Wow, what a discovery! We have just spent a week in Scotland and our final night spent in Greystones, Oban was the undoubted highlight. From the moment we received a text message sent from Archie the proprietor to tell us our room was ready ahead of the scheduled check-in time, we knew we were in good hands.

The house has a definite wow factor. We were staying in a ground floor room at the front of the house with a view up onto McCaig’s Tower and a partial view of the harbour. The room was large, spotlessly clean and had a great bathroom. Soon after our arrival Archie arrived with fresh milk for tea (a welcome change to those packets of UHT milk) and freshly baked banana and chocolate chip muffins which were wonderful.

Breakfast was fantastic. Served in a beautiful dining room with an amazing view, we loved that everything was fresh and proper. Knobs of real butter, fresh strawberries, nothing coming from packets. Our host was friendly without suffocating us with attention so we had peace to enjoy a leisurely breakfast.

The price we paid for a night in Greystones pretty much compared with the price we were being quoted for a well-known chain hotel. The difference between Greystones and a chain hotel was incredible. We couldn’t recommend this place enough and plan to return in the future.

From the moment we pulled into the driveway, the breath taking views of Oban and over to the nearby islands captured our attention.

We were then welcomed by Mo and Archie who gave us the history of the building and significance of the spot. The B&B is a very grand building with beautiful art and finishings throughout.

Once we were shown to our room, it really does not get better than this. The room was stunning and spacious, the views were even better from the 1st floor. The other bonus was a great shower (we had just come off the ferry from doing a Munro so this was a massive bonus for us!).

The location of the B&B is a short walk to all restaurants and pubs, but you can also swing up the hill to visit McCaigs Tower (which we did as the sun dipped).

In the morning the breakfast was truly delicious, again with the breakfast room offering great views over to Mull. A full Scottish breakfast and a generous cafetiere of lovely coffee (again a big bonus after an action packed few days).

Visiting Greystones was the perfect cherry on top after a very adventurous week. It provides an exceptional experience with wonderfully warm and welcoming hosts.

Would highly recommend.

We loved our stay here!

From the warm welcome we received at the start of our trip, little home-baked treats left in our room on arrival, to the cheeky lift to the station at the end, it felt like Mo & Archie went above and beyond in every way!

The building itself is stunning, we stayed in the turret suite which was bright, airy, comfortable and spotless.

Breakfast was served in the beautiful high ceiling dining room, with so much to choose from. We had heard of Archie’s famous omelettes so had to try - did not disappoint! (recommend circling chilli!)

We would definitely return.

Absolutely loved staying here. Greystones is well located within easy distance of the harbour and central Oban. It it a seriously impressive house that has been sympathetically converted into a luxury b&b. We stayed for two nights in the turret room. The room is extremely well proportioned and had a separate seating area where you could sit, relax and enjoy the spectacular views. Breakfast was wonderful with a great selection of options and there were some lovely touches like fresh strawberries and the option of cheese platter for non-meat eaters. Couldn’t fault it. Amazing place.

We arrived a little early but no problem as our room was ready . Nice welcome from Archie , the other half of the terrific team . Our bedroom was in the turret with the most amazing view of the harbour and islands . The room was well equipped with refreshments , kettle etc . Nice touch of lovely brownies to enjoy with a tea and coffee.
Lovely dressing gowns supplied after a dip in the fantastic bath . The shower has good pressure and the water was warm at any time of day .
The bed was very comfortable and slept very well over our two night stay . The breakfasts were the best we have ever had and we got to meet Mo , the other half of team . So friendly and efficient.
Strawberries and brambles a lovely touch to savour waiting for our starter . Good choice of courses . Highly recommend the granola followed by the full breakfast, toast , orange juice and coffee . This set us up for the day ahead . No requirement for lunch except of course a cake and drink later on .
So glad I stumbled across this boutique B&B on trip advisor and we will definitely be back ,making sure we book the turret room .

We stayed in the Turret Suite for a Saturday and Sunday evening. As Americans just attempting to get accustomed to new surroundings in our first time leaving the country, we were a bit intimidated. Greystones was the perfect place to relax, with a large, comfortable bed, a power strip with tons of USB charging ports, and great Wifi that allowed us to catch up on work as we traveled, and to charge our many devices, an essential need for remote workers who are expected to work during vacation. The bathroom was beautiful and spacious, and breakfast was a fun adventure trying delicious new food that accommodated both the adventurous eater and the picky eater. As someone who is used to abundant coffee and water, I was well cared-for, and so grateful to have such good coffee at breakfast. Recommendations for local restaurants and bars were greatly appreciated, and the linens were of great quality. Little extra touches like the afternoon snack and the availability of scotch and sherry for nightcaps made for a relaxing addition when we had a night in catching up on work obligations. I look forward to our return!

Booked through booking.com and check in was confirmed as 4pm but got text about 2pm saying our room was ready for us (great start)😁

Never arrived until after 5pm but was welcomed very quickly, shown around and given the key to our room (room 4). The view out the window as you walk in is spectacular 😍 and the room it self is bright and clean.

Amazing night sleep as the bed was very comfy and such a powerful shower - just what you need to start the day. Breakfast was arranged for 9am and the whiskey porridge was strong but delicious. Fruit juice offered, strawberries and wee pots of jam sitting to go on your toast.

Lovely and attentive owners....cannot recommend Greystones enough and will be returning soon

The view when you walk into the turret room was just absolutely utterly breathtaking. The room itself is spacious, clean and modern. This was our home for two nights. Definitely the best room in the house. And seriously did I mention the view!

Got a text from Archie informing us that the room is ready around 130pm ish. What a great start. The instructions to the hotel was perfect and it was a warm welcome from Archie himself. Time for a cuppa and what a great surprise to find some exceedingly good brownies.

Bed was so comfy along with the sea air mean we had great sleep! Breakfast was delicious and we got to meet Mo herself. Sweet juicy strawberries adored the table and the granola crannachan I asked for was a work of art! Hubby of coz had the de constructed version. I would definitely recommend the breakfast grill and the omelette. Both cooked to perfection.

Came back the next day having been out in the rain to some delightful banana and choc chips muffin. Again exceedingly good cake.

This is a beautiful baronial house, full of characters and hosted by two warm and welcoming people. If you can splash out go for the turret room. Definitely well worth the stay. Opening the blinds first thing in the morning and closing the blinds after sunset were definitely great memories to treasure.

Mo and Archie couldn’t be more accommodating then they were with my family. We took up 3 rooms in the house for three days and nights.

My wife and I stayed in a wonderful room(3), turret king room. Well appointed with a lovely sitting area and oversized bathroom. My young adult children stayed in other rooms that were just as comfortable.

Before we even arrived, there was good communication between Archie and me about arrival and what to expect. He even contacted us to see if we wanted to check in early on our day of arrival. We were met in the foyer by Archie who showed us around and gave us our keys.

Breakfast the next morning was in a spacious dining room with fantastic views of Oban Harbor and beyond. Mo and Archie prepared a tasty 3 course breakfast to specifications. The whole family was extremely satisfied. There was certainly no need to even have lunch after this delightful and filling meal.

In conclusion, I have no problem suggesting that if Oban is in your travel plans, then staying at Greystones is a must!!!

My husband and I had a relaxing few days here in Greystones. The hosts Archie and Mo really looked after us, with a fantastic breakfast and giving us lots of information of what to see and do in and around Oban. Our room, Sea View Turret suite was very special, so comfortable with views over the harbour. Excellent place to stay.
