Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Cathie and David left me a bottle of Prosecco when they found out it was my birthday, in the morning when it was only us staying we asked just for a small spread for breakfast, Cathie covered two tables with absolutely delicious food and placed them next to our table and the room we were in was amazing. The place is meticulously clean and decorated with class, can’t recommend this place highly enough Cathie and David are the perfect hosts, we have been there 3 times now and will continue to visit.

Once again myself and Sanders visited The Old Rectory and once again it was absolutely amazing, the room was immaculate and the breakfast spread that Cathie and David provide was up to their unbelievable high standards, they even ensured Sanders had a birthday cake in place as it was his 60th. The hospitality shown is above and beyond and we will certainly return as soon as possible because it is quite simply the best B&B in Inveraray.

We decided to have an overnight in Inverary on our way to Glasgow. This establishment was a listed building looking over the loch. Parking is available at the rear of the property. Our room overlooked the loch, spotless and very spacious, our en-suite had a stand-alone bath with shower attachment which suited our needs( I believe other rooms have different bathroom setups) shower cubicle etc . I believe the proprietors are still in the process of renovating other rooms, a beautiful work in progress. The breakfast on offer was fantastic, amazing continental offerings (fish, meats, cheese) also a Scottish hot breakfast too if you want, Cathie the owner was very accommodating and very friendly., thanks for the warm welcome.

We came by The Old Rectory by chance, and I'm so glad we did, what a beautiful house, Cathie and David were most welcoming. Cathie showed us our room, which was spotless and had everything we could need, the bathroom was large which a fantastic shower. The bed was very comfy and we had a view of the Loch. In the morning the choice of breakfast was amazing, also a cooked option was offered which my husband opted for, I was happy and impressed with the continental options. Location is also fab, just a 5 min walk along to town centre. The Old Rectory is where I want to stay each time I visit Inveraray.

The value offered by the rooms is truly outstanding. Kathy and David are wonderful hosts, and we even had the delightful surprise of running into them at the local pub. The spacious bathroom features an elegant sunken jacuzzi bath – a delightful surprise. Breakfast boasts a generous spread, complete with cooked options. Enjoy a breathtaking, uninterrupted view of the loch right from your window; you can’t get any closer to the water. The house itself is beautifully designed and maintained. Thank you for the warm hospitality and for having us. I’d wholeheartedly recommend this place to all my friends and family.

First impressions were it was extremely tastefully decorated and the welcome was informative and friendly. David and Cathy were the perfect hosts, friendly, efficient and professional. When we were taken to our room, our jaws dropped, sunken bath, walk in shower and stunning views across loch Fyne. Room was meticulously clean as was the whole hotel. Breakfast was a continental spread fit for royalty but a cooked option was available all ingredients I sampled were delicious and of the highest quality. Fully recommend a stay here, it is an exceptional venue with wonderful hosts.

We had a great stay at the Old Rectory. It's a beautiful, very large, old home right on the main drag in town. We enjoyed our HUGE bathroom while we stayed here. The host was lovely and very accommodating. As no one else was staying there it felt a little empty and quiet. The views over the loch in the morning were gorgeous.

So glad you enjoyed your stay robin - sorry it felt empty and quiet but at that time of year the busiest places are the hotels - the wee places are quieter but we hope we still made your stay memorable

The Old Rectory is very close to the town with parking at the rear of the building. The owners are great, spot on. Building redecorated a few years ago and seems fresh, clean and well thought out. Breakfast was lovely, fab choice of continental and cooked to order. Would definitely go back. The only negatives are the stairs are quite steep and the 2nd floor rooms could be a challenge for the elderly or less mobile. The sunken bath a challenge to get in and out, especially for the elderly as there are no handrails.
