freshly prepared from Steve’s experiences & professional kitchen. Maurice looks after front of house in a friendly & hospitable manner. We had a wonderful few day’s stay at Carradale’s. This lovely B&B is well deserving of it’s 5 star rating in Carradale village. Lots of lovely walks, beach and sightseeing opportunities within the area too. We look forward to returning in the near future. A huge thanks to Maurice & Steve for their warm hospitality at the fabulous Carradale’s.
Due to Covid 19 my son and his new wife were unable to have the wedding they had originally planned, a suggestion by my son's mother in law to have the wedding complete with ceremony at Carradales was an excellent choice. We arrived on the Friday evening and left on the Monday, during that time Steve and Maurice were exceptional hosts, making us all feel at home and ensuring that we all had a lovely time, nothing was too much trouble and they ensured that everything was in place on the Saturday for the ceremony and the wedding breakfast, so it all passed without a hitch, giving my son and his new wife a lovely wedding day to remember The accommodation is lovely, set to a high standard, big comfy beds and all that you need with a few extras thrown in, robes and slippers are provided and there were flowers also in the room which provided a nice welcoming touch All the food was prepared by Steve and the quality was second to none, it was excellent, tasty and well presented. Maurice and Steve have put in lot of hard work to make this a successful luxury 5 star guest house and they have certainly achieved that, I would certainly recommend staying there to anyone who is visiting the areas Hopefully we may get to go back there ourselves, we wish Maurice and Steve all the best Carol and Jeff…
