Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Booked a spa break through spa seekers. Kept my expectations low as a friend mentioned they had stayed before and weren't overly impressed. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised as we were given an upgrade. The reception team was so welcoming and made us feel very relaxed. We had a lovely chat about holidays in Salobrena, Spain, with the friendly Spanish waitress. Our spa experience was just as good , very professional service from Kimberley across Sat and Sun. We felt very looked after. We booked the thermal suite, which was just brilliant, sitting in a hot tub, in the dark on 2nd Feb outside overlooking the bay, just brilliant. I really like that it's private use. We were so relaxed after the treatments we decided to book room service. This arrived very soon after we ordered and was very good. The night porter was also friendly and helpful when my husband went down to order from the bar. All in all, it was a wonderful relaxing experience, and I would definitely visit again.

We booked one of the double standard rooms for a weekend visit to the town. The welcome was warm and very friendly. Parking is not an issue as some have alluded to. Drop your bags at the door and park for free behind the cathedral literally 2 minutes walk away. The room was very well appointed and a great comfy bed. Given the price we paid for a room only basis, I think this hotel represents great value for money. Yes, you can save £20 a night by staying elsewhere at a lower class hotel but you will be loosing so much in the quality Oban Bay Hotel gives you. We made the mistake of not pre-booming the spa and treatments before our visit, they were fully booked. Albeit the spa was not part of our visit, we did bring some shorts on the off chance we’d use it. Breakfast was our only slight disappointment I’d say. We had breakfast on the first morning. I ordered the full Scottish, which whilst it was tasty, it wasn’t worth remotely the £18 charged. My wife ordered fruit and yoghurt which never arrived….reception did rectify this charge when we checked out. Personally I’d (as we did on the second morning) wall 5 mins into town and get breakfast at one of the many cafes for around 1/3 of the price of the hotel. All in all, a great hotel in a nice and quiet position with fantastic views and very good rooms. We would and will stay again. Tips: pre-book the spa if you want to use it. Try for a top floor room (I think we had a herd of elephants above us) and try breakfast in town.

We booked the girls spa break as a Christmas present for me and my mum. We had a fabulous welcome and our room was lovely, comfy bed and nice bathroom, absolutely ideal. We had booked extra treatments and both our therapists, both call nikki, we're exceptional, such lovely massage and foot treatment and so knowledgeable about the products. We then had our thermal experience which was stunning, the outdoor hot tub overlooking the bay was gorgeous at twilight and we had knocked it off as the weather was so mild. Dinner was lovely in fact we couldn't finish it as portions were so vast. Abby and Dana helped us check out and had been so helpful throughout our stay directing us to the free parking two mins walk away. All in a all a great stay and such a fabulous deal for the price, cannot fault.

Really enjoyed my stay. Facilities were very nice but the staff were the standout feature. Greeted on my arrival by Abby who was very friendly and courteous, I opted for the thermal experience and Gigi (forgive me for the spelling) was brilliant, I think she was more excited for me than I was! Really added to the experience made me feel like I was the only guest. Breakfast was one of the best I've had at a restaurant but again it would have been tarnished by poor service and I wasn't disappointed here too. Laszlo was charming and professional.

The hotel has a great atmosphere and traditional Scottish decor. We were lucky to have received an upgrade from standard room to one of the suites overlooking the bay. Very nice touch. The sleep was comfortable enough and I couldn't fault the breakfast. The only issue I believe the hotel has is parking including drop off. There are perhaps 6 spaces to the rear of the hotel, but it is exceptionally tight. Drop off is quite poor with abandoned cars. There is a nearby carpark 2/3 minutes away which you can use for free. We had our electric vehicle and the hotel does have two spaces for charging. However, both spaces were occupied by non-electric vehicles which made it difficult to get a charge in the car.

We spent 3 days at the Oban Bay Hotel for the 3 day New Year package. Again, we had an exceptional stay, from arriving and made to feel so welcome. It was so good seeing familiar members of staff who were delighted to see us again. Our room was, as usual, up to its high standard, no complaints there. The food was cooked to perfection 5* . All the staff can’t do enough to keep the customers happy. New Year’s Eve celebrations were first class which ended with a young Piper bringing in the New Year , the the Manager, Marc Gardiner, along with the staff, delivered haggis ,tatties and neeps before we retired to bed. While we were there I had my usual spa treatment, which again, was 5*,. Overall, a wonderful happy experience which will be repeated next New Year if not before. What stood out most was that all the staff were happy, from the Manager to everyone, that was down to Teamwork. Thank you again to all the wonderful staff and see you soon. Dave and Yvonne Munro 😀😀

Currently on holidays from Australia and booked a hot stone massage with the Oban Bay Hotel. Spoke with Kimberley on the phone and on the day Kimberley was really great with taking the time to find out about my medical history and due to having cancer a few years ago and having had my lymph nodes out she was very knowledgeable around the types of treatment I could have and this was very informative and the hot stone massage was so relaxing and I may of even nearly drifted in to a sleep it was incredible!

The rooms were perfect. Pillows were the softest. The shower was so refreshing. The staff were very friendly. The view alone is beautiful. The only thing that was kind of okay to me was the breakfast and its options. If you’re staying in Oban I’d recommend this hotel.

Myself, my husband & Labrador visited this hotel for 2 nights from 2nd - 4th Jan and would highly recommend. The staff were so friendly & helpful and very welcoming. They gave our Labrador lots of fuss and a sausage for breakfast, which was lovely. The rooms were very clean & comfortable. The food at the restaurant was lovely. We had a great experience and would highly recommend!
