Recently stayed for one night while officiating on a car rally in the area. Easy access of the main A7 butb set far enough back not too be noisy. Nice en suite room spotlessly clean, comfortable bed, fresh towels etc. Wifi, tea making facilities, Friendly owners, Needed an early start so did not have breakfast, but as I was leaving they were cooking for other guests and it smelt nice, Will stay again if looking for accommodation in the area.
On a recent business trip to the area I enjoyed a very comfortable stay and a great welcome at Oakwood House. Decent sized room, good bed and all very clean. Very helpful hosts - Margaret was happy to get various papers printed off for me, and even posted back the pair of trousers I'd left behind which was much appreciated. It's not quite as much 'out in the country' as I'd expected, but there was a very pretty park to walk in just opposite, and the centre of the town is very quaint. Would happily return
We arrived in Hawick at the end of a long day of driving and stopped by the Visitors Information Centre to inquire about a place to spend the night. The helpful gentleman working the counter asked what price range we had in mind and suggested a couple of options. We settled on Oakwood House and he called over to make arrangements. When we arrived we were greeted warmly by Margaret and she showed us our room. The room was very clean and had lovely views of gardens, the bowling Green, and heritage buildings. She offered a couple of restautrant suggestions but they were both very popular so we tried the Laughing Buddha Chinese Restaurant and we were very pleased. After dinner we had the good fortune to attend a community theatre production and had a fine time trying to solve a murder mystery with some friendly local residents. A quiet, restful night's sleep followed by a delicious breakfast and we were once again on our way. We enjoyed our brief stay with Margaret and Peter very much and recommend Oakwood House.…
We never planned to stay at Oakwood House but we are glad we did. Strangely 2 bookings fell through and we were directed to Oakwood House. We received a warm welcome for bed and breakfast and a recommendation for a meal at Sergio's (also very good). Our hosts were really helpful. The accommodation is a very nice mature Scottish stone detached villa within walking distance of the town centre. Breakfast was fantastic.
Very comfortable, friendly welcome and delicious breakfast in this lovely Victorian guest house run by Margaret and Peter, lots of places of interest nearby - don't miss Abbotsford house definitely worth a visit. We will definitely be back.😊
Friendly welcome, lovely spotlessly clean room, peaceful and quiet, good central location and an excellent cooked breakfast. Thoroughly recommended and am sure I will be back . You will not be disappointed.
Great central location, easy to walk into town. Clean and well appointed. Comfortable quiet room despite being just off the main road. Very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast including lovely fresh fruit as well as standard cooked stuff. Well worth a stay.
Stayed here for two nights in March. Was lovely place to stay- quiet, comfortable, clean and super hosts who made me feel very welcome. Very convenient for walks and shops. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend.
Margaret & Peter are exceptional hosts of a property which is kept to the highest of standards. Very comfortable sleep in a peacefully quiet location followed by the tastiest breakfast. Rest assured that you will not be disappointed with this venue.
Stayed here for one night with my son (11) and we both loved it. Warm and friendly hosts, comfy beds, delicious breakfast. Great building and location and a very reasonable rate. Next to Hawick's beautiful park. Give it 10/10. I would highly recommend staying here when visiting Hawick and the beautiful Borders.
