Susan has a very comfortable B & B in a very quiet street with easy parking, a spacious dining/lounge and very well appointed bedrooms, with great en-suite bathrooms. The location suits forays into the countryside by car and Susan is a valuable source of information about eating places, historic sights, local facilities, even shops. She made us feel very welcome, and was attentive without being intrusive – a perfect balance for a host. Fantastic breakfast! We had some terrific conversations too, and felt very much part of the household for three nights. Sorry to leave!
We booked into the Birches in Hawick and what a surprise to find that we had our own sitting room as well as our bedroom. The lady who owns the B&B Sue is a very nice lady nothing is too much for her, and her breakfast was very nice. I liked the fact it was a bungalow as I'm in a wheelchair. When we go back up to Hawick which we will we will certainly stay there again.
The owner Susan made us feel very welcome. A nice cuppa was offered on arrival in the very cosy lounge. Rooms very nice. Breakfast was exceptional with lots of choice and a lot of home made items. Lots of parking space provided.
A real diamond in Hawick. Best Bed & Breakfast accommodation in Borders ! Fabulous in every way. We stayed for 6 nights, and Susan could not be more helpful and lovely. Our Room The Squirrel was beautifully decorated and bed comfy. Shower room super. Nothing too much trouble. Breakfast excellent and great choice. Poached eggs scrummy. Lovely and quiet too. Do not feel you are intruding as rooms completely separate to main house. Will return ! Thanks Susan (Poodle Lover & Queen) for such a memorable stay.
I have been traveling and staying weekly for the last three months in Hawick- having experienced four different B and B's in Hawick in total - the other three each for only one week- I did not and would not want to re book them. I am under no illusion that the Birches is by far the better place to stay. Trying to pick apart why Susan's B and B is streets ahead is quite difficult as there are so very many little and not so little things Susan does to make my stay there so welcoming and truly a home from home. Nothing is too much trouble- even the times when I gave needed to be away before breakfast time - Susan has been up and met me at silly O'clock at the door with a hot bacon sandwich! Setting the real fire roaring away ready for me to arrive on cold evenings in the beautiful sitting room - you can not be made to feel more welcome. The rooms are spotless and the facilities good all that you could need. All I can say is I would never book any where else if I were staying in Hawick :) :) …
