Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went to celebrate my Wife's Birthday and had been looking forward to our stay. It didn't disappoint. We had room 15 which had the most amazing panoramic view of the bay. The room was well appointed, spotlessly clean and had an incredibly comfortable bed. Due to the fluctuations in the weather we definitely got to test out both the heating and cooling of the AC. The bathroom was lovely and had a great drench shower. Nice touches included a Haden kettle which boiled incredibly quickly. No dealys in cups of tea. Porcini, the restuarant, is bright and intimate and the food was first class. The Eggs Benedict served at breakfast were a particular delight as was the Cheesecake. I've had a lot of cheesecake in my time and it was the best I have ever had. Best of all were the staff. Friendly, helpful and not over bearing. Can't wait to go back.

This is an excellent and well run hotel. The staff are friendly and efficient and the food excellent. The bedroom very well appointed. Also very helpful to the disabled member of our party. I strongly recommend this hotel on all fronts. Finally the view to the Isles is entrancing; a great sunset capped it all.

This hotel is out of this world. So tastefully decorated mixing old with new, the pictures do not do it any justice Every single member of staff we encountered was first class. Karina was amazing. Cocktails were absolutely delicious. As for the food....having travelled extensively with business, I have eaten in many a nice restaurant but this one came out tops. Everything was so fresh and cooked to perfection with just the right amount of choice. Honestly, I would recommend this hotel to anyone! We have booked to come again and are already very much looking forward to it.

Went for dinner whilst staying at No. 26 their sister hotel. It was delicious and in a beautiful setting, the frozen grapes were a nice palate cleanser too. Loved the fillet steak, although the pancetta around the crust was a little detracting from the flavour. Still nothing to complain about at all - just a personal preference - - we all had a lovely chilled evening and the staff were so friendly - will be back.

This is the first time we have stayed at No 17 and we planning our return! We were greeted by enthusiastic and lovely staff that made us feel so welcome and this care continued for our entire stay. Well looked after in a gorgeous place. Food and ambience excellent and a beautifully decorated room to stay in.

Second visit to this fabulous establishment. This boutique hotel has stunning views to the sound of Kerrera. A stone throw from Oban harbour, which has trips to various many of the islands. Rooms are furnished to a very high standard ,plush and luxurious with a lot of thought put into your comfort. The food is simply delicious but the icing on the cake is the staff who can’t do enough to make your stay enjoyable. Will definitely be back highly recommend the eggs Benedict first class.

We stayed two nights at No 17 The Promenade in room 5. It was very small and the one chair was too low for us to sit on. The decor in the room was very dark as is the decor throughout the hotel. It is marketed as a boutique hotel so this explains the decor, my wife told me. It wasn’t to my liking but my wife thought it was nice. Room 5 had one small window and got cold overnight. The lounge furniture wasn’t very comfortable and not the sort of place you could sit for a long time. It also doubled as an overflow for the restaurant. The car park is also very small and we were panicking every time we went out that we wouldn’t be able to park on the hotel grounds when we returned. In fact on the second night we parked in the space reserved for an electric vehicle, and luckily we were not asked to move. We ate dinner in the hotel on the first night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Breakfast on the first morning was lovely, eggs Benedict cooked excellently. Unfortunately on the second morning the full Scottish breakfast had been cooked a while so the fried eggs were a bit rubbery. Service at the hotel was very good at all times. We enjoyed our stay at No 17 but I doubt if we will return.

Staff were great from arrival through to us leaving, always polite, friendly and helpful. Food was great and hotel itself was excellent. Views from lounge and restaurant were superb and the outside area must be great in summer. Will be back

An absolutely stunning hotel with exceptionally friendly staff. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by very courteous and helpful staff who escorted us to our room and provided an overview of the facilities available. The entire hotel is immaculately decorated and spotlessly clean. The Porcini restaurant offered a wide range of Italian based food and drink on its menu and our chosen dishes were well presented and timed to perfection. Nothing was a problem to the waiting staff who were very attentive without being overpowering. I would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning in the near future.
