Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our time in Oban was one of the highlights of our travels in Scotland, and staying with Jacintha and Gerard at Elderslie Guest House helped make it so! We had that wonderful experience of feeling like guests and friends while staying with our caring, friendly, and engaging hosts, while breakfasts provided an opportunity to chat with other international visitors. Their home is situated in a lovely, quiet area of Oban that provided us easy walking access (one mile) to downtown, a short boat ride to the the island of Kerrera, and access to beautiful Dunollie Wood. We were so glad we stayed in Oban for three days and could return each evening to their welcoming home. Thank you, Jacintha and Gerard!

This is our 2nd time of staying here but this time we took my mother in law and apart from not wanting to leave the stay was absolutely perfect. The couple who own and run Elderslie are amazing, always there if you need anything (which you never do because they have everything covered), the view from the property is gorgeous, 10 - 15 mins walk into the town centre is fabulous with scenery ❤️ would highly recommend anyone wanting to visit Oban to stay at Elderslie xx

Excellent wee gem of a guesthouse. Every detail was covered from a hot water bottle (if needed) to packed lunch at 5am. Nothing too much trouble for the friendly and helpful owner. Will definitely return to this wonderful little place.

A friend and I stayed for three nights. Rooms were lovely and warm, very well equipped with nice touches. Gerard and Jacintha could not have done more for us. Breakfast was superb and their knowledge of the area could not be faulted. They went above and beyond. Well worth a visit. Sarah and Tracey

A very nice house with an attractive garden, wonderful people, and a decent breakfast. Couldn’t have asked for more, felt safe parking the bike up as it’s hidden off the main road slightly. Soft bed and good shower, all I needed on my way back down from the NC500.

Sometimes you love a stay somewhere because of the people you meet sometimes for the place itself. In this case it's a combination of both. A fine host in a beautiful house on an even better surrounding. The garden is magnificent, the room was fine.

Stayed over night in the Elderslie Guest House in Oban on way up to Mull. Found it to be an exceptional bed and breakfast destination. The room was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The decoration and furnishings were all of a very high standard. The size of the room Was more of a suite size with a seating area to relax in with a cup of tea. Breakfast offered a good choice of continental items with choice of cereals, yoghurt and pastries. Looking forward to going back on return to home. Would highly recommend.

Owners Jacintha and Gerard were friendly and welcoming, directed us where to park and showed us to the room, which was nicely decorated with everything you needed for a short break. Had a garden view which was lovely in the sunshine. Only a 20 min walk into town or slightly longer if you took the path down behind it to the ferry terminal but also had a bus stop nearby. It was great to just leave the car and be able to walk to the ferry for Mull and the Distillery, lots of good restaurants/bars in town. Continental breakfast had a good selection, all you need to start your day. Location was quiet, bed comfortable, would highly recommend.

My stay at elderslie was better than i could wish for. The welcome I received from the family was so warm and welcoming. I was a solo traveler and I felt so comfortable and at ease. The rooms were gorgeous, fresh, clean and extremely comfortable. I stayed 3 nights in total either side of my trip to the Isle of Coll. The guest house has a lovely walking route right into Oban where you can see the sights, eat, drink and shop. The ferry was very convenient. jacintha and Gerard were kind enough to allow me to leave my car safely parked up while I was on the Isle of Coll for the week. The breakfast was spot on with a beautiful view while eating. Jacintha even kindly warmed up some food I had brought with me for my evening meal. Nothing was to much. I would definitely stay again.
