We had a wonderful 10-day stay here on one of the fully serviced caravan pitches with our spaniel. It is a delightful site - quiet atmosphere, friendly staff, and within easy walking distance of a glorious beach in a sheltered bay. It is near to an excellent food shop and a very useful camping/caraven store. The pitches are generous and the loos and showers are modern and immaculately clean. I have one tiny gripe about otherwise beautifully designed facilities: the chemical disposal point is eccentric to say the least - a plain old flushless, splash-prone loo installed in its own stylish drystone plinth! But I would be really reluctant to downgrade a really lovely site for this small oddity. And there was a real bonus that will probably surprise any regular visitor to the west coast. We had unbroken dry, often brilliantly sunny weather every day except one. Midges are usually a rarity at this time of year but we did not see a single beastie. We loved it and will gladly come back.…
We stayed in the top-of-the-range Argyll Pod. It was warm and had everything required for a nice stay. All mod cons, excellent shower, hot tub ready for us arriving. Fantastic weather made the stay very enjoyable, and we stayed out around the firepit after dark. If you’re visiting though, take some insect repellent as you’ll need it. Minor issues…….deck slippery around the hot tub when wet, and a teapot would have been handy. Unfortunately I didn’t sleep well, but more down to me than the site, which was peaceful and quiet. No dining facilities on site, but fish and chips at Tralee Bay, their sister site, and Hawthorns a couple of crofts down. Plenty eateries in and on the way to Oban.
Super, but all too brief visit. We had never tried glamping before, so a one night stay as a taster, by far exceeded my expectations. Stayed in a Argyll pod 7. What a super appointed mini house, bedroom, couch, kitchenette, bathroom. Outdoor decking area with a hot tub. Perfect, unexpected weather. Fire pit/Bbq. Will need to come back and have a longer stay.
Nice and quiet site. It is close to the shore and we had a lovely walk. The site offers a variety of experiences including caravan/camper space; camping and cabins. We were only there for an overnight so did not really get a chance to look around. I used the shower/toilets and found them to be clean and fairly warm. There does not seem to be any shop or catering onsite. However I don’t necessarily see this as a weakness. The main thing was the feeling of peace and rest.
We just had 2 nights in the Argyll pod, and loved it. The pod is really well designed and furnished. It's really spacious, cosy and comfortable. The kitchen has just about anything you could possibly need too. They've thought of everything and the standard is really high. We didn't get the text with our code to access our key, so had to call and wait a little bit for that when we'd arrived, but it was sorted. The member of staff we spoke to a couple of times was also extremely helpful. We had one slight issue that he resolved immediately, was very apologetic and then delivered a bottle of Prosecco, which was much appreciated. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the hot tub. After the jets had been on for a little while, the water was just covered in floaters, which looked really unpleasant and meant we didn't really want to sit in it, which was really disappointing, so perhaps that hot tub needs an especially good clean (Argyll 8). Overall though, we really enjoyed our stay and we'd definitely come back.…
This is our second visit to Highfield holidays. We stayed in the highlander pod this time around for 4 nights from 30th Dec to 1st Jan (Argyll on our first visit). The owners had left us chocolates and prosecco which I thought was a lovely touch =) The pod was absolutely spotless and although smaller than the Argyll had absolutely everything we needed and was so cosy at night. The only thing I would suggest is maybe thinking of some type of canopy for over the hot tub for those rainy days but this in no way stopped us enjoying it. My partner couldnt have cared less whether it was raining or not he still enjoyed his frequent dips! We will of course be back to visit for a third time...I absolutely love coming here and relaxing away from everything. You really cant fault the site, the pods or the owners - thanks for having us =)…
This was so relaxing and cosy 10/10th would recommend!! Very sad couldn't stay for longer and see around, pods were spread out perfectly really great atmosphere and the lighting was lovely too shams there were no tea bags in room Thanks alot
Stayed in safari tent 14, the tents themselves are cute the insides are fine and the outside area is pleasing. Very easy to get keys. The tent was freezing on the first night, I presume the heating must have only been put on earlier in the day and hadn’t kicked in properly. The second day the tent was nice and cosy but that first night was pretty rough. The hot tub was disgusting. I actually called and asked for it to be cleaned which I’m not sure it was as the next time I used it, after the jets had been on, there was loads floating around again in the water which quite frankly reminded me of flakes of dead skin. There was no open fire pit/bbq as described, there was a small stove which was rusty and filled with rain water. The tent was clean although there was a spider, probably to be expected in a tent though to be honest. The shower was big and the water warm. Honestly, if the hot tub had have been clean and I had booked a stay in summer when it would have been warmer or if the heating had been put on earlier I would have enjoyed it more, I believe. As it is I feel the amount of money charged was immensely over priced for the experience I had. Communication from admin team was second to none though.…
Second stay here, previous one was 4/5 years ago possibly before all the new pods and tents had been built and it was as good as we remember. The Highlander pet friendly pod was perfect, spotlessly clean and we would return again in a second. Our pup loved his first holiday and we enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub child free in what seems like forever. I would like to add the thoughtful email which was sent to us after our stay in thanking us for how clean and tidy we left the pod was greatly appreciated but also at the same time im baffled as to why people would not leave the accommodation in the way in which they found in, clean and tidy. We will be back again. Thank you.
We have just returned from Highfield and stayed in the Highlander Pod……Wow factor from arrival. We were slightly early and drove up to get our bearings but final checks were just being completed so we were able to get in and unpacked. The site is lovely, clean and quiet. The pod was immaculate and has everything you need for your stay as well as guides and recommendations of what is nearby. The beach which is just over 5 minutes across the road is lovely. All staff we came across were friendly and helpful. The fairy lights and mood lighting around the pod entrance were a special touch! We are already planning our return 😍.
